    I don’t think I’ll get tired of watching this over and over, it really sounds sweet, appears very smooth.

      Haha, no worrys, ill run it long another time, but first i have to remove the radiator and clean out the mouse/birds nest inside.

      Judging from what I got out of that little Farmall you might get a wheelbarrow full of stuff out of that radiator!

      its a big radiator! the filler neak must be 4inch across, from what i can see the whole top is a nest of some kind with straw.
      the tanks unbolt from the core, ill have to remove the side of the machine to get into it all.
      thats the trouble with larger machines.....everythings larger!

      I know how big it is, the 34b a friend has came from my neighbors’ place years ago. I remember from years ago I looked the machine over quite well. I believe it is the comparable machine to your 24B. I have pictures of it 30 years ago where it sat, when I run across them I’ll have to send them to you. The 34B is powered with what would be a Cat D8 engine. The man who got it said the engine couldn’t be saved so he bought a running D8 for the engine. I guess he is getting close to having it running. He is cheery thorough and rebuilds everything, me not so much. It will eventually wind up at the club grounds where my P&H and crusher are.

      yes, i beleave the next size up from teh 24rb would be a 34rb and then a 54rb? i think BE made the 34 and 54 sizes over there?
      that 34 would be a nice machine to look at.
      being the USA they would have different engines to any Enlgish models.
      it would be nice to have the time and money to fuly rebuild everything, but that takes alot a time and money haha.
      Not sure what will happen to the 24rb, would make sence to have it at a show ground due to its rareness

    Very, very cool. The first start must have been quite exciting. Now I’m reenergized to get back at my Cat Sixty!

      Yes it was, i wasnt actually thinking it was going to start that easy, thus why i had my head out the roof to see if she was making any smoke.
      Then away she went.
      The cat sixty i would like to see, i reacon she would be a nice sounding engine

      Have you see my video on it about it being a long overdue project? I have all the parts I should need. I have to get 3 of the cylinders bored from 6-1/2 to 6-3/4. I had 3 cracked cylinders. Mine is 6-3/4 and the replacement cylinders are 6-1/2 which can be bored to 6-3/4, so I lucked out, I can get them bored to fit my pistons. I had hoped to get it running this year but I got carried away buying and getting new projects home and running. I want to finish the Farmall now, then it’s off on vacation for 2 weeks after that I want to really concentrate on the Sixty. After all it’s only been about 50 years since I saw it at my neighbors’ place and I’ve owned it about 20 so I guess it’s about time.

      im not sure on the video, i will have to go check, i would really like to own a cat 60, have not had alot of interest in the other models, some of the holts are nice looking old tractors

      I liked that sixty since I first saw it 50 years ago. I have the belt pulley for the back. It is the very same Sixty my neighbor Allen ran the crusher I have in the videos. I have a journal his brother kept telling about it. I also have Allen’s records stating the serial number,when he bought it used and what he paid for it. All this has a lot of sentimental value to me. Are there many Sixties in Australia. In the States usually 2 or 3 running ones come up on internet auctions each year. Usually bring $15,000 to $25,000. Over 18,000 where built including the earlier Best models. Sixties I think are the most sought after Caterpillar by collectors.

    I’m from the same school, make them run and move to next projects, they’re only original once. I have a good friend who makes his equipment all look new. I tell him I’m saving the environment by not spraying paint fu es everywhere. Now that I think of it, At the Badger Steam and Gas Club show I was the first one with an active demonstration of heavy equipment. I took my Case rock crusher there and fed it with the P&H. It has mushroomed from there. Most of the equipment is either mine or my friend, Allen’s, who paints all his. It makes it simple when people ask, I tell them the painted stuff is Allen’s and most of the rest is mine.

      ive just never had alot of interest in paint things up, even my cars, unless i facbricate up new parts.
      interesting a cool that you might have started the equipement at the badger show, i really like playing around with my machines at home, making any old reason i can to use them.
      its just good fun.
      I think the best part is when you get a items thats broekn or has been sitting for a long time and make it work again, plus the non running stuff seems to be a bit cheaper, so you can collect more of it haha

    • @oldamericaniron5767
      @oldamericaniron5767 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes,I think I only bought 3 old pieces of old equipment that ran when I purchased them, the1919 Oshkosh truck, my D2, and the International T340 although they all needed work. I believe in the saying, if 1 is good, 2 is better and 3 or more is better yet. When you’ve lost count you’ve reached your goal. Now that I think of it, every year I drain water out of the bottom of the gear cases on my 10B, rain gets in somehow so I crack the drain plugs and drain it off each year. Your J15 is about the same machine, have you ever checked the gear cases for water. Here it is doubly important as I have seen broken final drive housings and oil pans from freezing water. Good luck with the Fordson, if you get a chance I’d like to see a picture of it. On the subject of paint, I feel if you cosmetically restore everything you lose part of the story, to me every old repair and weld tells a story, if you cover that up you lose something. Well ,I’ll let you go and maybe I’ll learn to say G’Day. Is that right?

      @@oldamericaniron5767 i guess my machinery would be closer to not running when ive bought and item, but a number have been running when i bought them, most have been sitting or broken. they really hold together well for something that normally spends its whole life outside.
      yes, i have a video on the jaques dragline or me working on draining and cleaning the gear case, i think the video needed editing, lost of water, grease, dirt and rocks in the gear cases.
      I beleave water gets into them through the gearcase below the Winch drums, the tin wear there is not really that water proof.
      i assume the 10B is just a Copy of a 10RB (as the RB would have been around first?)
      i do like walking around my machines and checking out what reapairs have been done, what scrairs are showing and what writing someing has scratched into them.
      Haha, yes i beleave its G'day, though i dont offen say that i mostly use.
      Ow ya goin ( how is it going).
      or Hey Buddy.

    • @oldamericaniron5767
      @oldamericaniron5767 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think your right about where the water gets in, and I think the 10RB was first also. Another question I had, does your J15 drag shovel run?

    • @hurricanedaniel
      @hurricanedaniel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oldamericaniron5767 ive sat in my J15 when its raining and ive seen it run down the Boom suport ropes and drip down onto the top for the centre gear case covers.
      does the 10B has a oil pump to transfer the oil from the main transmission gear case into the centre gearcase below the drums? we noted that the 10RB does, but the J15 does not.
      Drag shovel is not a running, and was not a runner over 20years ago when the dragline and it were moved from the coal mine to the farm next door.
      it looks to be in good shape wear wise, but all rusted up engine, levers, etc i will try and get another motor, its also Fordson Major Powered
      i would like to turn it into a skimmer scoop

      Thanks, shes a bit of a machine, never seen any videos of one before.
      Are you looking for a 24rb? Or just something of this vintage.
      There are lots of other models around, just gotta keep asking about.
      I need Drive chains and a jib or front attachment if you ever hear of anything.
      Mine were scrapped before i saved the machine.
      Can add me on facebook if you have that, or email/phone number for non Facebookers.

      I have the opportunity to purchase a 38RB and or possibly an 22RB. I'm waiting to hear back from the owners. They have a few spare items. Send me an email and I will get your number off you. Cheers. Btw, I absolutely nothing about owning one of these, but looking to start a small business.
