BC AWL 5 and the Raed Riglock have the locking features. There are some others also.

I do like the Super Good Enough.
Look at a Bowline and a Sheetbend. Same knot but one makes a loop and the other ties 2 ropes together.
A big shot is totally worth it for launching a throw ball. You can get a 6 oz. ball with fishing line to go far and be accurate.
