Only one way to keep that from happening: Grasp on to it real tight and hope that rigor mortis sets in before they can prey it away. Wow. This took a dark turn quickly.
Congratulations on the milestone in your marriage! My wife and I reached that point for me a couple of years ago, and it was an amazing thought to realize that I had been married to her longer than I had NOT been. Good on you guys for making it last; it certainly takes work and sacrifice. Will we get to meet her on the channel sometime?
Hey Happy Anniversary to you and your wife Phil, and happy new guitar day too!! That's really a beauty of an LP there, nice going!! I also wanted to say thank you for being one of the most genuine, and informative guitar guys on TH-cam!! I've been a player now for about 26 years, and I love learning new things about guitars, and gear as much now as when I first started playing. You are always fun, and entertaining to watch, I think you do an excellent job explaining how things work, and what you like or dislike about them. Thanks for knowing your gear, and teaching me to know mine better too!!
Love your work Phil. I got a Gretsch White Falcon for my 20th Anniversary and my wife and I say we have been together longer than we've been apart too!
Way to go on 19 years of marriage, Phil!! It's always good to see marriages that stand the test of time!! And, thanks for such a cool channel. I love watching your videos!
*+The Item Shop* Thank you, Mr. White Knight, for saving Phil from the evil, mean, ruthless guy making a joke in his comment section. By the way, it's a running gag and he knows about it.
The Item Shop technically it is an epiphone knock off I guess because les paul actually used epiphone til they convinced him to try gibson and even when they were making the concept it took so long so they sanded the headstock and I believe put a gibson sticker or whatever they had to do to it to endorse gibson in short notice so I guess that does kinda make it a borderline knock off
Cameron Crane what is known as the Gibson Les Paul was co-designed by Les as well as Ted McCarty and others at the Gibson factory. Epiphone was not involved whatsoever in the Gibson Les Paul, despite having worked with Les previously on other solidbody electric designs. So no, technically it does not make it even slightly a knock off.
Hey Phil! I'm a lefty player and my first guitar was an epiphone les paul in cherry sunburst. I've been craving this goldtop because 2017 is the first year in quite a while that Gibson has actually made left handed versions of their guitars. I've been dead set on the classic gold top T and hearing your praise assures me that this is truly the guitar i want! Thank you so much and keep on!
Bought the exact model 2 months ago. My first Lester. I added the poker chip and swapped out the speed knobs for reflector bell knobs and pointer. Just love this guitar. Gibson got this right. Very pleased with it. Can't wait to see further videos with you putting it through its paces. Oh yeah, don't you love that brand new Gibson vanilla smell! Enjoy your new gold top !
Aaaaah, that closing was sweet. And it made me calculate - two anniversaries from now, and the Missus and I will have been together for 2/3 of my life.
Congrats on the guitar and your marriage.. That is a weird thing to finally realize when you are with your spouse longer than you have been without them. dated my wife in 86... married her in 1989 .. we were 21... So I can totally relate! Great video!
this is the best les paul of the 2017 range..... they made a special edition color of this in sea foam green, just gorgeous.... congrats on the guitar and the anniversary.... cheers
Congratulations guys! On the topic of buying new gear, when I told my other half that I was buying a new rig (LP standard, JVM415, and some pedals) after uni she was absolutely fine with it - all it takes is a little communication
Hey Phill , Thank you for your vids. I'm a 63H Vet. Busted Knuckles for uncle Sam back in the 80's. Just wanted to say thank you for your service. Jam on !
Well congrats on the nice Classic, I have a 2006 1960 Les Paul Classic and it's great, I am sure you will love this one for the rest of your life! Oh and ... My lady got me a Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Standard Historic R9 VOS Lemonburst for a graduation present.
just wanted to thank you for your TH-cam site I enjoy it a lot, I used to be a commercial truck driver and I ended up with a torn aorta and can no longer work and your site has been quite a joy to me I love listening to you and the guy that does In the Blues, just wanted to thank you.
I got me a Gibson Les Paul traditional 2016 iced tea 3 weeks ago. A SG is on my wishlist too. I would buy it for slide guitar playing. Major fan of Duane Allman and Derek Trucks.
I bought an SG standard 2017 a few weeks ago and, man, I love those 57 classic pickups. I'm really happy with it and I think is much better deal than a LP standard (which is like twice the price). I think Gibson really improved the quality of the past few years, but they are still far far away from PRS though. The factyory setup on PRS is perfect (but the height which is personal taste). The gibson game some work, but still, I think 2017 could be considered a great improvement for Gibson
I just can't get used to thr SG. I have played several and I always go back to the les Paul. Idk what it is. I love the SG though. Maybe I'll play one and come home with it one day.
Congratulations on the new guitar and anniversary! Love your channel and videos, and the fun way this one started. Wonderful approach and work, keep it going! :)
Congratulations on an awesome guitar and your anniversary! My 2017 Les Paul Classic Gold Top (identical to yours) arrived last Friday 5/26 and I simply cannot put it down...I love it!!! Thanks for making awesome videos!
I love the 57 classics in my Les Paul. Great PU set! Congratulations on the 19 wedding anniversary. That's a real milestone and something to be admired.
I've had that same exact model, color and all, since Christmas and I can say it's the absolute best guitar I've ever owned and I've been buying guitars for thirty years.
Congrats man, beautiful. I was just saying before, to my wife, for my 50th I want to treat myself to a quality Les Paul. She said yep do it. 8 years to wait, could be tough though! Enjoy it man.
Fantastic! Many congrats on 19 years dude!!! Beautiful guitar! Brings memories as a friend set me a guitar as a wedding gift and it holds a special place for sure 😊 I'm coming up for 10 years this year.... Wonder if I can convince my wife that I need another 😃 have an awesome day Phillip - thanks for all the awesome vids and inspiration man!!! 😊
Few men get a New Les Paul Classic for their 19th anniversary. Congrats on the new addition. Great looking LP. Love the light colored back and neck. Sounds exactly like a real Les Paul should.
Nice Phil! I met my wife when I was 15 in high school but we didn't start dating till we were 17, 2 months prior to graduating in 85! I was gigging in a cover band, making a full time at minimum wage, pay playing covers on the weekend( my drummer was 17' my keys/rhythm gtr player 15 and his brother 14 on bass) so she doesn't bust my chops on gear! We're both 50 this year so I dig your anniversary. Married 24 years, together 32! Peace and love!
Getting the same one tomorrow from Sweetwater. Feeling like a kid at Christmas. They had it marked down to 1799 and I ended up getting it for 1699. I'm also getting the poker chip switch plate but they were out of stock so that's mailing a little later. I got a J 45 a couple weeks ago that I have fallen in love with as well. Beautiful feeling and sounding acoustic.
Hey Phillip, congrats to you and your wife on 19 years! Having watched Shane's gathering with all you guys hangin out, I realize why I lik your channel, and it's not just the work you put in, it's the honesty and the non-assuming down to earth and constructive way you comment, never snickering, never appearing aloof, while giving an air of confidence that you know what you are saying, or you don't say it. Even though your music tastes are somewhat removed form mine, I really enjoy your content :) Thought I'd say as much.
Thanks for the post Phillip. I just purchased three of these Classic modes from Sam Ash in Phoenix as well from Michael and the gang. I love this model of guitar because it is back to what made the Les Paul so great. It's basically the Standard before Gibson messed up the current Standard.
Great vid Phillip! Awesome “let the wife know I’m buying a new guitar strategy”. I simply bought a variety of some sweet guitar picks, and told my sweet wife “hey honey, they make some really awesome accessories for these”. Now, I think we both have GAS. Congrats on 19 years and the sweet Gibson and Marshall. Your marriage is the most important of the three.
Congrats....it sounds great! I have a 2016 Standard and cant put it down. I swore I was a Telecaster guy but my Les Paul has some kind of magic in it. It put a spell on me!!! (dont forget to buy something nice for wifey)
Just when I thought I was okay with my two LPs, you had to post this one. I can't explain why, but I never liked gold tops before. Now I think it's one of the most beautiful and classic looking LPs. And I LOVE the zebra pickups on the gold. Wow.
I had a NEW GUITAR DAY last week and was literally singing "ITS NEW GUITAR DAY" my entire drive to the shop! Funny enough, I also walked out with a Les Paul gold top at a screaming deal too lol
I used to have a 1960 Classic Sunburst premium top got divorced had to sell it. Was in Guitar Center yesterday and they had the 2017 Goldtop Classic I have always wanted a Goldtop I tried it I loved it I bought it!!! Soooo psyched!!!!

She's so fortunate to have you ... lol ...great video as usual . I have a LP classic with 1960 on the pick guard . I've had it for about 8 years ... still awesome guitar ...i shall do a shot or 3 ...
Congrats on the anniversary! I did the same thing a few years back, went in wanting a LP standard and came out with a Classic. I would never have thought that before I went shopping but it's what shouts out at you on the day, like Harry Potter at Ollivanders wand shop 😒
I bought the exact same guitar a few months ago and love it. The 57's sounded a bit muddy to me with my Mesa Boogie MKV so I swapped them for Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Specials (went ahead and added a push pull coil tap too). It's amazing now!
I bought a blackstar head there a few days ago and I had to ask them for the damn foot switch. No original packaging, instructions, or a warranty card. All I got was the amp and foot switch.
@@C_Gu3 I had the opposite problem. Bought an Orange head, was new in the box but it did not say if it had a footswitch with it. I asked, they said it did not come with one so I bought one while I was there. Got home and guess what? It came with one!
"I had a nightmare that my wife sold my guitars for what I told her they're worth."
I told my wife which guitar I wanted to be burred with and she told me that all will get sold. lol
Only one way to keep that from happening: Grasp on to it real tight and hope that rigor mortis sets in before they can prey it away. Wow. This took a dark turn quickly.
(-:
hahaha....ohhh so true...or "I swapped it for this or that bullshit story".....haha...
Double Congrats, enjoy this beautiful Goldie
Congrats to you Phil and your wife on your marital milestone, I hope the 3 of you will be very happy together!
Happy Anniversary! Congratulations on the first 19 years!!

Good on you guys for making it last; it certainly takes work and sacrifice. Will we get to meet her on the channel sometime?
Congrats on new Gibson and congrats on 19 years. Next month we celebrate our 43rd anniversary.
It has nice chirp on the top end! Nice work mate. Congrats. :-)
Next ITB video...
Shane gets LP GAS :))
Harmony is better than Gibson.
HAPPY NEW GUITAR DAY !
You look so happy!
Great for you. Congrats on your 19 years together. I'm recently married and the fact you mentioned her at the end of the video was a lovely touch.
Happy Anniversary! Sweet guitar!
Love New Guitar Day! I've arranged my work schedule around it ... watching the tracking number. So great.
Hey Phillip, congratulations! I wish the best for you two! Thank you for all your great videos!
I hope it bring you many years of enjoyment, happy anniversary :)

I love my Classic. Almost as much as my 58R, New guitar day. Love that. Should be on a calendar.
Pretty nice for an Epiphone knock-off!
dont engage him people

Young Frankenstein idk if ur joking but gibson made epiphone so that they can have a affordable version thats why epiphone haas les paul also

mike young did the same to mine...
I'm such a sucker for a nice gold top. GAS mode engaged!!
I told you, you started this, lol
Nice sound coming from the combination of the Goldtop and that little Marshall rig. What head was that?
A DSL 15?
Sounds great!
First Act and Harmony are better than Gibson.
Danny. Seriously. There is no credibility in that statement.
Congrats on the anniversary and the happy marriage!
Aaaaah, that closing was sweet. And it made me calculate - two anniversaries from now, and the Missus and I will have been together for 2/3 of my life.
We’re just seeing this video but congratulations on your nuptials for 19 years, Rare these days. God speed to you both!
Happy Anniversary & I love the story telling 'bout different ways of telling the wife/partner/loved one - creative video, fun too! :-)
That's how we recognise a real gear addict:
"I wanted to buy a nice gift for _my wife_, so I bought myself a new Gibson Les Paul" :) :)

The 4*12....
She got sent to bed early with no dinner so he could play that sweet axe.
He probably got "her" a new Strat. 😂🤣😂
She got the poker chip.

If it’s right, it is right. The binding doesn’t effect how it plays and from here it sounds great.
