Retrograde is one of the greatest songs I've heard in years
almost orgasmic lol
+Darlia Argyris yeah jizz my pants everytime
+Darlia Argyris Completely agree. So taken aback on first listen
Godly! I heard it first on the TV show called SUITS and I've never been okay since.
And it still is for me! I keep coming back to it.
James Blake, another James Blake and a drummer
It's Rob and Ben.
All he's missing is another James Blake.
@@dominicbennettmusic cloning machine broke before he could make a 3rd for drums...
HAHAAHa
Maybe the secret to being a great performer and composer is to wear your headphones backwards!
both of his ears are right tho
Whatever is most comfortable for your (or his) unique ear shape. lol
I still regard Overgrown as the best album of 2013. This masterpiece is just musically complete.
It's not technically music unless there's at least 3 tenor saxophone solos per track... but it's a fine effort at melody driven voice lumps
Not even close, Melophobia is the best of the year.
Arctic Bruce Which is your opinion. Overgrown is mine.
Yep
Simon Jacks Thanks for defining music for us. I never would've known what music was if you hadn't.
This interviewer does her job, I love it. She asks the right questions.
His music heals all my inflicted wounds.
It is very adorable how he massively blushes whenever he speaks.
He sounds the same live as he does on his album O__O damn he's awesome.
***** This man is just so damn talented and his voice is like nutella for your soul.
Christopher Clark Nutella for your Soul ,yes!
Christopher Clark - just read your Nutella cooment - belly laughed. Thanks
threw this on while doing laundry and i was confused when i couldn’t skip to the next song 😅 he’s amazing
wow even when he just talks his voice is magnificent
I think I'm in love with his voice...
Gabriela Martinez us.
Man, its about time till this young man return to kexp with Assume Form songs, and that will be awesome
It's 2016, three years since this masterpiece. Can we please have another album.
+Florent Chardevel I don't think it is, and Blake said there will be a 24 minute song on the album
+Charlotte N Releasing tonight at midnight!
the colour in anything is his best work
every time james blake sings time stops to listen:)
"To the last" is so beautiful ... you can play it at your wedding...and your funeral...After listening to him live i understand why artist with his vocal style and arrangement need a break from touring and performing...Classic music last as long as time does......
James Blake is amazing. Hoping to see him live here in South America
His voice is so unique, I love it!!!!!
my body is covered in goosebumps. wow
every time I listen to James, I experience something new
I’ve elevated to another dimension of hearing James live in this beautiful set… Thank you 💜
It's like he's playing a game with my ears.....and winning.
2013 was when you helped me through a difficult time; loved you and your words, and love you now. Keep giving us your heart, that we find find words hard to look for. And drums and strum work beyond my ken; thank you.
This guy is kinda phenomenal in my opinion...
He's so charming! Any lady would be lucky to have him!
07:33 - 08:23 is my favorite part of 'To the Last.'
And the Wilhelm Scream in this one is magical.
Love it ...always great live shows on KEXP.
James, you are the owner of my soul.
I discovered his work from William Forsythe's Blake Works. I appreciate the naked cutting simplicity of his sound. Bravo
this was the first perfomance i have seen of James Blake back in 2013 and last week I got the chance to watch him live, can't explain how much it means to me
I take some pride having found Overgrown early in life. Helped me go through a lot of unspoken nights. Cheers James.
I honestly didn't notice. I was concentrating so hard on his exceptional music that brought me to tears, and that beautiful softly spoken babble when he was answering questions. But to answer the anomaly: In art, a paintbrush looks like a paintbrush, it is the artist who adds his soul to create a painting. In music, headphones look like headphones, the artist hears the sound and converts it into a song. Therefore, James Blake is an amazing artist!
I love this performance! Great Retrograde song... human and powerfulll!
He has a soul that is so pure and it reflects in his music
Still one of my favorite live performances
he seriously needs to get a live album out already. please. now.
Props to the sound engineers this is so crisp.
Front to back, best performance I've ever heard.
22:21 when Rob was all confused, and Ben and James only smiled
+Diana Mariska blake messed up the looping so the beat that airhead comes in on was off by a bit so he was like really?? hhahah
Breathtaking music.
KEXP is so great! Always interesting artists. thanks!
Yes this Man is a musical genius
the last song is beutifull !! this guy is a genius !
GROOVING IN THE LIBRARY - THIS SHIT IS PERFF. A JAMES BLAKE CONCERT IN MY MIND .
The perfect way to spend my day and my night. Over and over.
she is the most charismatic interviewer, and always so calm. i love her...
can't say enough thanks to james blake for his first album...i listened to it everyday for months on end...such a good soul :) x
I really enjoy his voice 😍
Real beautiful Art.
I think I'm going to watch this session everyday for the rest of my life... LOVE IT
The way both the host and Blake are speaking to each other... sounds.... sexual.
Omg yahhs!!
funny :)
I could totally see her inviting him to her two-story walk up for some tea and organic biscuits. And him accepting.
They're really intimate with the microphones they're using, at least.
there is such an atmosphere as if now everyone will fuck and make music at the same time
To The Last...holy cow that's beautiful
Love this. Retrograde was spectacular.
Cheryl Walters does a great job on giving James, Rob and Ben the best to do their best. I'm "constant" in going back to this youtube - sound better than my ipod - and I don't think I'm the age group aimed at but I love James Blakes' music and it will last.
discovering this interesting artist.. taking you in his moods and sounds..
Wilhelm Scream sounded great!
You heard it here, folks. This artist has shattered Stalin's cold exterior. He's bringing together the worst of enemies with SOUL. And both bridging time and reaching into the afterlife. Not bad.
Weird place to express this but I have so much love and respect for Cheryl Waters.
22:20 When you and your musicians notice the loop mistake and you and they know they can't do anything to fix it cause is a live loop, So the only thing u can do is to have fun and smile and enjoy with your friends.
A genius in action. I feel blessed to have discovered his music.
Why the heck is there so much good music...this kills me I love it so much!
its all positive suspense...James Blake is healing. He should come to South Africa, Johanessburg.
brilliant...
I am very fascinated with the live percussion. Cool performance!
Big music, big love....
There’s nothing like Janes Blake ❤ ever!!!
What a voice!
Oh my. What an incredible artist. I rode past right before the in-studio and saw him outside... really wanted to meet him in person.
wow......saw him first time after radiohead finished their set on the park stage, i thought how do you follow that...then JB came on!
Shes like the most lovely person lol
Slight mistake when he sampled himself in Retrograde, amazing how the rest of the band just played on and went with it - those guys must really know their stuff
I don't think he sampled himself by mistake.
The advantage of the glitch aesthetic
so talented... beautiful music.... thanks
James' performance is a masterpiece !
Creo que lo amo
I never want to cover James's tracks, because I can never be as good as him or even close. ❤❤
he is so fucking good.... my 2nd favorite artist of all time
who's your first?
ceeoreo yeezus
AMAZING PERFORMANCE, LOVE IT!!!!
lol he looped his vocals wrong on Retrograde..and they keep crackin up :) so cute

James is EPIC. I love him.
this guy is a genius! Pure musical bliss!
overgrown is so resonant in this session
Loved every moment!
he is genius. beautiful cant describe it
So much gracias!
My god his voice , I'm in love !
I listen to this after my girlfriend broke up with me. I cried all my reality out. I wanted to go to the last, but everything was so over grown and there was such a limit to her love that now our love just comes back in the night.
I know that feeling
Oh I see what you did there :)
To The Last is so beautiful
another reason why i love KEXP
those guitar fret close-ups: gorgeous stuff!
I adore him so much
So beautiful ❤️
Loved it at the end he looked like he gave hi life away..
No off them can do that..
Lovw u for that..
I wish u so much healing and oneness..:))
Gretting from croatia..
Its crap here))
:))
that piano patch for overgrown is sooo lush.....
It's funny she says "I'll never get tired of that song", and the title is "The Wilhelm Scream", something that's repeated a lot
is there anything even better than james blake live. maybe nicolas jaar, but even now, still 💕
Omg I love his voice. Singing and talking. OMG oh lawd
Thanks Heather. Guy is crazy good
Oh my goooosh!! I looooove him!!
this dude fucking kills me. so much talent. sónar was incredible.
Everytime it starts to get too dissonant or weird for me, and I walk over to change the song.....he changes it up and, I say.."well, let's see where this goes..." I usually end up liking where it takes me.
wow thats LITERALLY how i view his music...it goes to the edge then gets so interesting i have to keep it on..then it becomes hypnotic on subsequent listens
Beewirks Beewirks I agree! His music is always right on the edge of falling apart... but it never does.
Most definitely!
Yes, such a great album. I like it way more than his first full length.
