  • In today's episode of the Missing Link News Show, we consider the humorous news that a court in Florida has given the approval for a libel case against CNN to go forward as sufficient evidence of "actual malice" has been found., CNN will be sued for 1 billion dollars in damages for lying about America's botched withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. CNN's hubris though is just one more example of the same error that Zuckerberg and Biden have also made: believing that controlling what text appears on an electronic screen is the same as having a godlike power to control the universe.

@@chadahaagphilosophychannel7329 Every day the technological tyranny becomes more and more dystopian... I want to thank you for all the work you are doing here. I enjoy all your videos but the ones about Tk and Ellul are my favourites. Have you thought about doing videos about ancient greek cynism like Antisthenes and Diogenes of Sinope?

@randy-eb5kr Thank you for supporting the channel; I am sorry that free speech is being suppressed more and more as time goes on but I am hopeful about doing more things on Rumble. Thanks also for the recommendation; I admit I haven't read these two thinkers before but I'd be very interested to look them up, perhaps in Greek in addition to English.

Chad you mentioned in some earlier videos that when you lived in Colorado you attended some religious gatherings and i think i recall you said that you knew a pastor who was crowdfunding to obtain a fixed location for gatherings. What's was it about that type of social religious and oration that you found interesting as a social arrangement or rhetorical form ? You're obviously not cast yourself in that form but iam curious about what place that has in that culture and people like yourself that were raised in it and alongside it but are not necessarily alienated by it nor wholly subscribed to it.

Thanks for this question. Yes, that is right, I mentioned all the way back in probably 2018 on one livestream when I was still in America that my ideal philosophy school would not be anything like a modern American university with its outrageously high fees and all the meddling from a bloated and dysfunctional administrative superstructure. Instead, the ideal school would be a group of people who meet by choice once a week or so, discuss a text everyone had agreed to read, and then pass around a hat to collect a few dollars to keep the meeting going for the next week. I compared this to some very small churches I remember seeing back in my youth, such as one Pentecostal Church in my village that was so short on funds that the pastor literally held "church" in a public park in the town and strummed an acoustic guitar and sang with no PA system etc. That guy was of course working a day job as a social worker so he didn't really make his living as a "pastor" but it showed me that you dont' have to be employed as a professional X to still get the chance to do something with it if you're passionate about it. Without any doubt, if I was still in America, I would be working some other job with no relation to philiosophy but I'd still get to "do philosophy" if only on TH-cam because you don't have to ask the big instituutions for permission to do this sort of thing. In fact, going through the academic industry will at this point just defeat the purpose since even the philosphy departments there, it seems that not much philosophy gets done these days.

@@chadahaagphilosophychannel7329 This reminds me of the factory readers who would read books and newspapers to their coworkers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The workers would support them as much as they could because obviously the boss isn't going pay them to read books on the clock and generally it worked out, provided there wasn't a lot of loud machinery in the room.
