As someone who played hundreds of hours in Factorio I find it a bit dated now. Yes it's deep but with games like Satisfactory going from strength to strength I feel that they 'missed the boat' a little bit spending so long before releasing.
@Ploppy Ploppy, by that logic games like Terraria, Minecraft, etc, are dated. Yet people love those games. Part of the charm of Factorio is the visuals and I personally prefer it over Satisfactory. I'm not the only one who feels this way. Factorio so far has an overwhelming positive reviews on Steam and it has maintained that positive status for years. @@Torsteinhauger That's absolutely mind boggling (I'm only 60seconds into the video)..... Doom Eternal is hands down one of the greatest game's in history (let alone this fucking year 🤦), arguably the best FPS IMO, has some of the most mind bending graphics/visuals, some of the most difficult and intelligent enemy AI I've ever seen in 20yrs, what the fuck was Mac thinking 🤔
i loved doom and i loved how they implemented the new parkhour system i completely all the slayer rooms got all the emperean keys loved it
Ancient gods dlc is even better
Doom Eternal is the best shooter I played since Doom 2016. Zero to none bugs, absolutely amazingly polished and optimised. No microtransaction bullshit. YOUR FUCKING RELOAD ANIMATION IS SLICING A DEMON IN HALF WITH A CHAINSAW WHILE MICK GORDON IS HAVING SEX WITH YOUR EARDRUMS. But Mack gives it to stand still pew pew pew, teleport 2 meters, stand still pew pew pew game. I thought we gonna get some redemption on Doom here after Sony bought out the Awards this year with TLOU2. Meh
Happy New Year Mack! Thank you for everything you do. You're up front, you're honest, you don't kowtow and you're the only one who doesn't so what would we do without you?
it's a shame you didn't review factorio, that's as good as it gets for management/automation type games
Fully agree with the choice of your overall winner! Thank you for all your hard work this year and I look forward to your videos in 2021!!
Nice to see myself cameo twice in this lol
Tommy Lee..? 🤔
Thanks for all the hard work Mack mate! Bring on 2021 :)
I can't wait for Subnautica: Below Zero to launch. Been starving myself of content for that game so that I can experience it the way I never truly got to with the first one
same, the plot for subnautica got spoiled to crap, i want to experience the “dlc” for myself. but pinglings cannot wait
@@parchedcoma9939 How did the plot get spoiled?
jack
Thanks for keeping us informed this year Mac, keep up the good work for the one comin ! Happy new year to you & yours !
"A poo-uh poo-uh yee-ah, guys, a very poo-uh yee-ah."
expected Phasmophobia to make the VR list! That last video you did on it was hilarious. Ending was edited to perfection
Factorio should’ve been mentioned, it came out this year
Was thinking the same thing, even hoped it would win a category
Few early access games have managed to accomplish that.
Thanks for the laughs and honest reviews - and for successfully replacing every Holiday/Christmas song with "Console Game" in my head this season.
Fall Guys is not Early Access though, it was actually released in August.
Wow, a Mac video on New Years Eve, best treat ever! Have an amazing 2021 Mac, excited for a new year of Rhinoceros diarrhea and Giraffe piss.
OCELOT DUNG
😂
Nothing exciting this year. Bought a lot of games but nothing scratched the itch.
Indies have been good this year. Any AAAs I bought this year, maybe besides CK3, are all a couple years old at least.
Have you played Grounded, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord or Medieval Dynasty yet? Or are these not your type of game? Personally I can't stand shooters. To me, they are pointless and not immersive or even entertaining.
@@Locutus.Borg. Bannerlord is the only one worth buying tbh, Medieval Dynasty isn't my thing but it's getting a lot of raps.
@@dawnrazornephilim I'm enjoying Medieval Dynasty and there is still more to be added to the game. I like open world survival games where you can craft and build. The first game I played like that was The Forest. That is a classic! Bannerlord is great but I mod the sh*t out of it so every update that comes out it is broken until I go and download the latest mod updates which is a bit of a chore to be honest. At least this happened automatically with ARK Survival Evolved. Btw, I picked up ARK: Aberration and ARK: Extinction during the Steam winter sale for only $6 AUD each! 👍
@@Locutus.Borg. I like survival games, It's just Medieval Dynasty seems like a mobile game, a bit of a chore. I could be wrong I've not played the game.
That opening comment was amazing Mack 😆 all the best to you mate, keep doing what you do, best reviewer on YT 👍
Hades is the best one for me personally. Have not been addicted to a video game like that in years.
You never disappoint... :) The best game awards.
And where is Factorio? As I remember you really liked this game.
By your new rules, Factorio needs to be in here. WTH Mac =P
Thank you Mack for another year of top drawer gaming reviews. My wife knows absolutely nothing about gaming, but she can recognise your voice immediately and always cannot wait to hear the words, the words... of the developer.
11:25 I was pissing myself, what a reaction 🤣
YES LOVE TO DESPERADOS 3!!!!
So basically Mac is a Half Life Alyx fanboy now? Ok.
Stfu did u play it?
@@jootai in VR games but Valve know how to make great game same thing in Left for dead 1 and 2, Portal 1 and 2 and Half life 1 and 2
Thanks for all the reviews youve done this year! Have a great 2021!
Half life alyx makes me want to buy a vr headset, game looks great
Yeah I really need to get one.
@Beef Stu there are plenty of indies and experiences, I'd say it's worth it if you get a good headset
Great to see Wasteland 3 with an award, we actually gave Wasteland 3 Game of the year on our channel
My save files broke on x-box gamepass pc thingy. And ya cant do shit with files on that stupid fubar thingy. Made me stop subscribe to that service.
@@-aleeke-2526 wasteland 3 on pc? I would know unfortunately, I'm an xbox player Haha but that's ashame. I know you can send in your files to the devs... I also know they've released a ton of patches to try and fix it. It's so much better now then when it first released 🖖
Ghosts of Tsushima did it for me. Best game ive played in years.
Mac, Mac, listen. Happy New year and all.
But seriously, I hope your word here at youtube gets so big, it overthrows every single IGN, GAMESPOT and other so called review channel by a few mil, on every vid you do.
Love your intros, the bell and mr. Tommy Lee Jones keeping up the spirit. What a format.
Before I watch the video Mack, I am going to guess Ghost of Tsushima is GOTY. It is my GOTY with Hades.
Nope Mack mentioned it for 2 seconds at the end of the video and errrrrr thst was about it🙃
@@Hard2hit94 I just finished the video about 5 minutes ago 😭. Why Mack?! To be fair, I didn't play Half-Life Alyx or Desperados 3?sp. So, they could very well be better. Ghost had such good controls, story, progression, and look. I could look passed the mediocre A.I. NPC's. The A.I. was miles above most games this year, but that's not saying much.
@@madraccoon5934 I think it's because he didn't want a console game to win
@@Hard2hit94 phuck sony.
For me Hades and Ori & the Will of the Wisps are tied for GOTY. Great stuff as always Mack! Have a great New Years! 🍻😁
Mack: complains about the year of average games, lists a bunch of great games
Mack you the man. Was one of your best videos, hope things are well with you. You always give me a good laugh , lots of bell ringing.
And this should prove to you: you should never pre order games.
Video games need to increase in price. I think that would help curve the pre order craze. Maybe people wouldn’t be so Willy nilly with their money. And developers/publishers would be forced to release finished games for an increased price.
@@matthewjlee101 The price wouldn't make any difference in our no-patience, fast-food-mentality, gotta-have-it-yesterday world.
Also see: Star Citizen and Tik-Thots. Willy nilly at it's finest...
Thanks for an entertaining video, and here's hoping for a much better year of 2021.
I wish I owned a VR headset to play half life Alyx, it looks great, I know Macks' not a console bod like some of us peasants but I would love to hear his opinion on a slightly older game....Days Gone, I know it had some issues when it released but I got it about 6 months ago and I couldn't put it down, I had no issues with it at all, absolutely amazing 70 hours put into that badboy, I was so hooked on the story I wanted to play "just one more hour" at 4am lol, I might even restart that as the other options out there at the moment are pretty ordinary, Ghosts of Tsushima looks interesting too but I'm a cheap ass, I want until games are half price then get theml, I've only just got RDR 2 lol
a big thank you for your hillarious videos ,some entertainment during a horrible year so thank you mack
Early access to me should be limited to indie companies. Because they actually need the funding.
Best reviews on TH-cam! Thanks for the content Mack
Played through HL-Alyx when I had an Index. Didn't really do anything for me, at all. Peoples opinions can be night and day. Its all good. 👍
He's getting too old to be taken seriously for game reviews.
@@doomslayer9513 It's about taste. I loved HL:A but it's more for the people who enjoy the Atmosphere, lore and world-building, a bit like original F.E.A.R. If you love looter shooters or fast-paced action it's not for you.
@@doomslayer9513 i'm 22 and i had a complete blast through hla, i even did a second playthrough
@@doomslayer9513 Not for other old people who share his preferences..
Thanks for the year Mack. Always make my day a bit better.
Fu ck now I have to buy VR. Damn Mack ffs
This is literally my favourite channel keep up the great content
Wasteland 3 looks like a great game, I would have played it if it wasn't for turn based.
play it dude. i had the same concern about the divinity original sin series and those changed my mind.
@@borzzoid5615 Thing is it bores me how the action is stopped all of the sudden. I don't mind this type of gameplay when I play board games, but in a video game this is an old mechanic that was created due to technological constrains we don't have anymore. I know it has a market so good, but not for me.
@Beef Stu Never said this should be a shooter there are many ways to make an action game nowadays. Also I know there is a market for it so I am not against this type of game, is just the combat is boring for me. RPG mechanics do look fun tho
Can't agree more with HL Alyx. What a game, I still can't regret buying an index because I've never experienced anything like it. More VR like that please.
Fall Guys isn't in early access. It was released as a full game.
@walentaz right I can see that honestly.
Wasteland 3 doesn’t get talked about enough, really happy to see it get a mention here.
Factorio :-( best time consumet of life :-D
Fucking Jeff... I just reached this bit and it's bloody terrifying xD
Hats off to the best gaming reviewer on all of TH-cam in terms of integrity as well as quality content! Happy new year Mac!
