Oh my God I think she has one of the best voices (or maybe the best voice) in music ever. Even today. She is 60 years old now, and she still can sing as she did back in the 80's
2019!! And still love this song and think Cyndi Lauper is one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever! Let me know...let everyone know...if you agree by commenting. Peace!
Cyndi is for sure one of the greatest talents and has written some beautiful songs. “I’m Gonna Be Strong” however is not in her glorious catalogue but was written by Cynthia Weil and her husband Barry Mann. It was one of or perhaps Gene Pitney’s biggest hits. He recorded it in 1964. I love this live version and all her live versions of this song. XO
This is nothing-short of magnificent. She didn't resonate w/me when I was a teen; "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" IS, undeniably, a perfect Pop song - but I had it played AT me too many times. It wasn't until several years later that I saw an interview with her, and was completely awestruck at her candor, strength, compassion, and brilliance. A Songwriter's SONGWRITER, she has something that (although not anything actually like Edith Piaf, in-terms of style) hearkens-to Piaf, somehow - which is not to imply that there's ANYTHING derivative about her; she's her own universe; and I kinda feel moved in my soul by her music and integrity. She's a living legend.
I have always liked Cyndi Lauper 'shit singles like everyone else. However, when I heard her sing this song live at a concert in Los Angeles - I was blown away! To say her vocals on this song are a magical experience is an understatement. Also the lyrics of strength and weakness are so universal I WISH it was a hit so others could enjoy this song over and over again like I do.
This is the version with Vision I have been searching for. This performance really displays the talent that is Cyndi. Stage presence, Powerful voice. Much more suited to this than the popular stuff that sold millions
This is one of her finest gone unappreciated, if you ask me. Those last notes are mind blowing. You try it, I have. This show proves she was not just a few hit club dance song wonder but a singer with real chops! Bravo Cyndi.Brava.
Good version,, but no-one has ever matched the raw power of Gene Pitney's voice in the original 60's version. Every time you hear the ending it sends shivers through your soul
Seen her in 2010 in Montréal and at the time she was 57 and still had the " torque " for a outstanding show with professionals as always. Performed as originals. Real artist, real woman, real 100% :D
Makes me proud to be from Brooklyn... Canarsie, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, Midwood, Bushwick, Flatbush- my old stomping grounds... That's the "real" Brooklyn, to me...
Every time I think I have figured out her talents she surprises me with another one. Now i find out she plays the accordion. How many different instruments does she play?! She is not just a talented singer.....she is an great artist!!
Cyndi always puts feeling into her singing and gives a wonderful performance and the ending is beautiful! It’s so wrong to compare Cyndi’s version with Gene Pitney’s,they each give their own rendition in their characteristic style!
I think there are singers who "have a date" with songs... some other singers can make a hit out of a song, but later some other singer comes and really makes it as it should have sound in the first place... The crying at the end is just thrilling, and very few can sing such passionate. This is a hurt song, so it had to be sung like that.
This is my absolute favorite performance of this song live. Such an artist. However, I love her voice more on the live video when she was in Blue Angel. She also said she was tired from all the touring. I don't know how she does it. I sing a BIT and I get hoarse if I sing for a few days. Cyndi is fantastic. I really was impressed with the video (not live) At Last. Cyndi, you keep grwing in your craft or should I say, I never tire of hearing you.
Wow! This is a real voice. About "Twelve Deadly Cyns..." it is just a shame they didn't include great songs like "A Night To Remember", "Goonies" and "Heading West".
This would've been the new I Will Always Love You in 94 had her label and radio promoted it a lot. A missed opportunity for sure considering the glass breaking force of this song and her unmatched vocals by any other diva then and now.
this the video u told me about? lol! wow she's so pretty here and get voice is so beaauiful! omg! that song make me cry! it was this one song she sung....that high note had me jump...can't remember the name of it! anyways, omg she did better here then blue Angel! wooooowww!!!
Sliver Davis Wooow she did nailed this better than when she was in the Blue Angel group?? Omg...lol I listened to the right one then hahahahaha I just LOVE Cyndi Lauper she's very funny, gorgeous, and has a powerful voice!!!
Never ever doubted it Ted. Once again i have just picked myself up off the floor after listening to this ! Lets have a laugh and imagine one of todays hippo mouthed yodellers trying to match it.
Perfect! In a world without Auto-Tune.
She deserves more recognition. She's up there with the legendary vocalists.
Oh my God
I think she has one of the best voices (or maybe the best voice) in music ever.
Even today. She is 60 years old now, and she still can sing as she did back in the 80's
Still the best voice in the world
I agree. Preserve her at all cost
100%
There will never be enough recorded live performances of Cyndi Lauper...
Seriously. So true. I need a compilation of them all on an album. Ha
Probably the best live vocal I have ever heard
My queen. My pop music female DIVA. And listen to her voice makes me live
2019!! And still love this song and think Cyndi Lauper is one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever! Let me know...let everyone know...if you agree by commenting. Peace!

Few would even attempt to do this song. She rocked.
I love cyndi lauper forever....
The best femalesinger of north america. Just luv er
Brilliant performance! Great song to highlight Cyndi's vocals that are both- tender wisp and powerful force.
Good version,, but no-one has ever matched the raw power of Gene Pitney's voice in the original 60's version. Every time you hear the ending it sends shivers through your soul

Perfect song! Perfect Cyndy Lauper!
2020 Pandemic and this still the best and strongest voice Ive heard.

This song always reaches the depth of my heart every time!
Incredible Cindi Lauper.... LOVE YOU!
This is the only person who covered this song and did it justice. She's not Gene Pitney ... but she's the next best thing.
After all the hoopla...this woman can really SING!!!
I absolutely love this Cyndi Lauper's version of Gene Pitney's classic
Stunning performance, such a talented singer
the old mtv was great. i miss the 90s very much
La Reyna del Pop Punk!!
She is not unusual, she's unique. Full stop
she's really graceful!!!!!
I could listen to a whole album of Cyndi singing to this kind of arrangement
2020...40 anos de idade. Minha favorita Diva desde os meus 6 ou 7 anos. Não tenho palavras para descrever o meu amor por esta mulher. Perfeição!
Amazing live vocal performance.
I saw her on this tour..with the bright canary yellow hair. She was fantastic and I so wish I get another opportunity to share an evening with her.
Brilliant She's just Great.
Love her lyrics. Make you really feel something. X 😎😎😎
Stunning, a really star!
Fascinante....amo su voz, su estilo, su sonrisa....
Huge, powerful voice, beautiful song, talented woman, she;s the whole package!!!!!! =)
30年ずっとファン😫もう1度、日本で観たかった😢
Wow, i was dubious about hearing her singing this song live after watching the official video. She nailed it.
Truth Dante and this wasn’t even a great version for her. She’s sung it live much better than this on several occasions!
Always felt she had one of the best voices in Rock and Roll....this confirms it....such an original.
Cyndi always puts feeling into her singing and gives a wonderful performance and the ending is beautiful! It’s so wrong to compare Cyndi’s version with Gene Pitney’s,they each give their own rendition in their characteristic style!
CYNDI, I LOVE YOU. SUAS CANÇÕES FAZEM PARTE DA MINHA HISTORIA.
I really love this song!!
Que voz! Meu Deus!

Qué potente e impresionante voz... ¡ Me encanta!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the very end of that!

Blue angel version on that 1980 U.K show pop rock was an absolute banger
Quelle performance WOW!
Wow! This is a real voice.
About "Twelve Deadly Cyns..." it is just a shame they didn't include great songs like "A Night To Remember", "Goonies" and "Heading West".
The best voice in the world
Thank good for Apple Music these days
This was her best cover song in my opinion, so powerful.....
@jarmyvicious
Cover song? I thought her band Blue Angel wrote it?
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Gene Pitney performed it well over a decade before her... look it up, quite powerful... and the ending, Wow!
Just AMAZING!
Unbelieveble!
Very impressive performance - 12 Deadly did very well for her selling 6 million copies worldwide. Cyndi has definitely had her chart moments :)
Love that hair.
You can find lots of Whitney and Mariah in Asia. But there is only 1 Cyndi Lauper.
Amo essa mulher a 29 anos...
lol dude the intro was gold
This would've been the new I Will Always Love You in 94 had her label and radio promoted it a lot. A missed opportunity for sure considering the glass breaking force of this song and her unmatched vocals by any other diva then and now.
Simplismente espetacular! Genial!
This just Blew me away at the End!

My opinion only. But This is her best cover. Love you Cyndi!

Gold Davis hahhahahahah! Heck yes I think this one is better! She is definitely one of the best 89s stars ever
Sliver Davis hands down....I agree with you end of story HAHAHAHA!!!
Gold Davis hahhahahahahahhaha! Amen to that one
Outstanding live singer, I notice she's using an SM57 mic live during this period, weird mic choice, it was made for instruments not voices
Well her voice is no doubt an instrument
ICON
Glad she re-recorded it! Still an overlooked brilliant performance like Pat Benatar's "Don't Let Show"!
If anybody doubted that Cyndi could sing, just watch this. As for the previous comment, ????????
I so agree with you....CYNDI Does have the BEST Female Singer..RIGHT Along with LINDA Rhonstat
Never ever doubted it Ted. Once again i have just picked myself up off the floor after listening to this ! Lets have a laugh and imagine one of todays hippo mouthed yodellers trying to match it.
