Thanks for the video! I hadn’t seen the addition of a canyon quickdraw before but hey, that’s why I asked you for your take. Great illustration, thanks for being so interactive!

Also doubles as an ok progress capture for ascending. There are obviously better tools out there for progress capture but it'll work in a pinch.

Yes it does, and yes, there certainly are much better options out there if they are available at the time needed. It is a good concept tho to keep in the back of your emergency tool box. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊

Good video thank you for putting good stuff out there. One question, Instead of using the canyon quickdraw, couldn’t you put a locking carabiner in the small hole (like you had it) and also onto the brake strand as it leaves the totem (kind of like the contingency totem block)? It seems like less bulk off your belay loop

Hmmm.... Yeah, in theory that seems like it'd work as I'm running that scenario through in my head. It would close the system off like you are looking for. Only question right now to me is whether it would get in the way of the rappel/brake as it would almost be redicrecting the rope out of the rappel device - but by how much is the question. I'll have to play with that idea and see what happens.

I wish the totem was also made in steel

I think they’ve done some limited runs of it in steel, or maybe it was just in Titanium.

@@NorthWashOutdoors I'd bet it is so expensive

I think they were asking like nearly $200 a piece if my memory serves me right.
