I think the idea is to either laugh at them before you bowl them over or suffer to make an empire worthy of their overblown names.
The first time I balkanized Russia and discovered some "Realm of the Great God of Light" was my puppet I knew I had won the game.
It's funny, cause some of the alternative names are dull, some are pretty original. But then you get a name like the "Empire Of The Sands" or "Empire Of Fire", which sounds like something straight out of a fantasy book. Same goes for the flags as well!
I'm honestly baffled that you wanted to do this for just 500 subs, as this is a herculean task. I use this video as background for when I'm doing other stuff on my computer. Well done!

This was entertaining to listen to. I don't get to see a lot of these in the wild, but a lot of them sound fun.
My only, criticism of the video would be the music. There are times when the background music is as loud or in some instances, louder than you are. Just tone the volume down a bit and you're golden.

If the pronounciation is the thing you're really anxious, you should try Wikipedia (English + related language of proper noun word phonetics you want to know about), Wiktionary (English as well, perhaps other languages' versions as well), Forvo or something like that to find the exact samples of voice pronouncing words and find something about the IPA and how to decypher the phonetical records written by the IPA. Hope you'll find something useful and relieve yourself of worries.

I don't think the Democratic Bulgaria flag is necessarily incorrect. That emblem represents the Tsardom, and you aren't required to abolish this system in the democratic path. In such a case it would be a mistake to remove the emblem.

German Austria couldn‘t be used because that‘s the first name given to democratic austria after WW1
That name was dropped because the Entente wouldn't allow the implication of Austria being a German client state. Why would a hypothetical Austria under the control of its local Nazi branch not use this name? They're gunning for Austria's annexation, it'd makes total sense for them to revive the German Austria name.

Fascist states calling themselves free is like communist ones calling themselves democratic. Also funny how the Antilles never gets rid of the British part of the name.
It usually made sense for them to call themselves like that. Fascist/nationalist movements were often most radical movements for independence so it can fit for some countries. And for communist democracy. Democracy is not just general elections. Democracy is power to the people (common folk) and that is pretty much what all communist revolutions were about. What happens much later (like in case of North Korea) is the other thing.
Why don’t you study the political structure of the Soviet State before making judgments like that. Even in Stalin’s time there was collective leadership and elections, they just worked differently compared to how liberal democracies function.
When the only candidates are pre-approved by the Party, elections are a farce. As for collective leadership, organizations such as trade unions were instrumentalized by the state in order to control the workers instead of representing them.

Btw according to my German I can half confirm that the fascist name for East Germany (DNSR) stands for Deutsche National Sozialistische Republik. But I’m not sure if that kind of superiority can be considered as a “republic”. Or a more generic name “Die National Sozialistische Regierung”
Technically it can be considered such, because there's no crown or monarch involved. Republics aren't always democracies and democracies aren't always republics.
