- This video shows how to set up a flat-screen TV in order to receive Free to Air channels in Uganda. Though this can also work in all countries that use the DVB-T2 standard for digital TV transmission

I think you can get them from those guys who sell decoders and antennas, it's not expensive ,it can go for like 1500 to 2000 shs

Bro, does this work in all parts of Uganda 🇺🇬 . Secondly does the antenna matter, I am using the zuku dish as my antenna
It should work in any part of the country as long as free to air channels are broadcasted in that area,since pay tv works in most parts of the country,I suspect free to air channels could be on,the set up for a dish is different though you can also set it up to receive free satellite channels, use an antenna instead
@kelly isaac mine was working in Kampala but can't work in mbarara, do u think free to air doesn't work in mbarara?

But my hisence smart TV is claiming Ci+module/Ca module and smart card are not inserted
A ci module is used to access encrypted channels ie pay tv, you can only access channels that are not locked(scrambled) with free to air, try selecting channels that are not locked
Thanks for sharing but it seems mine has a bigger problem where by we somehow lost all the channels and we have tried and auto searched so many time but in vain. The list box is there but no channels in it

For the first time we searched even the few that had remained disappeared. Those few had locks
Hmm...my best guess would be there might be a problem with the antenna, check it's signal strength and see if it has any,I think you can find it under some setting to do with signal information or connect it to a decorder and check the signal strength from there,a common cause for low signal strength is a loose connection, check if the antenna pin is fixed properly, tightly..in the TV

Can one connect using a DSTV dish not an antenna ?
It's kinda different for a dish, the pin goes into the DVB-S/S2 spot,but sometimes to get the free satellite channels, you might have to adjust the dish to specific coordinates

I think I have tried ATV tunning before , it doesn't work in this area, if your TV doesn't have DTV , you might have to buy a free to air decoder for it

A ci module helps you access pay tv channels,my guess is you have been selecting scrambled channels, channels that have a key symbol besides it,try selecting channels without the key symbol

You might have to buy a Free to air decoder then, I saw a TV set like that some time back, it seems they come with only ATV and not DTV and here in Uganda we don't use the ATV signals for our free to air channels....so might have to buy a Free to air tv decoder to help you tap the DT2 signal
Helo Isaac, can free to air work in areas outside Kampala? Coz while I was staying in Kampala, I used to watch all free to air channels, but its only UBC working while in Jinja.
I think it does, just keep on auto searching, you will eventually find the other channels, what you are describing has ever happened to me too who is Kampala
My free to air has all channels scrambled leaving only ubc en in the countries am not seeing Uganda in the list so wat can I do
The country doesn't matter,the TV will still pick up the channels available in the area, all channels being scrambled does happen at times but you just have to keep on auto searching until you get all channels,keep searching everyday, you will eventually start receiving other channels
What about when am using a satellite dish
For a satellite,the cable goes into the DVB-S/S2 spot, but the dish might require some adjusting to tap the free satellite channels

For scrambled channels, you have to use a decoder since they belong to pay tv, I don't know of a hack right now

Ya, some channels are indeed scrambled but you can find other channels that are not scrambled in the list, but the last time I checked it,most channels were scrambled and the signal was bad,I don't know if it has improved now

No, you don't need internet, you just need an antenna and a flat tv

What's the positioning of the antenna
Whatever direction that gives a good signal strength is ok
After doing all this it has failed to load channels. After finishing the auto tuning process it still shows "0 programmes". I really dont know how to go about this
My suspicion is on the antenna, Check if the antenna is connected well and in the right spot, you can also check for the strength strength in the settings
My TV country is stuck on Kenya,what can I do?
It doesn't matter,the TV will only pick up all channels broadcasted in your location regardless of the country you choose, just go ahead and do a search

Setting my TV its solostar .but am confused whether it contains a free air decorder or not.
Check your Tv input menu and see if it Dtv under it or check behind the tv and check if it has a dvb-T/T2 spot for the antenna,if it does,it can tap the dvb-T/T2 signal

How do we access the ones with keys
To watch scrambled channels you have to pay for them, you need a decoder like a Gotv decoder to watch those channels

I think you are selecting channels that are locked, trying selecting the channels without the padlock or key symbol,a cup module helps you access pay TV channels
My tv does not show Uganda instead it shows kenya and it's on DVBT not DVBT2 how can i upgrade
The country does not matter, choose any, according to what am gathering, in Uganda,signals are broadcasted using DVB-T2 , DVB-T tvs without DVB-T2 capabilities might fail to display DVB-T2 channels correctly, but try and see if it works, but you might have to purchase a free to air decoder to use with your Tv if it fails to pick up DVB-T2 channels

Yes, you can tap free satellite channels using a satellite dish,but the dish cable goes into the DVB-S/S2 spot and not the DVB-T/T2 spot,I haven't tried it myself but I heard the dish might also need adjusting to get the correct coordinates for the channels and this might require a device similar to what DStv guys use when setting up the satellite dish,try it out and see though I would have to do more research to know exactly how to set it up

You just have to keep on auto searching until you get the other free to air channels, sometimes the TV is unable to see some channels,I don't know what causes it,I suspect signal strength could be an issue, check the signal strength in the settings,if it is high,the problem could be on the transmitter's side

It's ok, choose any country you want,it will still work
My samsungs keeps saying check aerial cable connection and check saved channels when I adjust atena its says scrambled network
Hmm...am not sure why it's doing that, try fitting the aerial cable firmly and position it in a way where you have good signal strength then search again,I think you can see the signal strength in the settings

Try adjusting the antenna and then auto search, there's somewhere in the settings where you can see how strong the signal strength is,I suspect it can be a factor, the country doesn't really matter,the tv only picks the channels around you

I don't know why that is so but I think you just have to keep on doing auto searching maybe they will show up with time, it happened to me once but later on after doing an auto search, channels showed up

You cannot access the locked channels,to access them you need pay TV like gotv, startimes etc, you can only access free to air channels that are not scrambled/locked

no CI module is what the TV shows when you try to access scrambled channels, look for channels without a padlock on them,those are the channels that are not scrambled,if you don't see them,auto search again,they will eventually show up

Really, unless it doesn't have the ability to receive DVB-T2 signals, check if it has a spot for antenna DVB-T2 -T2, if it only has a spot for TV antenna then it might not be able to receive DVB-T2 signals

I really don't know why that is so,I would suspect the problem would be with the location you are in,I have heard of a case where someone claimed free to air channels were not available in their area, keep on doing scans and see if anything will change,also check the signal strength on your TV,it could be weak and you have to reposition your antenna,also some TV sets search using cable setting in the antenna settings instead using antenna which can limit the channels you receive

The information I see online,it does have a turner for DVB-T2 and as well as an inbuilt free to air decoder, look for any spot where the antenna pin can fit, that should be the spot for the antenna, I suspect it has an antenna spot like on old tvs,that should be it even though it's not labelled
