You were sent to me from my late grandmother who didn't get the chance to teach me her upholstery skills.. She was a great seamstress. R.I.P. Nanny.. My otger grandmother unfortunately cant teach me right now either because of the Coronavirus and social distracting :(.. Another great seamstress.
Yay! Thank you! That was the exact instruction I needed and you totally eased my mind because I was a bit worried about having to cover my T cushion in the chair that I am going to recover. Wish me luck, this will be the first time making a slipcover.
I did this exact process with my couch and chair cushions in my Airstream. The only difference is that I used grommets instead of safety pins. 👍🏼Worked so well.
Great idea, The box corners are so simple compared the sewing chair cushion I recently done, the back of which is incomplete so I'll get the safety pins 👍🌸
Wow, i will definitely be using your video when doing my first slipcover cushions. Could you please share your link on the actual slipcover for the sofa
I remember my first slipcover, it spent a couple months rolled up in a ball at the bottom of the closet! I was so frustrated lol. Second slipcover I started the pencil Mark's and it went much more smoothly lol
Hey Robin, so I am a mom of 4 and I have been in a search of a truly waterproof couch cover. I have tried everything from amazon and all that i could find are mostly water resistant (even the ones that say waterproof). I then thought of an idea: My waterproof mattress covers work perfectly and are ( truly waterproof.) I have bought many especially for those night where kiddos have accidents. Why dont they make couch covers with this same material? Could you please make a hack to sew my own couch covers with these fitted waterproof matress covers‽ I honestly dont care about the look, black matches everything. That would be amazing and a total game changer for me 🙏
That looks incredible! Will you cover the other couch as well? Really looks professional and will make life easier than always straightening out the fabric!!! #goals
Oh yes, I actually have move this sofa out of the living room since I filmed this video and I am taking the covers and hoping to adjust them to fit the remaining sofa
Thanks for these detailed instructions! I'm going to try this using a traditional roll of fabric instead of large sheets/cloth. I'll see how it goes lol
Thanks, Robin, for inspiring my after the holidays project! As a fellow "everything white" freak, I will do this with some canvas/duck cloth so it can be thrown into a bleach load if it gets dirty. How heavy is the fabric you used? How is everything holding up after a few months of use?
Any suggestion how to slipcover an L shaped small sectional with 6 square seat cushions and 8 loose back cushions? I will definitely try your method for the seat cushions.
Definitely doing this! Between the dogs and kid my couches are a wreck!
That is a great idee, thank you. At present I am doing a recliner, but will use your methods in futre.
When using a fabric that ravels, like denim, be certain to stabilize the raw edges so when laundered will not fray.
Looks great, I have a sofa that I want to change.

I sewed a complete slipcover and struggled so much. A simple pencil mark would have made all the difference! I have to laugh now! Thanks Robin.

Awesome project! Thanks so much 😀
Genius! Makes me wish I had a sewing machine. ❤️
Lisa Bruce Makes me wish I’d done better in my high school sewing class.
Nice! My dogs have totally trashed my sofa upholstery but the frame is still good. I'm going to give this a try! Thank you for sharing!
They have held up to my two fur babies very well. Hehe
@@RobinJohnsonDecor awesome! If I just throw a blanket on the couch, they throw it off in now time. Your method is nice and tucked in! 😊👍
Looks amazing!! I love your coffee table❤
Hi, operative word SHOULD lol. Safety pins YES never out dated. Thank you. God bless you all. 🙏🏽😘

The fabric I used is on the thin side. It is from Waverly and sold at Walmart. Seems to be holding up nicely, and wash up good too.
Awesome job Robin! It looks so cute!!
Thanks so much, I think it turned out nicely
Looks great I liked thank you for sharing.
So glad you enjoyed the video.
How much did it cost you to cover the whole sectional?
Turned out great!
You did a fantastic job on this Robin. It looks like a brand new sofa. Love the fabric choice too. It will go with all your seasons. Love this.
I love the fabric too, and like you said I think it will work well for different season.
Great job Robin! You made that scary curve look easy 😃 Thank you!
The first one may go slow but after that you will be a pro. Plus the beauty of this whole project is that it doe not have to be perfect at all.
Do you know of a white duck like fabric that has some stretch fibers in It? It seems that such a fabric would fit well. Do you agree?
Love this idea! Thank you.

So pretty. I dont sew but boy i wish i did.you have so much talent
I had thought that you could probably do this same this with fabric glue. It would be fun to try it out to see if it would work
@@RobinJohnsonDecor oh yeah i am a glue person. I like that idea
Looks awesome!!! 🤗
Slip cover Hack
Wowzers Robin, your lounge looks fabulous! So pretty

Was the nine yards of fabric for the whole couch or just the cushions

lol.
Who needs new furniture? Not me
Why do these people talk on and on and on without getting to a point. Do they think we don't understand plain English. I give up
You either have a cold or need your adenoids out
Love it, great job!!
