It's very dangerous to go around saying that HIV isn't that serious anymore unless you are a licensed physician. All immune systems aren't the same.
It's not. You've gotta realize Flame came up in a day where you were diagnosed with AIDS and not HIV and had just a few more months to live, maybe a full year if you were lucky. Nobody in her day would have ever thought in their wildest dreams you could live 5, 20, or 30 years with a HIV diagnosis. In this day and age if you contract HIV its more likely than not you're taking part in at-risk behavior.

HIV is actually increasing in some places in the US. Women and men, hetero and LGBT, need to protect themselves before you get something you can't return

It “only mutates” -, when it becomes resistant to medications which are ‘started then stopped’ allowing the virus to recover from being recessed. It does NOT MUTATE at any other time, which is why people are able to be treated and can live with HIV because they consistently take the med which is assigned and the virus has never had any chance to comeback from being suppressed by the particular medication cocktail that has to continue to be taken.
Soo many people make some strains of HIV resistant, and that’s why there are strains which are resistant to all of the cocktails - because the host has tried then stopped on all available cocktails - so there is not treatment for that strain. This is why it’s dangerous to get infected today - because you risk a chance of acquiring. The strain from a host who has made their strain resistant to all medications and for anyone who gets that strain, there is no hope nor help for any kind of treatment. There are only a few type of cocktails for HIV so using all of those options up makes that strain immune to any treatment.
Next time learn and know what you’re talking about? Else you spread wrong information and make people scared of HIV for the wrong reasons. HIV is for the most part treatable (if you don’t have a resistant strain!), so knowing your STATUS and knowing which treatment works for you, will allow you to love an almost normal life.
If they have a prevention, they also have a cure...

Flame is a good representation of herself within the LGBTQ community. She deserves to be visible and respected. Persons should not take her story as the only one or the dominant one of the community. It's a community of many letters because there are many different kinds of people. These people come together to form solidarity but not a single entity.
