I watch for that girl but also to see ladies dressed like ladies as it was in my day. Sick of the trash in a trash bag look of today amplified with tats.
This show makes me happy. What a terrific television 📺 show. Life was pretty interesting back then. If Ann had this dilemma in this day and age, she could have auditioned with her smartphone. Those pay phones are nostalgic. That Girl was so well written and the acting was great.
Absolutely love this show! They certainly don't make them like this anymore. The chemistry between Ann and Don is "terrific" to use Ann's favorite word. Only one complaint- the writers needed to pay attention - Don did write about Ann in the magazine before -in the episode "All About Ann" season 1 episode 13.
Don't forget "DADDY"... Mr. Marie, was a gem. The other characters, Seymore (her agent), the restaurateur, Jerry (Don's best friend and partner), his wife, Judy (Anne's best friend), we absolutely cannot forget, Anne's hilarious acting teacher, I forgot his name. You guys are soo right, Marlo's clothes were ahh so GORGEOUS!! The colors, the styles. To me they were timeless! I wonder if she had any part in choosing her wardrobe?
When Ann says this audition is the first time she has been asked to audition because she is Ann Marie rather than as a Jones type, it reminded me of the famous show business saw, changing the name: "Who is Ann Marie?" "Get me Ann Marie!" "Get me a younger Ann Marie type." "Who is Ann Marie?"
At 23:02, Ann Marie is reading the article Don Hollinger wrote in "Newsview" magazine, and she's holding a copy of the magazine open. A piece of paper can be seen attached inside the magazine to the page she opens to. This is presumably some sort of prompt for the actors.
Reminded me of my Maxi..I was in 10th grade and my coat was red patent leather with black faux fur and cuffs. I loved "That Girl" and like so many teens, wanted to dress just like Ann. I have seen so many of my "copy" outfits from 7th 11th grade during the time the show aired! Great memories. So happy to see the series finally on You Tube!
McCormick was one of the first black newscasters in the country, for KTLA in Los Angeles. He was quite a busy actor for a newsman! His credits included The Jeffersons, The Rockford Files and Murder She Wrote. He died in 2004.
Ann didn't know what "suspended" means? Good grief. She acted like everyone there has no life but her, and that special consessions should be made just for her to get back to the city.
She is about as successful in getting into show business as Lucy Riccardo had been, with the same degree of desire. Even when she gets the part, as here, the show doesn't open because it is so lousy.
The days before AWD/SUV. A time when motorists in NY had to put chains on their tires in the winter. However, the chains were banned due to the damage they caused to roads and the introduction of "all weather "radial tires. Nonetheless Ann was an awful actress. No wonder she was out of work more often than not.
You can get sidelined for being too good. Where everyone so strongly identifies you with your iconic role that it becomes impossible to break free from how everyone sees you for the rest of your life. Mark Hamill will always be Luke. Bob Denver as Gilligan. Barry Williams as Greg. Leonard Nimoy as Spock. Tina Louise as Ginger. David Cassidy as Keith. And Marlo forever as Ann Marie.
The wardrobe department is amazing for this show. I love Ann’s clothes

I loved this show it was adult proving but as a 5 year old I could watch it.

I love how they get to "That Girl." It is always in a creative way. And in this episode, we saw Mrs. Marie.
Wholesome,cute and funny.Just like i remember.❤😊
I really love this show and always have thank you for putting it on❤❤❤❤
She is a doll
I guess they both forgot that Donald did write an article on Ann in secret i in Season 1.
When the reporter said, "Good grief !", so funny!
This hysterical!
Similar to the pandemic, it is-interesting to note that during this blizzard , Ann’s knee jerk response was to hoard food( toilet paper crisis).
Storing sandwiches in the locker. Good thinking Lou! 😂❤
Quickest way to food poisoning.

That was the Maxi 🧥 that you could convert to a Midi. Denisa Lync had one, I didn't 😢

Beautiful coat! L also loved all her clothes. ❤
I agree! Happy to be able to watch this show here on TH-cam.
A wonderful and engaging time capsule.
Just saw the Air Canada plane on the tarmac.
I remember Larry McCormack...he was funny! And Don did write about her in the magazine...

Thank you for this summary, it's interesting.
Ann didn't know what "suspended" means? Good grief. She acted like everyone there has no life but her, and that special consessions should be made just for her to get back to the city.
Yes, except she does agree that appendectomies come before her.
There storyline is good, but Ann is so demanding. Her desire to be a star gets tiresome.
She is about as successful in getting into show business as Lucy Riccardo had been, with the same degree of desire. Even when she gets the part, as here, the show doesn't open because it is so lousy.

Aw, I thought she was a good actress.

53 years ago life was nice and slow not chaotic and stress as it is today no wonder there's so much panic in schools and on the streets how sad 😭🤔🫠🫠🫠
