I have a collected wild olive with some long taper-less branches that I want to prune back so that it can grow out again and create taper. In your experience, is air layering on this species successful and would it readily back bud below the air layer?
Hi Pieter. I don’t have experience air layering collected olives. I’ve also not seen anyone do it. Doesn’t mean it cannot be done of course. I see no reason why it wouldn’t back bud, same as if you were simply to cut the branches. In that case they definitely do.
