I love snippets of the family snuck in there. Its great to see the channel starting to involve crafs family!
Man after years of small projects trying to get that big budget look with blender and after effects that one forced perspective bit had me rethinking my approach to story telling. That car and chicken suit had more charm and character than most of the stuff i spend hours on. Scrounging for old toys and making stuff with my hands sounds a lot more appealing than staring at computer more than I already do. Craftman reminds me why I got into filmmaking in the first place.

What l love is that all of these videos you’re doing seem to be leading up to something big. Crafsman, I've always had that nodal point thing in the back of my mind!
I had the concept in my head, I just didn't know what the nodal point was (didn't even know what it was called), but I was always thinking about how to position the camera so that there's no parallax (for digital matte paintings and yes, forced perspective shots).

@@TheCrafsMan I've had that thought for years, sir! Literally years, unsolved in my mind. I think it started with the hypothetical "how do you pan with a forced perspective shot" question. Hehe.
This knowledge is totally gonna help me stitch shots for applying matte paintings on too, I'm definitely gonna go study in this direction.

If you haven't watched this in the last 5 months, it really is something you have to watch again and again to appreciate the subtleties. FRC not knowing what to do with his walkie talkie just got me today, especially now that I know a little more about Adventure Man and all his packs and pockets.
There's something so... calming about being able to smack a Boba Fett figure onto paper... I think it's the wish that toy storage were that easy & compact.
The actors in Rope said it was one of the most grueling pictures they had ever worked on.
The reason? Every time one of them made a mistake the entire 15 minute section of film had to be reshot.
I have wondered how that must feel to an actor, the pressure of having to get the dialog and staging nailed exactly, for fear of having to re-shoot.
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin I’m guessing they had some serious stage acting experience and did a lot of rehearsals.

Episode 103: 3 Fantastic (in-camera) EFFECTS! Old-school film tricks! - Crafsman's first attempt at a full-on, location & actor, skit. Much like Episode 001: How to Weather Wood QUICKLY (Barnwood Effect) + Wire Brush Trick, Episode 103 is brilliant on its own while simultaneously functioning as a perfect example, an indicator if you will, of genius to come. The evolution of Crafsman & this channel continue to be a lovely thang and one we are especially grateful for in our house.

That effect where you slap the figure from three dimensions into two dimensions is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
“Rope” is not the most entertaining of Hitchcock’s films to watch, but it is one of the most interesting in terms of camera angles and effects. Unless you watch very closely, it gives the impression that the whole movie was filmed in one very long shot, in just one interior set.
Open the door! That free range chicken wants to come in ! ;>

Hey Dan! Mannn, we decided to just keep it low-pressure. We've been contacted a few times from bigger outfits and in each situation it felt like things would just go in a direction we don't want to go in. I really like being able to simply come out to the workshop, shoot a video - not worried about hitting a certain runtime, not worried about that it HAS to be financially successful... and just roll with it like we've been doing. Low-pressure. :D But I appreciate the kind words, for real!

You the man. Practical effects can save you a lot of headaches.
Hint for doing the Bobba Fett type stuff (rope cuts) is to make sure you have everything marked off well. Having everything lined up better reduces the number of takes and editing.... Edge marks below you laid the paper down for example. For a person you can get a frisbee with an arrow drawn on it (to show where the person was facing).
LOL, while you were getting ready to upload this video yesterday a friend and I spend a few hours discussing the in camera effects we're going be using on a spec script I brought over.
This is the video I discovered your channel with. And I'm hooked. I came for in-camera techniques and practical effects work, but I stay for your winning sense of humor. Hope you can make more videos about filmmaking/VFX. Thank you CrafsMan!
