one of my favorite Happy Place quotes- "He's a golden boy. I'm a girl whose life has been drawn in shades of grey." my first time consuming this book was in Audiobook format, i'm very much looking forward to getting a physical copy so i can annotate all the AMAZING quotes and beautiful things that are in these pages!
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone is actually a really solid read. I'm a psychologist myself, so I sometimes cringe when I read books written by therapists because they can be too self-helpy, but I think what makes this book work is the memoir aspect of it. I thought it was really enjoyable!

Totally get the anxiety at the start of this video, I found that when I start feeling like this I ask myself "what is the worst thing that can happen to me in this moment?" and that helps to put the task at hand into perspective. I've been struggling with work recently and I calm myself down before going into the office by asking the question "what is the worst thing that can happen to me?" and it instantly calms me down because I realise it's nothing I can't handle. Hope this helps someone x

I can relate so much to your feelings about doing things you feel scared about.
I relate so much when it comes to sending emails or calling someone, I'm always putting them aside and avoiding them. I'm proud of you for doing them bestie and it made me feel seen to be in each other's shoes.
I am the exact same thing with phone calls. I avoid so much and ignore so many people because I cannot do phone calls.

Relate so much to the social anxiety you feel with phone calls! I get physically ill when I'm anxious but I've gotten a lot better over the last few years. Just nice to see someone dealing with the same thing

This is so relatable, I'm 37 and I still get mad anxiety when I have to make a call or write a difficult email, facing it head on seems to be the quickest way to help but that doesn't always feel good so good on you for tackling your fears 😊!
Also I totally do the reward thing for afterwards too haha
First sending lots of hugs! Phone calls and admin tasks are really anxiety-inducing to some people and that’s understandable. Also, yes to libraries!! Libby is literally a lifesaver and with my Kindle, I saved more last year.

Can’t wait to pick my happy place up at the post office I had it preordered a year ago and almost forgot I did and nearly bought another one! I read twice shy from the library too and honestly I was disappointed you deserve each other is one of my favs so I expected it to be the same but I just didn’t care for the characters as much

I love library so much I am here like every week hehe 😆 It helps me to save so much money because I have a system.. Which is basically I borrow a book, start reading it, if I finish it then I ask myself if I loved it enough to reread it, if the answer is yes I wait for a bit (like a week or just 4 days) and let my thoughts settle down, and if my opinion didn't change and I still loved it a lot and want to reread that book now or in a future I go and buy it.

I’M CRYING I was also sobbing my heart out as I was reading Happy Place towards the end like how is that possible??? I felt like I was like Harriet once upon a time, I was THE ultimate people-pleaser and was doing everything that I could to make my parents proud, but I was also like Wyn in the sense that I was living under a sibling’s shadow and just “existing,” no one special. The fact that I could relate to both of them was insane ugh

haha that so funny you said you don't feel pressure when you borrow books from the library .. I feel SO MUCH pressure cause mine only rents for 21 days so sometimes it feels like a juggling match to reserve a book, wait for the books, then read all the books and not have them all come in at the same time, and only get halfway through or have none ready when I finish a book hahahaahaha
I noticed that you have changed your upload time BUT it also feels like you are smashing out more videos lately. You are truly spoiling us. 💖Also, i HATE phone calls too... BUT if i really HAVE to, the only thing that helps (slightly 😆) is putting the phone on loudspeaker and keeping the phone on the table the entire call. 🤷♀

I've read two of Emily Henry's books; Beach Read and Book Lovers. I am curious - do you have any siblings? Just because I loved the sister dynamic in Book Lovers and that is what made me rate it higher than Beach Read. Looking forward to reading Happy Place!!

Rachel working for yourself you probably aren’t thinking about work health and safety. Please think about having an ergonomic desk setup. Doing computer work can lead to repetitive strain injury if not careful. Wrist support is very important.
I think that people who love Emily Henry have a foggy perception of Happy Place. They go in already having convinced themselves they love it, rather than reading the book with a fresh perspective. I could be wrong. Just my opinion. And there was next to nothing happy about that book.
I hated book lovers. People we meet on vacation was meh, beach read was alright. Starting to think her writing isnt for me

I relate to the hating making phone calls part. 🥲🙈 I get a lot of anxiety about it and sometimes when I get calls, I just let them go to voicemail. But I’ve been trying to do better about it. 😊
