    I really enjoyed this episode, MUSIQ is such a great person and his life experiences still make him a humble soul. I've been on Victims & Villians album since the interview. South African approves

    Awsome interview Math and team with one of the greatest: Musiq SoulChild....Through this sit down, learned alot about him as a person and his journey in life and music.His songs touched your heart and soul and u could visualize the storytelling...As u touched upon the labeling of a genre of music..That aspect was implemented by others, not by the"Artist".Creativity and expression is the most beautiful thing when it's left to manifest ltself..Soulchild on many occasions exuded that gracefully..This version of a society will give some challenges emotionally ,and "Musiq" has been the navigation for this good brother to channel through it and grasp and get an understanding..Soulchild continue to make incredible songs that bring joy ,u truly are a gift and the best at what u do.... One....

    I would say the best comparison for autotune for rapping would be the punch in. Used to be only when needed, now its used to make whole songs to give a flow that the person really cant manage on their own. instead of how it used to be. Just thinking aloud.

    I know of Musiq's survival mode all too well. Floatin from pillar to post......scrapin up enough bread for a 'once a day' grub. Tryna figure out how far ur dollar can stretch....... unstable n dangerous environmental elements to navigate thru......stress n anxiety.......all dat. One thang I do know is trouble dnt always last. Keep ur faith in God n He will see u thru

    The Life of being a father. You learn every day to find a balance on raising your kids and teaching them the right way. I personally make my kids do pushups and jumping jacks for punishment from a discipline perspective it works better for me. Every now and then i might pop the butt if i had to keep repeating but i try to avoid beating my kids. I don't want them to live the same experiences i lived growing up in the 80s. Plus in today's society the way we got whipped would be abuse today.

    Ps it seems like Neo soul was the final last attempt for( them )to remove the soul from music I mean, there’s still some soul music out there, but it’s just not promoted commercially like before

    @BlackGirlInADoggoneWorld 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I respect how Math insists on people not speaking in hypotheticals and giving concrete answers. No matter how much pacing he and his team did, Musiq just kept on pulling out that violin to harp on how wronged he was. Even if you ask him what exactly happened or to pick a concrete example of being wronged, his response kept being, "There are so many. Which one? There's not enough time." He did this on "R&B Money" too. And if you try to speed him past these random details (do I really need to know if records were sold in a music store he was in?), he'll act like you're rushing him and go right back to that SAME story. Why do we need to know that he stayed on the next block from his last block? Let's talk about the music! It gives me a headache. He is determined to downplay the talent or to skip over any high moment to make it all sad. At least balance it out. The conversation about parenthood was delightful though. I loved the beginning. It was less violin-ish and more specific examples. I ❤ his music and him as an artist, but the interviews wear me out.

      2:22:34 OK, he is doing this on purpose. Makes more sense now. I think if he spoke to someone equipped to offer solutions instead of unsolicited unloading though.

    • @BlackGirlInADoggoneWorld
      @BlackGirlInADoggoneWorld 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2:26:07 Math is on point again. It really was nonstop complaining even through the compliments. On R&B Money, same thing.

    Math was right though. It was a certain type of color palette to that even in the videos. Alot of warm fender rhodes sounds and organic browns, greens, oranges, and yellows. Natural hair lol. It’s alright to say that it was a whole vibe back then.

    None of the artists mentioned in the neo soul conversation NEVER EVER called themselves NEO SOUL. The media called them that and they moved accordingly. They took advantage and struck while the iron was hot because they didn't know how long the window would be open. The industry is so fickle and always on to the next new thing. Now these artists let that name slide but NONE of them let that moniker stop them from growing artistically. With that said, you wanna know why there is no collective of so called NEO SOUL artists? Ask Questlove and what he attempted to do with Soulquarian why that could not come to a fully realized tree of fruition, although we got some great albums with the attempt. Lastly i think Erykah needs to be a guest in the barber chair and Questlove also. All of this said in my humble opinion.
