Amazing that a song written nearly fifty years ago can still hold so much power and emotion. A testament to his talent as a songwriter and performer.

The song should be played to every aspiring songwriter as the high water mark to aim for and maybe ,just maybe they would see that a huge percentage of the song they write are falling way ,way short.

I saw Springsteen on the "Time/Newsweek" tour in 1975. I didn't even know that much about who I was going to see. I was at Georgetown University. He had been scheduled to play Cole Field House at the University of Maryland, but they couldn't get the stage in so he switched to three nights at Georgetown's much smaller McDonough Gymnasium. I guess I knew "Born To Run" but that was about it. Of course, getting tickets wasn't much of a problem for a Georgetown student with an activities subscription.
They announced "Please no flash photography during the opening number." And then a lone figure came out and after a harmonica introduction began to sing:
      The screen door slams
      Mary's dress waves
Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays
Then I KNEW that I was seeing something VERY special.

Did warn up for Tom Petty. Petty was listening backstage and could hear the crowd chanting Broooce. Some one saw him looking worried and told him the crowd were shouting Broooooce and were not booing. Petty told him THAT'S WHAT IM WORRIED ABOUT.

What I love about this is that Springsteen is basically karaoking his own legendary track....singing along to it with the crowd as if he was in the crowd himself .....the guys an absolute treasure & an inspiration to musicians across the decades.....deserved all the fame he attained

Can still remember the Born to Run Album debut the Summer of "75" I just rotated from the Rock "USMC ride to ya die" went back home to see old friends, and hit some senior year graduation parties! Third phase hair cut and all! And someone dropped the Born to Run Album on a turntable and cranked up the Pioneer Amp, I heard Thunder Road cut! It made me think of all the desperate emotions you feel as a teenager! And that sax solo, It choked me up! Bought the 8 track the next day! Still is my #1! Tunnel of Love #1A, love me some Bruce!

I was 18 years old when his Born to Run album came out. I was a little confused about the crazy world back then and didn't really know where I fit in. I would listen to the lyrics of his album over and over again until I finally understood. You don't have to figure out the world, just figure out who you are inside and the rest will take care of itself.

There's nothing else like a seeing the Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band ! I'd love to go to see him in Chicago, but living on Social Security, I can't afford a ticket. I don't hardly ever even eat out. I'm just a few years younger than him, living check to check. I really wish I could see him one last time before I go. I'm planning on going to Wrigley, and listening from the outside of the ballpark. Go and see him if you can. Love how he engages his audience. Especially when he has an audience member come up on stage. It's magic ✨

Would loved to have heard Trapped or If I Were a Priest but they were not played. I thought the only show I would go to this year would be Atlanta but after that show, I wanted to see him again so I will probably get tickets when he’s back from his European tour.
