It's not the water that has beneficial bacteria. It's the scape and filters. Could've gave fresh water, using prime of course
by any chance did you have trouble getting the canister to work? i heard that canister filters are mainly for aquariums where its below the tank so gravity can help the siphon. but with the filter side by side with the stock tank, was there any trouble?
Turt Du While I do really love my canister filter, it does take some extra work to get it up and running since it’s not exactly below the tank. I had a lot of issues when I first set it up in his original pond liner setup. However, I found that if you keep your intake hose under the water while you pump water into the canister, it helps to get all of the air out. Since the water level comes up higher in this tank, gravity is helping out more than it had been before. When I clean his filter, to get it running again, I just make sure both hoses are completely submerged and press down on the pump on the top a lot, and it starts flowing again. Once the filter starts flowing it doesn’t have any problems.
What I did I set up my 40 gallon stock tank is I cook my filter up to his old tank that was for 2 gallons and just filtered all the water out it pumped it automatically didn't have to worry about a thing I didn't even have to use a siphon
I think I cut it out of this video, but about halfway through I realized that I could do that instead 😂 The siphon wasn’t too bad to work with thankfully.

Have you had any problems with rust? some users report these steel stock tanks rusting after a while.

Cool setup. Fyi I'm pretty sure that your turtle is actually a female based on how short the front claws are/short tail and wide head. Males have much longer middle claws in front. I have a female red eared slider, have had her for 14 years, got her as a hatchling from a friend who's turtles laid eggs. Was hoping she'd be a boy and named her Timmy, since they don't get as big. She is currently 8-9" and is also in a 100 gal stock tank.
Thank you for letting me know! I’ve had my doubts about my turtle being a boy, but since I’m not as experienced with sexing turtles I just stuck with what her previous owner told me. I’m glad to have some confirmation!

Nooo, that wasn’t my intention 😂😭 I posted this video when the protests were majorly happening and it didn’t sit well with me to not address it in any way. I debated about making a whole video for BLM, but I settled on doing this instead. I really hope it didn’t come off as disingenuous. I see how it could appear that way though, now that you mention it 😬

@@jmthayoungin Thanks! I used fencing that’s meant for gardens. I got this plastic black fencing from Lowe’s. If you type in “black garden fencing” on their website, it should pop up.
