Beautiful ceremony, now if I could just get my boyfriend's mother to understand what a commitment ceremony is, I look at as he and I are marrying each other, not the government, but she can't get that through her thick skull, she thinks it won't be "real" without a marriage license, how did you guys explain it to your families?
Jessica Olive I am going through the same shit with some of my family members. lol you just gotta lay down the law..and eventually reality will hit, and they'll accept it. My girlfriend and I are having a commitment ceremony because we cannot legally get married. Do you have any suggestions?
James Valenti go for it, make it as formal or as simple as you want it. I suggest www.offbeatbride.com that's where I get all my inspiration from, also check out www.handfastings.org, they perform all kinds of ceremonies, legally and non legally binding, and have the officiants catagorized by state
Jessica Olive My fiancee and I will be having a commitment ceremony for that exact same reason. I don't care if anyone understands it. Finding an actual church in my area to do it is going to be difficult. Do you have any tips? I'm on the east coast, not in a major city or state.
