Why is everyone and their mother harping on the graphics? Do they not understand that the art style of the series is not supposed to be realistic, but rather stylized and comicbook-y? Is it too difficult for their minds to process that maybe not every video game wants realistic-looking graphics?
I think people are upset over the textures and lack of visual improvement over the last games, not the art style itself. Also people seem more upset about the dull gameplay we’re being shown.

the person playing was clearly not playing with the intention of playing well. This was footage sent to ign by the devs meant to show off gameplay elements like puzzle solving and enemy variety, without giving too much. The person playing clearly takes a lot of time panning the camera to show off the environment and the enemies, and stops to let the viewer observe new puzzle elements as they are introduced.
People are criticizing this game because it doesn't look up to par with current AAA standards - and I agree. As a mega-fan of Darksiders, I can fully admit that this does not look up to par with modern titles. However, what you need to keep in mind are these things. -the game is not yet finished -the game is not a triple A title to begin with, but more a AA title in the vein of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Vampyr, Bound By Flame, Hellblade, and stuff like that -it doesn't need to be super innovative and impressive for us Darksiders fans to love it. This game should have been released years ago, and we're beyond lucky that it's a thing. -Darksiders is special because of its characters, surprisingly entertaining story, cool world/lore, the artstyle, and its carefree combat/gameplay. It's a quite casual experience to be honest, but that's fine and I love it for it. -it's an oldschool action adventure View it as a game that is 5 years late, and back then it would've already been a throwback to older games.
To everyone complaining about "dull gameplay" keep in mind that the person is probably using the same combo's. This is how it always is when game journalists play games. They're usually terrible, like Polygon's DOOM 2016 gameplay. And to everyone complaining about the graphics, what do you want? It's not supposed to be realistic, that's how the art style has always looked. And TBH is looking beautiful. And to everyone complaining about loot drops, they probably changed it, they made changes from Darksiders 1 to 2, it's most likely the same scenario. But I have noticed Fury using a different whip so who knows. When you support this game then they will eventually be able to afford to make the 4th games where you might see more features. And quit looking for what 3 doesn't have and look for what it does have.

I feel like if they just played like a normal player and stop trying to "showcase" everything, it would've been 10x better. One Eyed Ken they have only ahowed the straight up melee spamming. Wait till they add the combo, alternate weapons, extra unlocked combats, arcane magic, transformation and finishers like the first 2 games and it'd look far betyer.
1. this is almost definitely very early in the game, so no cool moves and close to 0 combos available. 2. they probably don't want to show off the combos till much closer to the release date to build hype when people will actually be able to buy the game.
Not sure if you all realize that the whip is Fury's base melee weapon, and represents the most basic and innate of her offensive abilities. Fury is a mage! and will have something akin to multiple elemental forms she can assume to suit specific environments and challenges at hand. I think it may behoove us to keep in mind that the studio will be taking this whip in many interesting directions, and not to write it off completely w/ so little information. Also for those who are unaware, many of the devs at Gunfire games originally were members of Vigil games! The studio behind the original 2 games!
I like how they changed the way the whip sounds. Before, it sounded like it was just slapping something really hard. No real impact. Now, it sounds more like it’s actually slicing something up.
It's just too slow for me, I loved and finished both Darksiders 1 and 2, the whip feels clunky in combos I wish they made it more like Lords of Shadow whip. I will buy the game coz I love the lore and I wanna see what happens to the Horsemen but it needs more help

THQ got bankrupt , it is amazing they even managed to find enough money to make this game. So yes, it is a downgrade, and dont expect it not to be. It will release as a downgraded game, all we can hope for is that it being as fun as DarkSiders 1. Because if they earn enough money with this game, they might just save the whole series.
Me as a veteran to this series just by looking at the puzzles it’s very easy and self explanatory unlike the puzzles that will make you cry in ds1 and 2, so everything you see now for my knowledge it’s very early I would say its about the time where death meets crow is when fury meets the first boss.

They represent passing area for the Horseman. Think about it. War went into one, Death arrived at Earth in one, it is only fitting that Fury start the game in one. I am sure Strife will see a train station as well.

What's up with people who record these types of videos stopping to pan the camera around dramatically and also not being able to play the game? Like..dodge and attack dude. Come on. And stop walking slowly through areas and spinning the camera around. Just show the game and do your role play fantasies on your own time.
Is this a real question? Because it's gameplay footage likely commissioned by the Devs to show off elements of the game. I agree that the player was pretty bad but the camera question is fairly straight forward.
AresProject so..is your question a real question? You're agreeing with me. The camera portion of the question isnt a given. That's not gameplay. That's someone being silly and not playing the game.
When you showcase gameplay the developers want you to show little textures and eviroments of the game and not just one element like gameplay hence the panning and walking slow. They want you to take in the atmosphere. If it was showcasing gameplay then they probably wouldn't pan and walk slow and just show combat and little puzzle action if the devs want you to show them.
It’s because the person playing is a total noob... And from the looks of it, it’s an early part of the game. And it’s still in development right now. I expect it to get much more fast paced.
The puzzle stuff brings flashbacks to the clone yourself portal puzzles while running the bombs of the previous entries, hope these clips are from early game and hope they have plenty of puzzles throughout.
For the people complaining about the visuals if you want a Uncharted 3 vs 4 level off visual upgrade sadly you need a lot of money try to remember this isn't a AAA dev and Sony isn't backing them. Also there is a lot of improvements over 2, that game had a lot of pop in, there wasn't any reflections in water, and if you do reply it the textures where low res even on Death and other NPC's
TheOne Ay, sprint is not ruining many games such as fps. But in action rpg, I agree that sprint will make the games less *interesting. So rideable pet is the great option when travelling through the bigger environment.
I’m huge fan of Darksiders series, and i can’t wait to play this game! The only thing i wish to see in full version compared to this demo is finishers (they was always a part of the game) and more effects like particles, fog, heat effects from fire and etc.!
Looks like very generic combat I saw nothing special no signature attacks or finishing moves it would have also been cool to have your whip change into a sword and do some combo moves while switching back and fourth . The environments look awesome but the game itself looks like a huge step back in my opinion combat wise. I hope there is a lot more to this game than meets the eyes because as is this could be a series killer and it's got me worried .I'm also hoping this is just a dungeon type area and we have some open world environments .
Let me remind you that War belongs to Chaoseater, a sword, Death belongs to his scythes, Furt belongs to her whip, and Strife belongs to his pistols. Their weapons separate them as do their attitudes. If Fury had a sword, what would War have? Death only had one of Strife's pistols and I am unclear as to why the Makers had it in the first place. Even still with the pistol, Scythes are still the weapon of Death.
Honestly I'd just buy this game just to support the devs. After all this series has gone through the fact that they pulled through and decided to give it another shot Is admirable.
I waaaay prefer this compass over a minimap. It suggests where you should go while a minimap straight up tells you. A minimap is just distracting to me as I'll be looking more to that than the actual game when navigating. I love that more and more games are going for a compass over a minimap

I love the way the game looks! I do hope they updated the hp bar before release though. It’s so simple it’s distracting.
The whip attacks look so much better than the pre-alpha footage we got last year. And I'm so glad to hear Phil LaMarr reprising his character again.

For someone who has a whip, Fury feels like like she has a distinct lack of range and fluidity.
Mainly because she is using the same 3-hit combo throughout. I suspect there will be more options.

Some mixed feelings I've got... Darksiders 2 was a game changer
• Didn't notice any *wearable armour*
• Haven't noticed any finishing moves either...
• Haven't seen anything new yet... like anything... 😦 More like features are deduced...
P.S.- It's just some of my criticisms. Don't get me wrong. It's still on making process ik ik... Also it could be at the very beginning of the game... I really hope they'll add more stuffs and tease better with more immersive stuffs 💚 I'm a DS fan since it's initial so yeah chill. I love this game 😉

THQ got bankrupt , it is amazing they even managed to find enough money to make this game. So yes, it is a downgrade, and dont expect it not to be. It will release as a downgraded game, all we can hope for is that it being as fun as DarkSiders 1. Because if they earn enough money with this game, they might just save the whole series.
Me as a veteran to this series just by looking at the puzzles it’s very easy and self explanatory unlike the puzzles that will make you cry in ds1 and 2, so everything you see now for my knowledge it’s very early I would say its about the time where death meets crow is when fury meets the first boss.

They need to add more particle effects like when fury walks there's no dust or dirt that appears and texture is plain on some areas.
If that's the biggest complaint then this game is going to do well.
I hope this game does well... I fell in love with Darksiders and it broke my heart when i heard that THQ went bankrupt. I still remember the first time i played Darksiders 1.. it was awesome XD

Not a single weapons drop seen this footage... That was what hooked me up at Darksiders II... kinda disappointed. I was also expecting a 'perfect evasion' system too since Fury is supposed to be one of the nimble type characters. BTW, no finishing moves?

It seems that she gets a damage buff after a perfect evasion actually. There's a red flare and then her whip turns red
calm down indeed most of us played the games there must be upgrades and stuff, its going to be just fine and badass, least they are continuing it! they could have never been given the green light for the project.

Why does everyone of these games at some point take place in a train station?!
They represent passing area for the Horseman. Think about it. War went into one, Death arrived at Earth in one, it is only fitting that Fury start the game in one. I am sure Strife will see a train station as well.
I hope there will be finishing moves (not only on bosses), Darksiders 2's secondary weapon system and flawless combat. just pointing what's missing from the clip tho

Is this a real question? Because it's gameplay footage likely commissioned by the Devs to show off elements of the game. I agree that the player was pretty bad but the camera question is fairly straight forward.

When you showcase gameplay the developers want you to show little textures and eviroments of the game and not just one element like gameplay hence the panning and walking slow. They want you to take in the atmosphere. If it was showcasing gameplay then they probably wouldn't pan and walk slow and just show combat and little puzzle action if the devs want you to show them.

It’s because the person playing is a total noob... And from the looks of it, it’s an early part of the game. And it’s still in development right now. I expect it to get much more fast paced.
The puzzle stuff brings flashbacks to the clone yourself portal puzzles while running the bombs of the previous entries, hope these clips are from early game and hope they have plenty of puzzles throughout.

For the people complaining about the visuals if you want a Uncharted 3 vs 4 level
off visual upgrade sadly you need a lot of money try to remember this isn't a AAA dev and Sony isn't backing them.
Also there is a lot of improvements over 2, that game had a lot of pop in, there wasn't any reflections in water, and if you do reply it the textures where low res even on Death and other NPC's

TheOne Ay, sprint is not ruining many games such as fps. But in action rpg, I agree that sprint will make the games less *interesting. So rideable pet is the great option when travelling through the bigger environment.
I’m huge fan of Darksiders series, and i can’t wait to play this game! The only thing i wish to see in full version compared to this demo is finishers (they was always a part of the game) and more effects like particles, fog, heat effects from fire and etc.!

Looks like very generic combat I saw nothing special no signature attacks or finishing moves it would have also been cool to have your whip change into a sword and do some combo moves while switching back and fourth . The environments look awesome but the game itself looks like a huge step back in my opinion combat wise. I hope there is a lot more to this game than meets the eyes because as is this could be a series killer and it's got me worried .I'm also hoping this is just a dungeon type area and we have some open world environments .

Let me remind you that War belongs to Chaoseater, a sword, Death belongs to his scythes, Furt belongs to her whip, and Strife belongs to his pistols. Their weapons separate them as do their attitudes. If Fury had a sword, what would War have? Death only had one of Strife's pistols and I am unclear as to why the Makers had it in the first place. Even still with the pistol, Scythes are still the weapon of Death.

I waaaay prefer this compass over a minimap. It suggests where you should go while a minimap straight up tells you. A minimap is just distracting to me as I'll be looking more to that than the actual game when navigating. I love that more and more games are going for a compass over a minimap
