Yes the bays are full of crab right now. We probably had 20+ in each pot in a bay in Tillamook County last weekend. A lot of females and the males were still fairly soft. Hoping for fuller crab next month and in October.
interesting but no reason to make it close to an hour long. Time lapsing to 15 minutes would have made it more viewable. I found myself fast forwarding to see the developments in the pot. A question is the net hole size mandated? It seems that the crabs have a hard time getting in and a smaller hole size would get them in quicker. The blue crab (east coast) can swim and would have no problem getting up and over. The dungees are crawlers only and while they ultimately get in have a hard time with it. Can the net hole size be reduced to facilitate their entry. Also, why didn't we get to see what you did catch?
Hey PK, My son and I live in Nevada, and are coming up to the Oregon Coast the first week of September. I'd really like to take him out Kayak fishing out of either Depoe Bay, or Pacific City.....I've been before but he hasn't....I'd really like to go with some expereinced kayakers just to be safe.....Would you be willing to join us for a trip?
I wonder if you could have a Bluetooth device/camera that you could use underwater and have an iPad or something in the boat, so you could watch the crab enter the pot. IDK if that would be cheating some, but it would be a fun idea.
Cool, but I was disappointed that you didn’t show what you pulled up.
The gopro ran out of battery before I pulled it. Waited too long. But a full video of this trip is coming.

Another amazing video. Thanks PK.
Thanks for the show !
dang PK that looked pretty full at about 20 minutes-how many keepers? love your underwater videos
I like the underwater sound! too bad you cannot monitor the trap live... Always a good show PK!
Where’s the corn and sausage in that cookout 😁
So, for those Hoops, what have you found to be the optimal soak time? Thanks.
During the slow season, I'd say about 40 minutes to 1 hour. During September through November, I'd say no more than 20 minutes.
@@oregonlife Thank you, Cheers

Mesh sized aren't regulated in Oregon. The battery ran out before I pulled it. But a full video is coming of this trip.
So when did you pull it? We never saw what you got.
Battery ran out before the pull unfortunately. I got the full video coming soon.

If my schedules allow and the swells are low enough, sure. I will post on my channel if I'm making a Depoe trip.
@@oregonlife Awesome! I'll be on the lookout! Thanks so much for the reply, hopefully we can get on the water together!
What's in the bait bag?
Fish heads, chicken.

I've been meaning to do that. But I think using a drone type device for fishing might be illegal in Oregon.
@@oregonlife I can't imagine them having that rule yet, as outlandish as it sounds! Lol. We're talking the Jetsons these days! Lol
