- Cottbus is located in southeast Brandenburg, Germany. The city is also the cultural center of the Lower Lusatian Sorbs. Cottbus is close to the Spreewald and the Lusatian Lake District.
The city of Cottbus was first documented in 1156 and received its charter around 1230. It celebrated its 850th anniversary in 2006, and in 2008. Cottbus commemorated the 100th anniversary of its Art Nouveau theatre which we will see later on this tour.
Our Cottbus walking tour starts in the city center and goes all around on a quiet summer Sunday.
Did you know? The city also has a unique association with a tongue twister about a Cottbus post coachman, now a city symbol alongside its heraldic crayfish.

Daniel, loved this location! Loved how green it is there! So lovely! WoW! Sundays, are respected in Germany. Or at least in Cottbus. In America, all shops are open. Some close on Mondays, instead, if private owned. However, greed, comes first over religion, in America. So shops are open on Sundays. (Which I won't patronize to) Thank you for this great walk!
On that Sunday I went from Poznan to Frankfurt (Oder), then Cottbus and eventually home. It was a long day but Cottbus is rather difficult to reach if you're not in the area. I may try that route Bautzen - Görlitz - Wroclaw - Poznan - Frankfurt (Oder) - Cottbus again sometime soon as it's doable in 4-5 day like a long weekend. Still I'd try record on a weekday next time as Frankfurt O. was also too quiet

Letztes Jahr war ich in Cottbus, aber nur wegen Schloss Branitz, und es war richtig interessant, nun auch die Innenstadt zu sehen. Danke fürs zeigen. Görlitz und Bautzen wären sehr schön, da war ich letztes Jahr auch😊

WTF - Hätte nicht gedacht, dass Cottbus so schick aussieht. Meine Vorstellung war eher alles Grau in Grau und viele Kahlköppe in Pitbull Shirts.

This video, filmed in summer, is tangled up with a sound track from a winter film. How do I fix this?
Just checked the sound. It's about right - first some motorcycle and then a lot of steps in the quiet areas. Sometimes there is a mistake with audio as I record separately with a mic but here it appears OK
