    Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. It is beautifully clear and concise. No time is wasted, and everything is so well demonstrated that I can think of nothing more to say, except - you're a fine teacher and a kind person for posting this. Many will learn from it!
    By the way, I often use a mirror to check my left hand fingerings.

      I’m a retired teacher. The way you break down each section with very clear fingerings, titles and text directions sets this video apart from others’ efforts. Even viewing this on a small screen of a smartphone is possible, because you use nice sharp closeups.
      Performing and teaching are two different things, to do both well - as you have done - is a treat for the learner!

    • @antonanker583
      @antonanker583 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know if that's really necessary but then again, perhaps it is. People do get used to how they see things Your tutorial was outstanding and a person could get the correct fingering if they use the forth finger on the fundamental bass column (I prefer using the third finger. Guess I'm old school.). I used a mirror when I first started just to find the positions of the left hand buttons but after I was accustomed to how to find them I stopped. If one constantly uses a mirror to find the buttons, it's a crutch that they will rely on and it then becomes a hindrance. After all, one can't see the buttons while playing without a mirror. It's much better to learn the patterns that stradella has and just simply practice those jumps 10,00, times until one gets it. I printed out a stradella chart and used that to find new notes until I got used to them after learning the pattern. There is no easy way. I like the way you show how to slide across the buttons to find the markers instead of lifting the finger and jumping. A lesson it took me ages, and many mistakes, to learn that. You put the note names in your video and that's great but was think perhaps you could somehow put the notes on the staff too. I don't know how you'd to that but It might make things a bit more natural for some.

    Hi Lucy, I played 3 years of Accordion in kindergarten (lol), but that was a long time ago. Because of La Valse D'Amélie, I really want to learn Accordion again... Do you think this piece is an intermediate or advanced level for Accordion players? How many years do I have to spend in Accordion learning to get the skill adequate for this piece?

    • @accordionlucy
      @accordionlucy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey :) I'll answer as best I can, although a lot of the answer depends on how much you still remember from your lessons in kindergarten. I would consider this piece intermediate. The left hand makes this piece easy because the chords repeat throughout the whole piece. You could learn this piece within a year. With even more years of experience after that, you can learn to play it more expressively as you master the bellows and improve your touch on the keyboard.
