I have actually found a much more comfortable setup for this with basicly the same damage if not more. Equip both dogs with the Archdemon Mace, which is 290 Ranged and Blunt. Then replace attack up S on the dogs with Knockout King. After that you will find that the monster will get almost permanently staggered and knocket down. Makes killing even less dangerous and much faster.
@@Sivarius The best we can do with the dogs right now is giving them a para or sleep weapon and equip them with the staggering scroll + knockout king to aid you in possibly getting a knockout (gathering palicos are better right now before sunbreak)
Here's something a touch heartwarming. In World, the Leshen is classified as a Relict, despite the Commission's system declaring that any monster with no obvious taxonomic connections is deemed an elder dragon, which in contrast to the Behemoth. But then you remember the Handler had been talking with Geralt of Rivia, exchanging information on the different monsters hunters and witchers could encounter. Given the Guild has the final say on classification, she must have specifically requested to her superior's superiors that the Leshen be given its proper classification as indicated by a witcher in respect for Geralt's assistance. Considering the kind of prejudice he faces in his own world, that a complete stranger from a different universe values his knowledge to that extent is adorable.
The guild's elder dragon taxonomy is at best dubious (i refuse to believe Nakarkos and Amatsu are related yet Amatsu and the leviathans aren't for exemple) so honestly we'd definitely need more people like Geralt casually getting isekai'd

Most elders have secondary classifications somewhere I don't remeber, like Dalamadur is classified as Elder Dragon first and Serpentine Wyvern second. Even tho I have to say "pure" Elder Dragons must be related somehow, after all they are the only endoskeletal hexapods...
Will add a suggestion. If you're focusing on part breaks. Buddy partbreaker has lead to entirely shattered monsters from my experience. If you use blood rite a pal with partbreaker is a great. Since the build is pure red skills just change that attack (s). I'm not a meta main. I'm comfort first when I hunt, but this looks great for my style.
Oh shit I have to try this now, a summoner mage build EDIT: I have completed my build now, and yes, they do attack when shooting your kinsect, but you have to actively perform an action like sending it out. Marking a target and sitting still while a target is being attacked does not seem to count, though what does count is spamming the kinsect send-out command which makes the kinsect attack the current spot but sadly does not spawn powder clouds. In short, all actions spawning powder do not cause Palamutes to attack, which is a massive disappointment imo. I hunted an anomaly pukei without knowing this (and with one of my palamutes being incorrectly equipped on accident) and it took me 25mins, which is much longer than presented in this video but still respectable considering I barely attacked, so if you went into a hunt knowing how to make your palamutes attack while still paying attention to building up powder it could still work, if not as perfectly as it could have. Since kinsects can’t really be buffed by anything, my build contains a lot of QoL skills and skills that I felt fit the theme. Here‘s my loadout (translated into english so some names might be off): -Altaroth-Trident+ with the cutting powder vortex kinsect, Buddy Gathering, Breath 3, Bubble Dance 2, Thunder Resist 1 -Scholarly Hood with Speed Eating 4 -Commission Vest with 2 times Wide Range 2 -Kushala Gloves with Recovery Speed 1 -Medium Belt with Recovery Up 4 -Kushala Boots with Bubble Dance 4, Recovery Speed 1 -Talisman with 2 points free meal, 1 point spiribird call, Luck 3, Evade Distance 2, Flinch Free 1. For the sake of this set, this is pretty much a god talisman. For a total of: Wide Range 5 Recovery Up 3 Recovery Speed 3 Speed Eating 3 Bubble Dance 3 Luck 3 Free Meal 3 Kushala Blessing 3 Agitator 2 Handicraft 1 Normal/Speed up 1 Evade Distance 1 Thunder Resistance 1 Capture Master 1 Flinch Free 1 Spiribird Call 1 Breath 1 You will practically be permanently full life if you handle it correctly, since you‘ll be at a distance, have passive health recovery, get bubble blight which both increases your evade window and plays into Breath by giving you a slight heal when switching scrolls and, when activating the vortex close to you, you‘ll get a massive heal as well. Then the additional reward skills are just nice to have (sadly the carve skill isn’t really available atm) and the support skills are there for your buddies. I was considering mykology, but the shrooms affected by wide range aren’t really worth it imo since regular items work just as well.

And it might be that they do not attack while I am standing still and watching the kinsect do its work, but to test that I‘ll have to try again with the proper equipment. Palamutes are the actual Monsters. Not only do they deal a lot of damage, they also constantly steal my wake up hits. Seriously I fought an Afflicted Rathian today and my Palamute put her to sleep three times. And EVERY TIME THE DOG STOLE MY WAKE UP HIT!

There is a cool interaction with GS power sheathe and the silkbinder as well. It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes when you use power sheathe the palamute will get buffed too! I think it makes them shoot more and do more dmg it's really cool when it happens and I haven't seen anyone talk about it.
As someone whos been picking up hunting horn for like a week it makes me smile every time i see a silk bind palamute knowing my horn and my cat is making the entire team and the buddys deal like 40% more damage.

Combo tips : support skills on dogs (the two yellow ones) with shuriken and gun + distance centric After that spam air dash on CB (you can do it right after one without phials) Results : two wyvern rides guaranteed per monster and can finish the quest under 10 minute fight
If the Dogs are set to follow you can pick an area use wait command, then go to an area monsters can't go, use go command and start attacking at the same time, the dogs will continue to attack anything that enters the area.
I tested this in a master rank expedition using a turbo controller, the dogs broke over two rows of parts, killed one elder dragon and three other monsters.

To be fair Speedrunners have been using 2 Palamutes over anything else BECAUSE the Dogs DPS is massively higher than the Palico but the Palicos are more useful utility wise.
Use this with a Charge Kinsect Insect Glaive, using the X+A makes it recharge faster while still sitting out by the monster. You can be a fully "Summoner" built character, because doing kinsect attacks makes the Palamutes attack too. It's hilarious and can guarantee tail cuts and head breaks and such depending on blunt or slashing bug.
As cool as this palamute setup is (and I've used it a couple of times before), I would never give up my gathering palicos for their pilfer ability. The hunt might take 20-30% longer, BUT you will get about 50% more materials. And I can't even tell you how many mantles my cats have gotten me.
I hope Josh answers this. Aside from acting as a bowgun type weapon, what else does the Palamute Silkbinder do? I tried googling and reading the tutorial but I cant find anything
The siklibinder has a secondary effect that it "grounds" the monster, its like they are tying the monster, this makes so the monster doesnt move much for some time, so its awesome helping you getting more hits as the monster will not move much
@@Arkyuu exactly, its super good, reccomend you using two palamutes with it for Afflicted monsters, as the gathering palicos doesnt give Afflicted parts and palamutes wilm give more status and damage
Gonna try this out with a Powder Vortex/Awakened Kinsect Attack build so it's all buddies/familiars. All that matters for AKA/Vortex is kinsect level so throwing in wide range won't hurt much. Just choose a lvl 14 or 15 glaive.
@@vnicholasdf I just set it up and ran the Barioth+Magnamalo quest. Zero damage skills only utility (part breaker, recovery, defense, wirebug, wide range, item prolonger). Using Laertes IG for blast and lvl 15 kinsect with double DPS dogs. Took 14 minutes though I spent a couple grabbing spiribirds and stuff I probably didn't need. Got tons of topples which was great. :) Will try a solo monster with no gathering and see how it goes.
I found that using the stoutcore fang instead of the shuriken on only one of the dogs increases their damage output alot, because it makes some spots on the monster take more damage
Can confirm, two palamutes killed the ultra mega death tiger for me. I’ve already farmed him but I really like the fight. I don’t have the same skill layout but I was using something like this to test a support lance build I was attempting (it didn’t work sadly).
I didn't use the dogs at all until sunbreak and now I have a dog and cat that I take on solo hunts, I'd love to see a video about the pros and cons of both and see which one is overall better. (Right now I think cats are better at support and dogs now have higher dps but idk the numbers so I don't know for sure)
I could have sworn there was an ability that was like "Increases the buddy's offensive stats based on the number of skills equipped"... Was I mistaken?
I feel like this would work best with Lance. I mean if you're really aggressive and keeping aggro with as much sustainability then they can just go crazy. Either that or Dual Blades because of how aggressive they are.
How would you combine this with the recent immortal build? Would it require a different overhaul, or is there room for both to work in tandem with one another since you are swapping out cats for dogs.
Great video as always! One question: what’s the best in general buddies to take out? I’ve been running 2 palicoes in Rise, never really touched the palamutes, but are they worth looking into now, or should I stick with my cats? And if so, are 2 dogs better, or one dog and one cat?
Since no one answered you yet, it really depends on what you're using them for and a lot of personal preference. Utility, such as traps, support, and getting items from a monster (plundering) you usually wanna go with Palico. DPS it's Palamutes. In terms of one of each or two of one, see above. Do you need more support, more damage or a mix of both?
My whole Monster Hunter ego has just been destroyed. The dogs are killing monsters faster than me and my “fancy setup”. Thanks RGV. What’s next? Maybe the mount in Elden Ring is a better fighter than me as well....
I feel like a status build would really work well here. Just focus on locking the monster down as much as possible so your dogs can go ballistic. Very fun idea. Personally I'm gonna stick to gathering palico and one dog. The one dog is enough to speed the hunt up. I don't want to become reliant on the dogs playing the game for me.
How long did it take you to find a palamute with those particular skills? I've been rerolling since I saw the video and not a single ranged centric lol

Wait isn’t there that new dango that powers up the dogs i forgot the name of it and i cant find it so im either blind or its a daily dango or it doesnt exist and im just remembering something else Edit: dango connector i dont know how much it increases the performance of the palamutes because i never tested it but that will probably help too

Am I doing something wrong? I did everything in the video and my build is doing no-where near as much damage as his despite having all skills but Quicksheath (I swapped it for Speed Eating).
I have but two questions A. How effective is this if you just slap it on your regular build, with no or minimal wide range and no horn B. How effective is it when combined with status dog. As in run one dog set up for paralysis and then one of these (again with just regular build and maybe working in a bit of wide range) essentially, what is better : double status dog, double attack dog, one of each, some type of combo with a cat(or are cats just bad now?) Please I MUST know
I use one dog with a para weapon and a cat with para. You don't have to do the wide range or anything like that just give the dogs the skills/weapon and they will do the work. But for which to use like one dog one cat, duel dps dog or status dogs it depends. If you want to finish a hunt faster dual attack dog. If you want a bit of safety while still having a faster hunt dual dogs but give them a status weapon. If you want comfort then one dog and one cat because the cat with support skills like the bats or wirebug are just super comfy and the dog with a status weapon will proc easy 2-3 status by it self. Duel cats will be super comfy but they do less damage but make up for it with things like bats, wirebug, kittenator, and shock tripper.
Use it on your paralysis dogs, especially since the jelly book is a blunt weapon which means exhaust + KO at a faster rate. For damage, explosive scroll 📜
i don't get it. i followed this guide exactly except for my weapon (hammer instead of HH, and the palamutes are only using melee. how do i get them to use the silkbinder?
I mean if you literally don't want to play the game at all, then don't play it? Even if it was full AFK, you would still have to restart quests every 10 minutes

I think you lost the meaning of the word "AFK". You explain midway through: you just need to keep attacking, buffing them and you have to open the fight, or they will just stare at you. AFK = Away From Keyboard Which is opposite to babysitting your pets.

I've been a fan of the Palamutes since Rise, but Sunbreak is showing they have the bite to match that bark!
Wonder if they would also attack if we are giving commands to kinsects. That way we have a full on summoner build

Would watch an entire quest where Aylia corner horns with a dog while Cotton grabs endemic life and wyvern rides to do damage.

The siklibinder has a secondary effect that it "grounds" the monster, its like they are tying the monster, this makes so the monster doesnt move much for some time, so its awesome helping you getting more hits as the monster will not move much

@@Arkyuu exactly, its super good, reccomend you using two palamutes with it for Afflicted monsters, as the gathering palicos doesnt give Afflicted parts and palamutes wilm give more status and damage
Gonna try this out with a Powder Vortex/Awakened Kinsect Attack build so it's all buddies/familiars. All that matters for AKA/Vortex is kinsect level so throwing in wide range won't hurt much. Just choose a lvl 14 or 15 glaive.

@@vnicholasdf I just set it up and ran the Barioth+Magnamalo quest. Zero damage skills only utility (part breaker, recovery, defense, wirebug, wide range, item prolonger). Using Laertes IG for blast and lvl 15 kinsect with double DPS dogs. Took 14 minutes though I spent a couple grabbing spiribirds and stuff I probably didn't need. Got tons of topples which was great. :)
Will try a solo monster with no gathering and see how it goes.

Fascinating. I'll make some custom dogs based on my own, past and present. Gotta find a way to fuse the names for multi-player, like I did for my cats
I found that using the stoutcore fang instead of the shuriken on only one of the dogs increases their damage output alot, because it makes some spots on the monster take more damage
If you use support centric it helps with the silkbinder uptime.

I’ve already farmed him but I really like the fight. I don’t have the same skill layout but I was using something like this to test a support lance build I was attempting (it didn’t work sadly).
Does this work with any weapon or do you need to be using the hunting horn?
I didn't use the dogs at all until sunbreak and now I have a dog and cat that I take on solo hunts, I'd love to see a video about the pros and cons of both and see which one is overall better. (Right now I think cats are better at support and dogs now have higher dps but idk the numbers so I don't know for sure)
I got a 5 minute run on a Tetranadon with a similar build with only Palico Damage lol

I feel like this would work best with Lance. I mean if you're really aggressive and keeping aggro with as much sustainability then they can just go crazy. Either that or Dual Blades because of how aggressive they are.

How would you combine this with the recent immortal build? Would it require a different overhaul, or is there room for both to work in tandem with one another since you are swapping out cats for dogs.
Great video as always! One question: what’s the best in general buddies to take out? I’ve been running 2 palicoes in Rise, never really touched the palamutes, but are they worth looking into now, or should I stick with my cats? And if so, are 2 dogs better, or one dog and one cat?
Since no one answered you yet, it really depends on what you're using them for and a lot of personal preference.
Utility, such as traps, support, and getting items from a monster (plundering) you usually wanna go with Palico.
DPS it's Palamutes.
In terms of one of each or two of one, see above. Do you need more support, more damage or a mix of both?
Still running a gatherer palico but seeing this I might have to set up 2 new doggo's.
My whole Monster Hunter ego has just been destroyed. The dogs are killing monsters faster than me and my “fancy setup”.

I feel like a status build would really work well here. Just focus on locking the monster down as much as possible so your dogs can go ballistic.
Very fun idea. Personally I'm gonna stick to gathering palico and one dog. The one dog is enough to speed the hunt up. I don't want to become reliant on the dogs playing the game for me.
How long did it take you to find a palamute with those particular skills? I've been rerolling since I saw the video and not a single ranged centric lol
Ranged-centric only appears on Palicoes. As long as you get one you can transfer the skill to your Palamute
How do you transfere the skills tho
There is no information out there on how to do this

Wait isn’t there that new dango that powers up the dogs i forgot the name of it and i cant find it so im either blind or its a daily dango or it doesnt exist and im just remembering something else
Edit: dango connector i dont know how much it increases the performance of the palamutes because i never tested it but that will probably help too
Yeah it's a daily dango so you can't get it every hunt. It also gives the hunter a big defense boost so would be great for this build.

Ha I already had this my only difference here is that I don't have piercing attack up on my dogs yet but it's basically the same I use throwarm scroll tho cuz when they pop holy shit do they pop off
How exactly does the palamute damage compare to palico if both were optimized for afk? What about vs mix of palico and palamute?

why not large shuriken and throwarm scroll together? they would deal way more damage with that combination.
Wait I'm confused, how did hitting the Rath at 2:40 not mount? Is that a setting or mod? Seems really useful if you don't want to just wall bang it 3 times or launch it.
Its in the options. Sunbreak added an option to choose how you want to start a Wyvern Ride.
there's a setting somehwere in the options menu in sunbreak, I think controls, that lets you toggle hit to ride on and off
How do I consistently get the dogs to activate silkbinder as a gunner? It seems they really don’t like using it while playing it regardless on how many silkbinds I use
Am I doing something wrong? I did everything in the video and my build is doing no-where near as much damage as his despite having all skills but Quicksheath (I swapped it for Speed Eating).
I have but two questions
A. How effective is this if you just slap it on your regular build, with no or minimal wide range and no horn
B. How effective is it when combined with status dog. As in run one dog set up for paralysis and then one of these (again with just regular build and maybe working in a bit of wide range) essentially, what is better : double status dog, double attack dog, one of each, some type of combo with a cat(or are cats just bad now?)

I did a 10min mr valtrax with no boost items on the dogs just me slapping my gs
I use one dog with a para weapon and a cat with para. You don't have to do the wide range or anything like that just give the dogs the skills/weapon and they will do the work.
But for which to use like one dog one cat, duel dps dog or status dogs it depends.
If you want to finish a hunt faster dual attack dog.
If you want a bit of safety while still having a faster hunt dual dogs but give them a status weapon.
If you want comfort then one dog and one cat because the cat with support skills like the bats or wirebug are just super comfy and the dog with a status weapon will proc easy 2-3 status by it self.
Duel cats will be super comfy but they do less damage but make up for it with things like bats, wirebug, kittenator, and shock tripper.
I need to figure out how to get palamutes with such affects. All i get are palamutes with defense skills i never get any with attack buffs

Any is misleading since ibushi and narwa r not east to get blue glow numbers so the gun is really hard to get up
i don't get it. i followed this guide exactly except for my weapon (hammer instead of HH, and the palamutes are only using melee. how do i get them to use the silkbinder?
get the "ranged preference" skill for them, and make sure you get some wirebug skill damage in every minute or 2

@@horizonbumpy2828 Doing mounting status when the dogs are set to Follow triggers them using the Silkbinder gun if it's not on cooldown.

Ok but they mention this is an AFK build but you have to be buffing them every 3 minute and you have to be swing so like what do you mean AFK? 💁🏻
I mean if you literally don't want to play the game at all, then don't play it? Even if it was full AFK, you would still have to restart quests every 10 minutes
6:22 why no 2 slot def decoration in the second 2 slot decoration slot in the arms for more defense
That would be because a 2 slot defense boost decoration does not exist in sunbreak

I think you lost the meaning of the word "AFK". You explain midway through: you just need to keep attacking, buffing them and you have to open the fight, or they will just stare at you.
AFK = Away From Keyboard
Which is opposite to babysitting your pets.

Failing an arena quest counts as quest progression. If you aren't doing that then there's a way to save a lot of time.
