What a fish!!! I fish local tourneys in upstate NY and have been bass fishing for years and this fish is GIANT for here! I lost one close to 10lbs and have caught two 8lbers in my life here and have one mounted. But 6lbers are even big for these parts but we do get them. We get alot of 4lbers and 5lbers. Which bags of those kind normally win tourneys around here with the 6lb+ lunkers comin in here and there. Buckhorn lake 1987 long standing record now beaten! Congrat's Jim!!! Whacky rig senko can't ever go wrong!! He just set a very high bar for NY.. Fish on!!
I was at BP auburn just last friday and they got no big large mouths in their tank, that said he made the right decision to let her loose back into her home, that is just awesome to see. Congrats Jim.
Great job his story of how his bass ate almost under the boat is ironicly the same how i caught my 12lber. I was fishing a 10 inch worm and i was just bout to reel up to make another cast and i went to lift up my rod and it pulled back. Awsome brings back memories
I was at Cayuga this week and noticed all the grass dying off. Can someone explain if the grass is being killed in the whole lake or just in the northern part of the lake. This can't be good for future fishing.
A bit disappointed but not surprising that it was caught using livescope. But not taking away from the joy of the catch. I just miss genuine sportsman bass fishing.
@@BassmasterOfficial you guys are always trying to defend obviously that’s what your position is. Yes I’ve been underneath the boat but if you left listen to his partner, they said that they’d seen another big fish hundred feet out in front of the boat so it’s obvious they were offshore using forward facing seminar. Still a great catch, but again at what cost.

Yup its all regional. Up north people get stoked for 5s and 6s so a 12 is insanity. Ahoot i know guys rhat have never caught a 5 in Mi. when i grew up in Michigan we had giant smalllies and average largies. Then i joined the military and experrienced the opposite in the south and south west. In Az i caught countless bass to 9lbs and hardly any smallies over 3 lol.

Nothin better than a good fish story! Better yet he had his buddies there to share it with and cheer him on! Congrats
Stupendous interview all points covered, congratulations to the new state record holder 👍 👍 👍
I love anything that makes you start speaking in gibberish . What a great story . Congratulations , thanks for sharing .

Great catch wont take that away.....
What was that list that came out that didn’t have NY on the top 10 states to fish!?!? Lol NY is definitely in there! Lakes Rivers and ocean.
Greetings from the BIG SKY of Montana. I saw a smallmouth that could easily take the Montana record a while back. She's probably dead now of old age.

No one is making you use it. livescope doesn’t catch fish.
Should be an asterisk next to catches made using ffs
This lake will be drained. Tournaments ruined the little O just north of Cayuga. 5 years it will be a shadow of its self.
No like on this comment from Bassmasters for you sir!!
Your not going to catch a 7 or 8 lb smallmouth......try 5 & 6......on a consistent basis.....
Thats a big yankee bass
I believe Mr Smith was the angler. He finished in the top ten. It happened on Saturday. On film.

OK NYS record using FFS confirmed put an aserisk on it

12.3 is a regular Tuesday on the California delta. Ask Ish Monroe or many of the other pros who came from this legendary waterway. Nice fish!
