    I know this piece and learned how to play it. This performance is breathtaking. The control, pace and phrasing are marvelous. The ear shattering ovation at the end was well deserved. I applauded too!! Bravissimo!!

    i think i should stop complaining that i have small hands (at least a can reach an solid octave). this lady can barely reach an octave but still play this piece really well. i really want to see her shine in the future.

    A wonderful performance, very Chopin tone, also catching the Polish sentiments. It was challenging for her to play it without slips. But she demonstrated that she actually mastered the piece!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    Great performance. And holy shit, her hands are tiny. Despite that (it's a deterrence), what a wonderful rendition of Chopin's masterpiece.

    This is a very insightful and beautiful performance of what may be Chopin's most interpretively and technically challenging solo work. Wishing every succeaas for this budding, talented young artist.

      Completely agree. She maintained the lyrical flow throughout the piece, combining pathos with power when needed. Just wonderful.

    It is a perfect performance. You care about a tempo, and you play a piano calmly and elegantly. It is my favorite performance.(from Osaka, Japan)

    BRAVO! I loved it. Wonderful playing. If anything the faster parts are bit faster than the music properly demands, but aside from a couple of very minor flubs towards the end this is phenomenally good playing. It is NOT, however, on the same level as Kate Liu's superlative rendition, which I believe is the best I have ever heard in more than sixty years of piano study, performance and itintense listening to all the greats -- and to hundreds of highly gifted students as well.

    I really like this. It's played with a lot of feeling, but none of the ridiculous simulated ecstasy that make so many pianists unwatchable. (Guess where that comes from!) This performance is all about the music. Also, it's rather encouraging to see a pianist with relatively small hands make such a fine job of this ballade. :)

    • @kzelmer
      @kzelmer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Totally agree. Kate Liu or Eric Lu are the perfect example of "weird faces" in order to simulate "how they feel the piece". Music is sound and feelings. If you want to transmite feelings to your audience with your facial expressions maybe theatre is better suited for you.
      If I had to say something negative about Miss Nakagawa's rendition is that maybe she rushed tempo too much in some passages, but nothing too disturbing.
      Beautiful performance.

      I totally agree, and it is indeed very inspiring, even educational for me, since I have small hands too. I learn a lot just by watching the way she uses her hands and arms. A very healthy and natural technique that produces a rounded, golden sound.

    • @bgates275
      @bgates275 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, while some of the pianists are being pretentious, I think for a lot of others, they are simply 'feeling the notes'. If I had to give one criticism of this particular performance, it would be that I think she hit a few wrong keys along the way. I thought the tempo was fine though. Other then those tiny imperfections, I'd say it was a good performance.

      I can understand why pianist jump around and stuff (lang lang) when they have their own show/concert. It makes the concert atmosphere a lot more “fun” idk. However in a competitive competition when judges judge you on only your playing it’s in a way “unnecessary”

      Say that again after you attended and watched a recital and make sure to describe what YOU saw from their faces while being seated. You can only say this because YOU ARE WATCHING from TH-cam. If you are too concerned about their faces, PROBABLY you want to watch a play instead, not LISTEN to a recital?

    While a really great interpretation, no doubt she did not pass this round due to the inaccuracies. A real shame considering the intent was there

      @patrickd2375 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You could see she was disappointed. But I agree, it's my favorite of interpretations. People tend to take dynamics and "rubato" to the extreme, but she told a more coherent story; it felt easier on the mind to connect the piece together.

      Spoken like a true youtube expert...
      I’d take a good musical interpretation with a few mistakes over a dull so-called perfect playing, that’s actually wayyy more frustrating.
      Mistakes are what makes us human, nothing wrong with that.
