that lower range with the contrabass is just beautifully unique. The smoother tone accompanied with the wider range vibrato and slight swell is what a lot of movie soundtracks are missing!

Contrabass flute is my dream instrument! I only play euphonium violin and trombone right now, but I hope one day I’ll be able to rent or even buy one! Great video!
Actually, there’s also the subcontrabass and I think a double contrabass. Plus Jelle Hogenhuis built a very very low flute the size of a small car. I was so lucky to meet him ~ 2018 ~ in Amsterdam. You see, he sold me a “Diadeem” Cobtrabass in 2016; my husband and I were traveling there, so I emailed him to see if we might meet? Fabulous couple of hours with him. He’d told me that the really enormous low flute was not audible in its low range; what it effected, though, was to vibrate the walls, becoming the lowest vibrations (the fundamentals) of notes being played by other flutists in the room. Brilliant man. He passed a few years ago😢. Does anyone know if his extant instruments are being sold by a particular vendor? He let me try a wonderful bass flute of his design…. @@poppyphilips It's the instrument's fault. Some of them are quite pointless, like hyperbass flutes, octocontrabass clarinets, Soprillo saxes, Double sized double basses, BBBb tubas, etc.

A flute counts as any woodwind that doesnt use a reed, and blows into the instrument in a particular way. For example, if you've ever blown into plastic or glass bottles, thats a flute.
Be sure to check out compositions by Jelle Hogenhuis. I may have a couple from music he gave me when we met. [Because of course, what do 2 flutists do when they get together? They play duets. He gave me a couple of flute ensemble pieces, too.]
They probably shouldn't have given the highest instrument a low counterpart, compare this to a Subcontrabass saxophone which I believe is an octave below the piano.
The contrabass looks like I could trust it as my weapon if choice in WW3
Lol 😂
Honestly, flutes do good in chokeholds
Contrabass may be a good weapon but a picollo/soprano flute is dangerous. We are the master of the squeal and the lightsabers through years of intense bandroom boredom.
Comparing wind instruments to weapons is neither new nor amusing. Compare also Bassoon/Musket...

Oh my gosh! The amount of air it takes to instantly switch from the piccolo to the contrabass and then have vibrato with it. Immaculate

I wouldn't have believed that the lowest note on the piccolo could be played on the contrabass
It still can't do it
Cuz it wasnt. She went lower for the top note and it didnt have the greatest tone

on a Nagahara Mini you can play a B4

Oh hey there, Amelie! I'd love to see you play the contrabass flute haha

hi! i love ur channel u helped so much with flute
I’ve always found the piano a terribly cold sound, and next to those beautiful flute timbres it sounds positively unpleasant. Thank you for the lovely sounds. :)
The last note on the contrabass sounds like a reed instrument, like a bari sax
Not really, it does sound like a reed instrument but filtered (like its in another room) and playing way lower than intended
The sound of the contrabass is amazing❤
Wow! Great breath control on those low pitches of the contrabass!
Your tone on that is impeccable. Other contrabass flutes ive heard sound like beat boxers
Contrabass flute is now my new favorite instrument
I mean it’s really hard to hear + when ur playing, the keys are louder than the notes

The contrabass flute reminds me of a mother elephant. So gentle, yet large
I knew about harmonics but still was shocked that there is any range overlap between the CB and piccolo
the vibrato is immaculate
