Thank you. At the moment I'm working on a new video in the same genre as the Padraig Flynn one. Being Irish in Ireland as an ongoing thing however is probably done, though it might be fun to revisit it once for a special occasion. Maybe the 100 year anniversary of the founding of the Free State?

A very well-made video! I'm one of a very rare breed of Irish of the current generation, as I am still a practicing Catholic. I lament the absolute tragedy of the Dissolution of the Monasteries across Ireland during the reformation, as there are so many beautiful Churches now in ruins, though I am glad of the ones that survived - however still it's painful, as all of the old medieval churches are now in the hands of the Church of Ireland, and most are glorified museums, rather than being used for worship - meaning that a lot of the older Catholic churches date from after emancipation (Beautiful ones all the same, like those designed by Pugin). I understand this is a minority opinion though.

I think the destruction of monasticism in Ireland and England during the alleged reformation is the great crime of Irish history. On a positive note though, the Institute of Christ the King is doing magnificent work restoring an old Jesuit church in Limerick, beautiful place to see.

I enjoyed this "Eye on Dublin" - great stuff. I haven't been back since early 90's. Was living in Howth near the church (block of flats), did a "literary" pub crawl on St Paddy's Day, kissed a girl from Sandymount, drank a pint in the last snug in town before it got gentrified, watched the death of Princess DI on RTE that morning in Howth, and overheard an American asking a waiter when he went to pay his bill "what's the direction to Galway?"... from Temple Bar... summing up - LOVED IT ALL! Days of Glenroe (yep - went to the farm 'n' all) and way before the Celtic Tiger... Did you remember the many voting it took to be in the EU?????

Sydney is one of the finest Victorian architectural museums in the world with more rising dam and leaking roofs that you can't touch than anywhere. All this 1900 stock and planning controls causing huge house prices and affordability problems. Yay.

This is just awful, so inaccurate. I gave up after a few minutes.
Dublin stopped being a Viking city in 1016.
Christ Church Cathedral was built originally in 1030, not by the Normans. You can still tell the pre-Norman parts from the round arches of the windows.
If you are this inaccurate from the start the rest couldn't have much credibility.

In fairness at2:28 he did allude to the round windows as Romanesque as opposed to the Norman gothic, pointy style.I thought it was interesting and a bit of fun, aimed at people who don’t have a PhD in Architecture or History.
