What is a low-competition keyword?
Basically, it’s a keyword that’s easy to rank for. But with so many different Google ranking factors, people generally think of low competition keywords as topics that don’t require a lot of backlinks to rank high.
But ranking high on Google isn’t always just about backlinks.
Here’s a 5-step process which will help you find low competition keywords.
The first step is to brainstorm a list of topics. Topics means broad keywords that are related to your niche.
The second step is to expand your topics with a keyword research tool.
Keyword research tools give you information about how often words and phrases are searched. They’re also the main way SEOs generate keyword lists.
You’ll learn which tool to use and how to use it.
Step three is to filter keywords for low difficulty scores. You’ll learn how to do this in the video.
The fourth step is to check if you can match search intent. Search intent tells us the reason behind a searcher’s query. And if you can’t match searcher intent, you won’t be able to rank -- even if the query is so-called “low competition.”
You’ll learn how to figure out a keyword’s search intent in the video.
The final step is to assess if the keyword is truly low-difficulty.
Metrics like keyword difficulty and referring domains can only tell you so much. And while combining these metrics can be helpful, they don’t always paint a full picture.
This video will show you how to do this.
Low competition keywords are great to target when your website is fairly new or has low authority, they shouldn’t be the only strategy you use. Higher competition topics generally lead to more traffic and links, two things that all SEOs are after. Plus. competitive topics usually have higher commercial value.
So it’s still worth going after competitive topics but you should set your time horizon realistically.

I’ve seen examples where there are multiple content types in the top 10 SERPs. In a case like this, should I still consider it a low competition keyword to go after? At 09:57, you searched for a new niche and aimed to identify words with low competition and high traffic. However, almost all of the websites in these search results are websites with a low number of backlinks but high domain authority. This is similar to the compact flash card reader example regarding false positive implementation. I'm a little confused here. Can you help me clarify this point?

At the moment I'm building an e-commerce website. On my homepage, there are different categories. Men's Womens,Kids set up underneath the banner. Should I no follow this links because I also already have the same categories on the main menu above? Also should I no follow all URLs on Recent Posts widget in the sidebar as this might cause duplicate content? And should I also no follow all pagination links .

Specifically using Content Explorer? No video tutorial for that yet, but you can easily filter for low-competition topics using the backlinks/referring domains filter.

Your videos are fantastic! Question, I'm assume the value of high competition keywords takes into account that with a whole lot more searches and clicks people are willing to go beyond the first screen. Obviously getting 1% of 1 million searches per month is better than capturing 100% of 2000 searches. Is there any general rule for the percentage drop off in expected volume for listing 21-30,31-40 etc...?
I don't have the exact CTR stats but clicks drop off exponentially across the first page. It's not a linear decrease, where positions 3, 4, 5 and through 10 gets similar clicks. So, I'd imagine that you'll get

how to you filter keywords to screen out searches by DIYers? In many businesses serving customers who want to delegate, DIYers would be irrelevant but it seems hard to identify good keywords based only on searches by delegators, not DIYers
I started with short tail keyword and 2020 and is not really working for me can I change it to long tail keywords in this year 2021 can it still work for me because it has similar content.

How fast will I through my credits for searching keywords, filterinng ect on the lite plan. This is the main reason i have been hesitant on purchasing, I don't want to purchase then run through all my credits in one day as an example.

Yes, but it's not your "traditional" way of doing keyword research. Few things that come up:
1/ Top pages reports of your competitor's pages.
2./ Competing domains to find more competitors' top pages to research.

6:16 But Moz considers backlinks AND Domain Authority of the first 10 websites, so it is a better tool for search analysis because it is more granular and considers more variables.
But Moz's Domain Authority is not used by Google :) It's another data point, sure, but more data points don't necessarily always mean it becomes more accurate.

How can you tell if its a blog, product or category by just looking at google? what is the give-away? i'm confused that you are able to identify what type of page it is so quickly.
Titles and URLs are usually clues. i.e. "Best X" are usually list posts (blogs), results from amazon are product/category, urls containing /product are product pages.

After having tried Ahrefs, I can say that Semrush Is miles better in almost every way...More data.. More Keywords... More accurate Volumes...Way better KW Grouping/ Sorting, Much better to research what to write article about , etc... Good video/feature tho.

True. I have cross checked it with my google search console data. Semrush's seach volume is more accurate than ahref. Even the keywords (long tail with low volume) for which i am getting a traffic, ahref still not showing that keyword while doing keyword research, but semrush did it even before i used it

You don't have to worry about the backlinks! these aren't hard to get!
You can use broken link strategy:
Broken link building involves three simple steps:
1: Find a relevant broken link on a website
2: Create something similar to the broken resource
3: Ask anyone linking to the dead resource to instead link to your working resource

This works fine if you're in a huge market like baby strollers. But what if you're in a market where you get 13 results in 'phrase match' and 99 % of them are irrelevant (e.g. mentioning reddit)?
Then you might want to look into a closely related niche that's not exactly yours.

Afaik, China doesn't use Google (at least officially) and right now, we only have data for Google in most of our tools.

Not sure what you mean. $0 CPC means no one is bidding for that keyword. You don't get any money from Google Ads (or even AdSense) looking at CPC values.

i got 1 keyword search volume 0-100 can you imagine we get over 90 bookings in a month out of 1 keyword, I love low volume ones so one adverting too kill it make money

I tried the free keyword difficulty tool by ahrefs, and it kept on showing 0-1 and stated that the keywords were easy to rank for no matter what I put there. Is there any bug with the free one?
