The song should be played to every aspiring songwriter as the high water mark to aim for and maybe ,just maybe they would see that a huge percentage of the song they write are falling way ,way short.
I saw Springsteen on the "Time/Newsweek" tour in 1975. I didn't even know that much about who I was going to see. I was at Georgetown University. He had been scheduled to play Cole Field House at the University of Maryland, but they couldn't get the stage in so he switched to three nights at Georgetown's much smaller McDonough Gymnasium. I guess I knew "Born To Run" but that was about it. Of course, getting tickets wasn't much of a problem for a Georgetown student with an activities subscription. They announced "Please no flash photography during the opening number." And then a lone figure came out and after a harmonica introduction began to sing: The screen door slams Mary's dress waves Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays Then I KNEW that I was seeing something VERY special.
My brother and sister bought us all tickets to this concert for my birthday. It was a beautiful time and experience. Some of the songs brought tears to my eyes. So many memories. Thank you my brother thank you my sister. Thank you Bruce and the E street band.
i have 4 children, bbbg ranging from 25 to 18. always told them i would take them so we could experience it together. saw in kc on 2/18. glorious night...
Did warn up for Tom Petty. Petty was listening backstage and could hear the crowd chanting Broooce. Some one saw him looking worried and told him the crowd were shouting Broooooce and were not booing. Petty told him THAT'S WHAT IM WORRIED ABOUT.

Just love this man. Good guy. Good Son. Good Father. Now he's a grandfather. I'll have to refrain from watching the video of him bringing his Mom on stage to dance, though it's one of favorites. I just lost my Mum last week. She was a great Mom ! Raised 5 children alone. I'll miss her dearly. Rock on Bruce ! 🤟 ✊
What I love about this is that Springsteen is basically karaoking his own legendary track....singing along to it with the crowd as if he was in the crowd himself .....the guys an absolute treasure & an inspiration to musicians across the decades.....deserved all the fame he attained
Took my 27 year old daughter to this show, for her first time, great show great crowd. In all these years of seeing him he just keeps getting better and better. The tightest band ever Jake sounded awesome.
My first concert was in 1985 at age 14. It was Bruce Springsteen and I was in awe of his talent! I saw him again in 2000 and he was even better! I cried the first time I heard him when I was 10 and I heard “The River”. I’ve been a diehard fan since!
I’ve seen him 11 times and he’s always amazing. Yes, he doesn’t jump around like he used to so his concerts now have a little less energy than before but he’s still the greatest. Long live The Boss!!
My last time seeing him was the River Tour, in Chicago. Went by myself. Other than a gal not liking people singing along, it was great. Love the E-Street Band !🤟✨
Can still remember the Born to Run Album debut the Summer of "75" I just rotated from the Rock "USMC ride to ya die" went back home to see old friends, and hit some senior year graduation parties! Third phase hair cut and all! And someone dropped the Born to Run Album on a turntable and cranked up the Pioneer Amp, I heard Thunder Road cut! It made me think of all the desperate emotions you feel as a teenager! And that sax solo, It choked me up! Bought the 8 track the next day! Still is my #1! Tunnel of Love #1A, love me some Bruce!
I saw him the first time he came to Greensboro, probably of the greatest memories I have. 5 hours + of the Boss playing! What a night and memory for me.....
There's nothing else like a seeing the Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band ! I'd love to go to see him in Chicago, but living on Social Security, I can't afford a ticket. I don't hardly ever even eat out. I'm just a few years younger than him, living check to check. I really wish I could see him one last time before I go. I'm planning on going to Wrigley, and listening from the outside of the ballpark. Go and see him if you can. Love how he engages his audience. Especially when he has an audience member come up on stage. It's magic ✨
Saw him at the Tacoma Dome in the early 80's. Definitely more energy then but he was muuuuccch younger. He still kicks butt. In my opinion his best song.
I was able to get an affordable ticket and will see Springsteen in early Sep in NJ. Really looking forward to what is going to be my third Springsteen show!
Saw Bruce on The River tour in the early 1980s. Didn't have a clue who he was, just got a spare ticket from a work colleague. That night changed my life. Thunder Road means so much to me.

Very much wonderfully the same in Detroit last week. I keep thinking he must be following me around since so many of his songs seemed to be based on my life experiences. "No angel is going to greet me", "The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive", "We're giving each other some hard lessons lately, but we ain't learning", "May I feel your blood mix with mine", etc. Originally saw him in 1976 at Michigan State University.

The man wrote this when he was I his early 20’s. Genius. I first heard it in1978 and can’t remember a day when I haven’t listened to it. Saw him live a few times on this tour so far and each time I hear the harmonica intro it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you Bruce
It was a great night! I’ve been to 3 concerts in this tour and he’s included Thunder Road each time. One last concert for me in September. So looking forward to it!

I've seen Bruce a couple of times starting way back during the Born in the USA tour when I was a teenager. He never disappoints. I'd love to see him live just one more time.
@RickGoodman I wish I could afford it. I'm recovering from breast cancer, which literally took every cent of my life's savings. I can see why Walter White made meth.
@@sharongreathouse8575 I hope you beat cancer & you get to see Bruce. I got to see him once, 9 years ago, at the age of 50, & said then that I could die a happy woman, & I meant it. I saw him in Atlanta in February and then in Greensboro. I liked the Atlanta show better only because our seats were better than Greensboro. Other than that, I rocked out both nights. Would loved to have heard Trapped or If I Were a Priest but they were not played. I thought the only show I would go to this year would be Atlanta but after that show, I wanted to see him again so I will probably get tickets when he’s back from his European tour. His music has been the soundtrack of my life since the first time I saw him in 1981. He is the Boss and I love the E Street Band🎶❤️
Bruce has played Thunder Road and Born To Run jn every single concert encore on this tour. Anyone who was surprised simply hasn’t been paying attention to the set list published for each show.

That woman in blue is having the time of her life. Boy, talk about having an audience in the palm of your hand. Thanks to everyone posting these videos.
Thunder Road for me is one of Bruce's "key" songs that I like most, besides Born to Run and Jungleland. I saw him him performing Thunder Road in Amsterdam May 27th 2023. It was again so powerful and emotional, thanks Bruce !
Dammit my eyes are a waterfall when I hear this song of my college days
Amazing that a song written nearly fifty years ago can still hold so much power and emotion. A testament to his talent as a songwriter and performer.
The song should be played to every aspiring songwriter as the high water mark to aim for and maybe ,just maybe they would see that a huge percentage of the song they write are falling way ,way short.

Ive seen the Boss 27 times since 1978, even saw him as a warm up act!!! No one is like him live, no one
Share who he warmed up for. Hate to follow him lol
He hasn't been a warm up act for anyone from 1978 to now.
Who'd he open for? Awesome!
I agree completely! Where did you see him as a warm-up act? I saw him in '73 at the infamous Chicago concert at the Spectrum in Philly.

His music has been the soundtrack of my life since
the first time I saw him in 1981. He is the Boss and I love the E Street Band🎶❤️
That sounds great!
An amazing night. Didn't realize Thunder Road wasn't on the setlist. So thrilled it was added!
Great Night!
And I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm a die-hard Boss fan, saw him in Seattle on this tour and he played Trapped! Which was rad!!
Bruce has played Thunder Road and Born To Run jn every single concert encore on this tour. Anyone who was surprised simply hasn’t been paying attention to the set list published for each show.
💕💕 Thanks for your love and support towards me I really appreciate you and can’t thank you enough. Write me with the address above to be among the lucky few who stand a chance for a meet and greet when I am in your city or city nearby
Not true. Thunder Road was not a regular set list song at that point in the tour.
That woman in blue is having the time of her life. Boy, talk about having an audience in the palm of your hand. Thanks to everyone posting these videos.
yes she was!
Nice
Thanks, Dr Rick, for posting. I wasn’t there, but it resonates just as it did the first time I dropped the needle on this album nearly 50 years ago!
You're very welcome
Thunder Road for me is one of Bruce's "key" songs that I like most, besides Born to Run and Jungleland. I saw him him performing Thunder Road in Amsterdam May 27th 2023. It was again so powerful and emotional, thanks Bruce !
agreed
Backstreets. Completes the four
what it must feel like to have hundreds who have carried it in their hearts for half a century deliver it back to you.
