    Mike... Great videos! This one was very helpful on how to make the scales on the back "pop" a bit more with the gentle coat of black. Looked great!
    Do you use any chrome style paints on your lures? I'd love to see how to paint over a highly reflective surface to give it that extra shimmer!

      I've never used any chrome style paints. If you are painting over a holographic bait, I would use very transparent paints.

    My old largemouth bass mailbox had faded albino white so I watched this video with my brother and with a selection of spray paints from Walmart went at it. If you stand back 20 feet, it looks amazing. I wish I could send you a picture of it, but I'm not that smart. (yet)

    Very very good video. Although I have been making spinner baits for years, I am just starting to make wood baits and muskie lures. I just bought a 2 stage air brush. I went to hobby lobby and bought some acrylic hobby craft paint and wicked thinner in lieu of the air brush paint ie createx. Will this paint work?

    look...your painting is great.but its plastic baits.this is easy way.attempt to make a your wooden bait .than you will see how difficult it is.about your painting very nice.

    • @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818
      @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just because its plastic baits doesn't make the painting any easier. I can't produce the number of baits I need by carving wooden baits. I would never be able to get my money's worth from the time spent carving wooden baits.

      regarding cleaning my brush.... I pour the excess paint back into the bottle, then spray any residual paint into the cleaning station (by Iwata) then wipe it out with a paper towel. Now I pour airbrush cleaning solution in the cup and with a Qtip break up any paint sediment on the bottom then spray it all out into the cleaning station.

    Thank you for showing I really appreciate it. About the drying wheel. Do you have to let them sit on the wheel The eight hours oh that's not necessary. Thanks

    • @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818
      @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angel Vega it rotates on the wheel for 8 hours Then you can turn it off and let it sit for the full 24. It can keep rotating longer it's just that 8hrs should be the minimum to prevent pooling of the clear coat

    How much drying does the heat set actually do? Does it just help dry it faster or does it completely dry the lure?

    • @BlizzardHockey4432
      @BlizzardHockey4432 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its not so much for the drying aspect. It does something to pain. Like stops bubbles or something like that. I dont remember

    • @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818

      +nick Spencer +BlizzardHockey4432 It helps it dry faster so I can move on to the next color AND completely cures the paint for a more durable finish

    have you ever considered using Dick Nitre Lurecoat S81/ It is a bit pricey @28.00 a pint. But has a bit longer work time and is much tougher than either the deacon or the envirotex. you do have to use a drying wheel. there is a method to decant that makes this stuff last a real long time.If interested, I can explain more. Example of the toughness, I have a bait that was run over by a truck on a gravel driveway that didn't harm the finish at all.

    • @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818
      @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I take the excess paint left in the airbrush cup and pour it back into the paint bottle. Then I spray out as much of the excess paint as possible into the cleaning station (Iwata makes them ). Then I use a paper towel and wipe out the cup, THEN pour some airbrush cleaner in the cup and spray it threw the brush. Sometimes I put some cleaner in the cup and then stick a Q-Tip down in there to get some of the paint residue out from the bottom of the cup.

    • @ptorlax18
      @ptorlax18 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lure Me In Custom Painted Crankbaits yea i do a very similar process. i even do a little more extensive after certain colors. I still get some paint residue inside the brush after it so i have to take the brush apart and do a really thorough cleaning. also paint drying on the needle tip is very frustrating, any tips to prevent that

    • @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818
      @luremeincustompaintedcrank3818  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe Paratore Someone else mentioned the dry paint on the tip. I haven't had that issue yet but I know its very very common for airbrush users.. Check out the forums at www.tackleunderground.com and ask how to prevent this.
