Wow! I can't neither understand why you don't have 200k subscribers nor what's going on with those few people who unliked this video. Each time I watch a video in your channel, I think the same. Really than you so much
Hi, Thank you for creating this video. I initially installed the 'official' DAZ to Blender Bridge. I kept having problems, in the fact that it would always import the same iteration of a previously exported DAZ export. This tutorial made the process much simpler than I expected. I was able to import different DAZ figures and manipulate the (within their limits). The best part of this is that I can now use DAZ with my Blender scenes. I look forward to watching more of your tutorials. Thank you
I have been found the ways imported to blender already 2days, cuz daz to blender addon can’t work to me. This video is really helpful. Thank you very much!
Thank you so much for covering this amazing plugin. If it weren't for you, I'd still be stuck with either OBJ/FBX imports or the broken official Daz to Blender converter
Amazing content guys keep it up! Atm I'm binge watching all your videos I'll do another pass later on to take some notes, It's just what I was looking for! As a committed art student and aspiring freelance artist I've found many good resources related to art fundamentals on the internet but what you do here, 3D reference for 2D illustrations, I haven't found it anywhere else. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the art community!
Thank you for this! I'm new to 3D modeling and primarily want to use it to create concept art. Most tutorials revolve around animation and game design. I'm going to try this method!
Note that you can get a full IK rig (either Rigify or MHX, MHX being the recommended one) with a single click, and bad deformations can generally be fixed by importing JCMs (including any custom JCMs that might come with extreme morphs). It's actually a weirdly powerful addon, and I'll never understand why Thomas Larsson gives it away for free;-)
I had an issue getting the diffiomorphic plugin to work because I was missing a path. So if you are windows 10 and missing paths. Try C:/Daz 3D/Applications/Data/DAZ 3D/My DAZ 3D Library
Hi polycosm, thank you so much for the tips you're so cute :D however, i can't select the rig of the body like you do it at 12:17 :( the only way to move my G8F model is unlocking the mesh's location, rotation & scale @ the item tab. But after that, the body bones remain there (and still can't select them, only the garment) do you have any advice how to fixing it? :(
That is really really odd, haven’t heard of that before! Are you able to send me a little video to polycosm.contact@gmail.com? Would be easier to help you that way. 😊
Thank you for the useful tutorial. Man it's a hassle to get those scripts running eh? But your walkthrough is concise and easy to follow, so thank you.
Thank you so much, helped me a lot! :) I have a question about posing the character in blender. I exported my character with clothes to blender and when i'm trying to change my character's pose the clothes don't moving with it. seems like because the clothes have bones as well. Can you help me, it's possible to move the clothes and the character mesh bones at the same time? thank you polycosm, and excuse my english please.
So glad it's been useful! You can move/rotate/scale both! Just have both of the armatures (skeletons" selected at the same time, and head into Pose Mode. 😊
Awesome tutorial, would you consider doing a tutorial on using all these techniques (with clothing) to setup a model for 3d printing (ie for miniatures) especially since clothing would need to be thickened to meet a 3d printer's specifications?
Thanks, Ross! ☺️ Oh, I’d love to do a series like that, but I don’t own a 3D Printer, nor can I afford one, so I wouldn’t know if what I’m doing is actually optimal and good for 3D prints. As for clothing, I think a simple Solidify modifier would work on the clothing to get them thick enough for 3D printing? 😊
Found very little documentation about Shapeways, but there’s a built in «3D-Print Toolbox» add-on in Blender which I’ve used quite a bit to fix models with holes, etc. previously. I’m guessing that sort of works the same way? 😌
*Excellent tutorial, but i have a question, where that i need to do if my model have a lot of morphs (shape keys) well controllers than i want to export into Blender? i checked the shape keys in Blender and nothing appears so....where it they go?*
Thanks, dude! Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with Shape Keys and DAZ models, so I can't help you out. Upon googling, there does seem to be a lot of information on that, so maybe try that?
question i have a file that is .blend. but they gave me a texture for its pose. do i need to put it on daz studio library and bridge the daz to blender? or can i use it directly to blender using the new add on of daz without bridging.
Excellent Video. I used 3ds max at work for years but the Daz Bridge for it isn't very good. I tried the Diffeomorphic plugin for Blender and I have to say it is fantastic. I just wish I was better with blender, it has quite a funky interface. One thing I'm struggling with is that when I import my character, I can select clothes, hair etc in the Blender viewport, but not the main figure mesh. Not unless I go into figure mode. I'm not sure if that is how it is supposed to be, or something has the body mesh frozen or locked in object mode. I didn't have this problem with the other Daz to Blender Bridge importer. I noticed that neither of the official bridges for Blender or Max transfer the figures as accurately, strange things with skinny pointed knees and shoulders. I can select the main characters body mesh though.
Great Tutorial. But I have a problem. DAZ creating the files as ".dbz" not ".dsf" or ".json" And blender can not see ".dbz" files. Am I missing something? (using macOS Catalina & DAZ 12.4.1)

I definitely find it much easier to pose models in DAZ! Blender is great too, but I find the deformations and limb limits in DAZ to be much better and more realistic. Check out our first Design Principles video for a more detailed description of my workflow ☺️

I can't wait for part 2. When will you upload it? Need to fix the lighting and texturing in Eevee, for now, I will use the official DaztoBlender Bridge because everything there is plug and play in Cycles. But it crashes in Eevee and texture mode. The diffeomorphic plug in doesn't crash but the texture and the lighting still needed some tweaking in Eevee and I'm waiting for your tutorial about rendering with Eevee. Edit: i read your reply to other comments. Too bad, August 17 is still too far away :D
Hey can u guys make a tutorial about how u go about rendering your illustrations? Like what are the steps you take to render the folds and creases of clothing?
i think ill be playing with both versions i bought the mitchy version when it was on gumroad its pretty powerful if you want to go crazy on characters given that it plays well with rigify making adding extra limbs and stuff a bit easier.. but its just way easier to pose characters in daz for 2d art...havnt tried this addon yet but ill give it a go.. make a pose in daz and adjust the collisions in blender manually to make sure it doesnt look odd is pretty appealing to me...
I never even heard of the Mitchy version! Hope you find either of the two versions (Diffeomorphic or the official bridge) useful! 😄 I’ve heard most people side with the Diffeomorphic one, like myself.
You mean a DAZ model that isn’t a DAZ model? I’m sure it’s possible, but I’d have no idea where to start with that, sorry. 😔 Has google yielded any useful results?
@@POLYCOSM No, I haven't been able to get any results. The only thing I found was being able to use third-party DAZ models... DAZ models not from the website and that doesn't help 😔
Can it already imported higher detailed models? I remember v 1.4.1 and the imported models were quite low on details since its exporting a sublevel 0. Its really a shapeless figure.
downloaded stable version and still get file path messages. went and found them but still no dice after plugging them in and saving settings. I just got 2.9 could that be an issue?
Is that the 2.9 beta or the 2.9+ alpha that you’re using? Not sure what the problem can be. 😕 Are you using the stable or experimental version of the plugin? Maybe that might be the issue?
Let's say you want to import a pose. So in order for the pose to work on all the objects like hair, clothes and other accessories that you have imported do I need to save both the .duff file and the .dbz file. it seems that whenever I import pose It only applies to Daz figure not hairs, cloth, and other stuff.
@@POLYCOSM The only way I found is to reskin those objects to Genesis 8 Armature. It will work for most object except heels and outfit needs to be simulated again or clipping occurs.
I tried this addon a while back and even did some work on the panel design. I didn't really liked it, didn't had nice results. I just found the "official" addon which was made by Mitchy, that one is much simpler to use and and super nice. Have your tried that one already? One downside, is that its limited on importing certain stuff. Im trying to see if i can bypass this. Ive already ported that version also to blender 2.79 for my old mac :)
Haha nevermind, i commented right before you got to that part. I see the DIffeomorphic version has been updated to my design. Still it has to much space. The panel is HUGE, he should clean it up better
I cannot install it. I get a long error message - Traceback (most recent call last)... and cannot enable the add on. I tried installing the dropbox version and it was empty. Any ideas?
Well, it’s difficult for me to say without seeing what you’re doing. 😅 Have you checked the error log? Perhaps you can send a screenshot of your current paths?
@@POLYCOSM Hi Christina ! Here is the link - imgur.com/a/JY0lav2 I tried whole day changing path settings in the addon but didnt work. May be you can fix it.
@@NipunShastri Did you try to connect to "My DAZ 3D Library" instead of "My DAZ Connect Library"? and also to "\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library"? Without seeing your error log, I have no idea what specifically is missing. Reset the paths and import a model. Check out the error log, then copy/paste the paths leading to the missing assets. Hope that helps!
Heya, love your name 🤣 Blender is just a versatile toolbox whether you’re doing concept art, animation, modeling, sculpting, etc. And I see DAZ as just a simple tool that, when combined with Blender, can create some really cool stuff 😄 In our first Design Principles video I talk about how 3D can be a super useful learning tool, and how I use Blender as my platform for that - if you’re interested in hearing more about this ☺️
@@POLYCOSM haha thanks. Yea ill check that out I'm just wondering if it's worth learning daz or if I should just learn blender instead if it's a better software
Learn DAZ if you want to get poseable models, but use Blender for rendering them. That’s what I do. I never EVER used DAZ for anything other than a model posing software, and did everything else in Blender.
@@POLYCOSM why do you use blender to render? don't you get better renders with iray? ive tried exporting a model from daz to blender and rendered it with both cycles and evee..and they look terrible compared to iray. cycles wasn't as bad but it's still looked bad compared to the iray render...
Because I dislike DAZ’s interface and tools with an intense passion, haha! Blender’s just way more user friendly, has way more to offer, and I don’t need the best quality renders for what I do (which is book cover illustrations) ☺️
sorry, i'm just a beginner and in the process of figuring it all out, but i don't understand, why people export models to Blender? is it because it's easier to make fully rigged, textured and posed model in DAZ (considering mind-blowing amount of content) so you can do whatever you like with it in Blender which is much more user friendly? it seems to be so for me personally. but maybe there are other reasons? so how the perfect workflow looks for me: you create model in DAZ, texture her, dress her, pose her and export her to Blender where you can make whatever scene and environment you want?
DAZ is best suited for figure-related stuff, so if you just want general reference or to create 3D models, it’s a solid software. However, Blender is an all-purpose type software if you want to make animation, game assets, 3D rendered scenes, etc. DAZ has some of these features, but in my opinion the UI is horrible and I find it so difficult to use it for anything else other than figure posing. Personally I use DAZ to pose my figures initially, then import them to Blender, build a whole scene, render the scene and paint over everything in Photoshop. So you can see it as such: DAZ is a tool, like a hammer in a toolbelt, and Blender IS the toolbelt including many other tools. Hope that makes sense!
the daz bridge plugin doesnt exports the male model correctly , the scale is off and the rig is also very primitive as compared to the female model , which is decent, i cant find any videos where they cover exporting the male model coz . the male model also imports with an error without the ability to switch between ik and fk. i am on blender 2.92 and DAz 4.15 pro
@@POLYCOSM yes both of them are genesis 8 characters . The female model along with props works perfectly , but the male model only works without the props (clothes) . After export The rig is identical to the female model , but it only exports when we no props and hairs are turned on .
I thought this was gonna work. Not really. Daz official bridge worked fine first time but after that no matter how many times I add a new character, only the first one I added to blender comes up in the add-on. So I tried this my folder is c not like d like yours so thought it work but it didn't do I put the path just to one and put that as my lib / scenes,bc that's where all the files that I save. And then when I add the character. Only the hair and cloths came and half of the rig , saying error as some assets are missing. How do I fix any of this? . And only add the data to blender I think it doesn't show the daz file when you try to open with blender. Also I don't get the json file Edit. Fixed it
It's just a pity that it's possible to go back from Blender to DAZ studio, but I can't move them anymore and you don't even have the texture there or im just are amater .
@@POLYCOSM it is a very frustrating process. do you have discord?? I would like this to work as its slowing down production for me. if you can help me on discord I will pay you $.
I'm not DAZ user but recently got a model that I need to bring to blender. It's a Theater and it's in DAZ: drive.google.com/file/d/1O6yFk_YhaI9X2tyn981hsNy1nQ10kGWK/view?usp=sharing I use Linux also and I don't want to go trough all this installations so I appreciate if you can help me converting it to .blend. Thank you.
If you're going to reference someone else's video, it's only useful if yoyu actually link the video you're referencing. I tried finding Nazaranio's, (or however it's spelled), video because I've been having nothing but problems getting the bridge to work, but I couldn't find it. So all you accomplished is "The info you want is in someone else's video, good luck f**ker". That's extremely frustrating.

i think ill be playing with both versions i bought the mitchy version when it was on gumroad its pretty powerful if you want to go crazy on characters given that it plays well with rigify making adding extra limbs and stuff a bit easier.. but its just way easier to pose characters in daz for 2d art...havnt tried this addon yet but ill give it a go.. make a pose in daz and adjust the collisions in blender manually to make sure it doesnt look odd is pretty appealing to me...
I never even heard of the Mitchy version! Hope you find either of the two versions (Diffeomorphic or the official bridge) useful! 😄 I’ve heard most people side with the Diffeomorphic one, like myself.
Is it possible to pose an external model on DAZ please @POLYCOSM
You mean a DAZ model that isn’t a DAZ model? I’m sure it’s possible, but I’d have no idea where to start with that, sorry. 😔 Has google yielded any useful results?
@@POLYCOSM No, I haven't been able to get any results. The only thing I found was being able to use third-party DAZ models... DAZ models not from the website and that doesn't help 😔
Aw, I’m sorry dude ☹️ And sorry I couldn’t be of help!
Can it already imported higher detailed models? I remember v 1.4.1 and the imported models were quite low on details since its exporting a sublevel 0. Its really a shapeless figure.
THe subd in Blender also kinda ruines the form of the model. I try not to use it since it kinda destroy the nice shapes
To me they look exactly like they do in DAZ pretty much, so I haven’t really run into the issue of them not looking highly detailed enough. 😗
downloaded stable version and still get file path messages. went and found them but still no dice after plugging them in and saving settings.
I never import with clothes/hair, so I have no idea how to do that, sorry. 😔
@@POLYCOSM The only way I found is to reskin those objects to Genesis 8 Armature. It will work for most object except heels and outfit needs to be simulated again or clipping occurs.
or tweak bone weight using wait paint.
Good to know, thanks Tengen! 😄
how to use face units diffeomorphic in blender
I'm trying to load the setting file, but where i can find the .json file ?
Uh.. I imported my figure and the bone rig moves in pose mode, but the character doesn't follow. What did I do wrong?
I cannot install it. I get a long error message - Traceback (most recent call last)... and cannot enable the add on. I tried installing the dropbox version and it was empty.
Any ideas?
Can I do this with Blender 2.79?
Why on earth would you want to use such outdated software? Haha. Honestly, I’m not sure. I’d check the website for compatibility. 😊
Because my laptop is a potato. 🥔
Awh, fair enough :’) I just Googled it, and yup, you can use the add-on with 2.79 ☺️
@@POLYCOSM Thank you very much.
I tried all the paths but it doesn't seems to be pointing them correct. I don't know what I am missing.
Well, it’s difficult for me to say without seeing what you’re doing. 😅 Have you checked the error log? Perhaps you can send a screenshot of your current paths?
@@POLYCOSM where should I send the screenshot? Can I send you by mail?
You can drop it on imgur and send me the image link? 😊
@@POLYCOSM Hi Christina ! Here is the link - imgur.com/a/JY0lav2
I tried whole day changing path settings in the addon but didnt work.
I have problem when i import my model mash is broken or some part is invisible.
Are you using the official DAZ addon, or the Diffeomorphic version?
@@POLYCOSM yes i use diffeomorphic version.can you give me your email i will send my ss.
My email is christina@myrvold.org 😊
@@POLYCOSM please check mail box and which version are use
I’ve replied to you. 😊
Does anyone know anything about the new "To Rigify" button? 😭
Hi, i'm a new daz user and I just found out about people moving their stuff to blender...any reasons for that?
My brain just exploded
Haha! Glad it was helpful 😄
sorry, i'm just a beginner and in the process of figuring it all out, but i don't understand, why people export models to Blender?
is it because it's easier to make fully rigged, textured and posed model in DAZ (considering mind-blowing amount of content) so you can do whatever you like with it in Blender which is much more user friendly? it seems to be so for me personally. but maybe there are other reasons?
so how the perfect workflow looks for me: you create model in DAZ, texture her, dress her, pose her and export her to Blender where you can make whatever scene and environment you want?
Huh, that is odd! The female and male rig should be exactly the same. Are you sure both of them are Genesis 8 models?
@@POLYCOSM yes both of them are genesis 8 characters . The female model along with props works perfectly , but the male model only works without the props (clothes) . After export The rig is identical to the female model , but it only exports when we no props and hairs are turned on .
No idea why that is! I never import with hair and props, so I wouldn’t know how to fix that issue, sorry 😕
Sounds like someone's constantly tickling you when you speak. Thanks for the tut.
Also I don't get the json file
Edit. Fixed it
Glad you managed to fix the issue, Leslie! 😄
@@POLYCOSM 😁😁
It's just a pity that it's possible to go back from Blender to DAZ studio, but I can't move them anymore and you don't even have the texture there or im just are amater .
Mam please teach in hindi language subtitles because indian person so many person want to learn blender
Your views increase definitely ❤️❤️❤️❤️
We don’t speak Hindi, so not sure how that would work 😆 Thanks for the suggestion, though!
@@POLYCOSM mam use Google help।

Use hindi translation
@@POLYCOSM mam you can use hindi subtitles
You can use the auto-translate feature on TH-cam for that 😊
this addon did not work properly. how do I remove it??? its causing issues with daz3d . doesnt work at all :(
Are you using DAZ’s official add-on or the Diffeomorphic version?
@@POLYCOSM diffeomorphic
Hmm, I assume you just delete the script you need to add in DAZ? Does that not resolve any issues you might be facing?
@@POLYCOSM it is a very frustrating process. do you have discord?? I would like this to work as its slowing down production for me. if you can help me on discord I will pay you $.
I’m sorry, I don’t know the exact method in which you remove a script. I won’t be of any help unfortunately 😔 Perhaps re-install DAZ?
I tryed 2 times to install that program, but 1 time the server dont load and 2 time my laptop say its a virus. Idk :(
You mens DAZ? It’s just like any other software, really.
No.... cant import anything it just do nothing the import daz file button in blender
Do I detect an Austrian Accent??
Haha, quite far off! I’m from Norway 😋
this is so much. i give up 🤣
the script stoped working
Huh, that’s odd! Have you emailed the creator?
I'm not DAZ user but recently got a model that I need to bring to blender. It's a Theater and it's in DAZ:
drive.google.com/file/d/1O6yFk_YhaI9X2tyn981hsNy1nQ10kGWK/view?usp=sharing
I use Linux also and I don't want to go trough all this installations so I appreciate if you can help me converting it to .blend.
Thank you.
^^
😄
If you're going to reference someone else's video, it's only useful if yoyu actually link the video you're referencing. I tried finding Nazaranio's, (or however it's spelled), video because I've been having nothing but problems getting the bridge to work, but I couldn't find it. So all you accomplished is "The info you want is in someone else's video, good luck f**ker". That's extremely frustrating.
