  • The weather has cleared up a bit and we were finally able to take our R3 Superbike to the track for another test. All the adjustments we made last week definitely helped a lot because the bike performed phenomenally. However, there are still a few things we would like to change, test, and compare so stay tuned!

    You're killing it in those corners. Great build!

    Man you’re riding the piss out of that thing! Clearly better in the corners than the other riders, you carry so much more speed coming in and throughout the turn. Very cool

    • @SteezeN
      @SteezeN 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Jason Smith maybe I’m just a noob but your better off carrying less speed in a 1000 into a corner & stand the bike up as soon as possible to sling shot out the corner. Where in smaller bikes it’s better to carry higher speed into the corner since they can’t just shot out like a 1000 can. I ride both a 600 & a 1000 & I’m sure both can carry the same corner speed but it’s better to come in slow on the 1000 & stand the bike up as quickly as I can

      @dWoogie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ZX10R Ant: It sounds you are right but still this guy on 300 is faster then guy on 1000. Only cant take him.

      ZX10R Ant maybe but this dude is another level rider than the other guys on the track with him that day. Put em all on the same bike and he’ll lap em eventually

    • @SteezeN
      @SteezeN 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jason Smith you think so the zx10r dude look decent. I would imagine it’s easier to push the smaller bikes to the limit & are more confident inspiring . Not saying he’s not better rider but the guy on the liter bike wasn’t slow . I wouldn’t be surprised if the pilot of the r3 gets better lap times on his r3 than he does when rides a super bike or a 600cc on certain tracks.

      Agreed ! I had the 1998 R1 and absolutely loved it.....that was over 10 years ago.....hot the itch again....went to dealership for perhaps an R6......took a peek at the R3 and quickly went on TH-cam & Google to see it.....was impressed and ended up with a 2020 R3 !!! I am very happy.....my budget was 10,000 dollars.....now I have 5K left for the cheapest 2020 Yamaha WaveRunner that cost 7,500 so I am almost there.....to think that I was gonna get R6 for 12,000 dollars hahahha !!!! All in all....not the fastest R3.....but its alot of Fun.....I think I will add that 1,000 dollar package in 2 years when yhe bike becomes boring!

      You don’t want corner speed on a liter bike you wants to turn as fast as possible so you can put the power down unlike 600cc and lower you want to hold on to more speed into and out of a curve and carry the curve longer. Yea with a liter bike you just want to point and shoot as fast as possible so your not waist I g time in corners.

    The best tip I got racing smaller bikes (350 2 stroke) was tune, tune and tune again.
    Simple fact is most don't bother much and if you work on tuning for every track and weather it really pays off, gives you that edge out of corners that keeps you in front on tight tracks.

    Nice!! What effect does the 2.75 front rim have on tires made for 3.00? All tires I see are for recomended 3.00. Really looking hard at buying an R3 especially seeing you developing it and knowing that serious suspension can be had. RC 390 has 3.00 front rim. Pinching tires has given poor results for me in the past

    I have a Duke 390 I know the struggle. Everyone on a 600 or bigger blows by me on the straits and I have to work my ass off to pass them in the corners. But they can’t out brake a 300 lb bike.

    That light weight little bike can blast through a corner! What an awesome machine.
    Speaking of tires, and my not coming from a motorcycle racing background, do your tires last longer on an R3 vs. a heavier bike such as an ZX-10?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahahaha...yessss. On my supersport spec R1, at the same track in the video, the rear tire starts going away after 4-5 sessions. The R3 will run that track on one rear tire for a day and a half if you flip it. Last year we used Michelin tires that were slightly larger and the rear lasted 2.5 days at that track.

    Hey TST, parts for the 2017 1000rr have been “coming soon” for about a year now on your website. Any word on estimated date of releases ?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had a very hard time securing a local 2017+ CBR1000RR to verify any of our initial designs but luckily we got one in a few weeks ago. We have continued the design/prototyping process for some products and hopefully we can introduce them to the market later this year or early next year. Stay tuned!

    I just started doing track day with my Tuono V4. And i've been passed by a R3 many times.
    Nothing wrong with that, that guy on the R3 has done much more track days, i think he's even doing competition racing.
    So don't be ashamed about being passed by smaller bikes.

    Just like the old days having a RS 250cc two stroke on an open track day with a superbike in tow. That is some exciting riding there my friend, you have opened my eyes to what the new 300cc class can do. I would like to point out that an orange t-shirt or meatball shirt, designates a first time track day rider or a newbie. Easily spotted by aggressive left hand corners and loads of hesitation in right hand ones.

      @TSTindustries  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the shirt over the suit designates a rider coach in the organizations we have in Florida. The sessions I was riding in were Advanced. This organization separates riders into Novice, Intermediate, Advanced categories.

    Did you do anything for cooling? You guys race in the tropics on your R3 superbikes yeah? Chasing some info on how you keep it cool. I heard 150% of recommended penrite 10 ten would help?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had heat issues along the way that is for sure. Switching back and forth between cooling agents didn't work, ultimately water with additive to raise the boiling point along with keeping higher coolant pressure won out. But still we had heat problems and had to make compromises. Finally we got onboard with the Febir extended radiator and then we started managing the heat well. I tried to devise an oil cooling system before that because keeping the oil cool helps extend it's life and also we take a two vector approach to cooling parts, which would be better . The packaging and plumbing of such a system and maintaining proper oil pressure in critical areas proved to be very difficult.

    That was so fun to watch. That thing has some serious cornering grip and you can definitely ride!! I'm local to South Florida but don't recognize that track? Would love to book a track day there. Definitely different from WPB and HMS. Anyways keep up the great work!! And side note - waiting on those fz09 turn signals lol :)

      That track is in Jennings. Exit 267 on the 75, just before the Georgia border. It is a fun track, but be ready to tear up some tires. The pavement is pretty rough. Hope to see you at one of these tracks one day. Come say hello when you see us.
