Bridging the gap between NYC's No-Wave noise rock and the broader New Wave, the Del-Byzanteens were probably the best band on the East Coast at the time. It would take Sonic Youth years before they came up with songs equal to this.
I had a no wave band circa 82-83ish (longevity approaching the Stones) in NYC called the Buffalo Billhillies.....perhaps someone caught one of our episodes?
