  • The public program, CONCRETO MASTERWORK, which complements the activities of CONCRETO ACADEMY, aims to engage the citizens of Ivrea on the themes of regeneration and sustainable restoration of the built heritage, a topic that aligns with the direction and invitation of European institutions to promote sustainability and innovation in the field of architectural heritage conservation.
CONCRETO MASTERWORK is curated by Livia Nervi, a curator and cultural producer, who graduated from the Royal College of Arts in London and holds a Master's degree from Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and by Michele Tobia, an architect with a Master's in Landscape and Garden Architecture from Iuav University of Venice, where he is currently a PhD candidate. The CONCRETO MASTERWORK series seeks to explore the symbiosis between architecture and nature, with a focus on revitalizing abandoned urban spaces into thriving micro-ecosystems.
On July 25th, 2024, this online lecture was held, serving as a prelude to the intensive workshops on August 3rd and 17th at the Ivrea UNESCO World heritage site.
The seminar was conducted by Luca Zilio and Michele Tobia from Università Iuav di Venezia. Luca Zilio offered a historical perspective on landscape projects within the context of industrial city planning, while Michele Tobia presented contemporary examples of landscape architecture that interact with modern structures, using abandonment as a tool and opportunity.
