    Thank you SO much for this video. I've been looking everywhere for a fix for this. In Nail school they keep telling me the polish is bad if this happens.... AND to buff the nail before polish/topcoat application. I have an additional question about this occurring: sometimes I find this happens when I apply top coat over gel polish, where this video only covers polish application over an enhancement. Should I be roughing up the polish, adding Protein Bond and then top coating? this seems like it would be very tedious. Again, thank you SO much for all your amazing content!

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  ปีที่แล้ว

      The main reasons why top coat would pull away from gel polish (over an enhancement or a gel manicure), would be if the gel polish doesn't have a tacky finish or if the tacky finish has been wiped off. The top coat won't stick to a smooth or shiny surface. You want to make sure you don't wipe the tacky surface off before applying top coat. If you do wipe it, you may need to lightly buff the nail to remove the shine and then apply Protein Bond.

    I still need a better explanation. Exactly what do I do? Does this work for full cover tips as well?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In order to keep your product from puddling or pulling away, make sure that you file the nail surface with nothing finer than a 150 grit file. Do not use a buffer as this will make it too smooth. After filing, cleanse with Swipe and apply one coat of Protein Bond. Then you can apply your color. If you are working with the full coverage tips, the same still applies. You want to make sure you remove the shine from the surface with a 150 grit file or a medium arbor band. Dust off the nail but do not use Swipe to cleanse the nail as this can smooth the plastic out again. Apply Protein Bond and then your color.

    Great tips. But what can you do when you make chrome nails? Then you can’t buff it because the chrome powder is buffed on top of the topcoat... and then it’s so smooth and the topcoat slides off

    • @_heatheryvonne_
      @_heatheryvonne_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stine Kirkeby Chrome nails should still work because don't you rub the chrome powder in to a top coat? The top coat will stick to the rougher enhancement but finish glass smooth so it shouldn't be a problem.

    I have experienced this same exact thing but in a different way. By that I mean, just before i apply gel polish or top coat etc..my clients would either touch their hair or use their hand to prop their chin or somehow make contact with their skin etc. Amd the gels would pull and puddle. So i assumed its oils from the hair or skin getting on the surface of the nails. This would happen after I cleanse the nails with alcohol. I dont know if after that step they get bored and want to touch everything lol.

    I make press on nails on a display and I have an issue with the nail becoming small at the end and not fitting right anymore.
    I wanted to know if I could file the clear press on nail, then add protein bond, skip base gel polish and go straight to a colored polish, cure and bam I’m done…, or should I file the clear press on nail, add protein bond, and always add a base gel no matter what, and then add colored gel polish? I feel the more layers of gel I apply might be causing the nail to not fit the same and fit smaller once the designs are completely done and ready to be worn.😞

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The formula actually does not hold the same when produced on larger scale. The quality changes and we would never want to compromise such a great product so we keep it in the size it is. It's been tested.

    • @hienzkitzvelvet
      @hienzkitzvelvet 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      YoungNailsInc ahhh gotcha. I thought it may have something to do with that. And if I have your attention still, quality & acrygel, yay or nah? That seem like a compromised formula like unscented acrylic. It just doesn’t feel right to me and YN doesn’t have it which leads me to believe that because I know you guys are all about keeping the integrity of your product. Good product or is the chemistry not all there? Thanks!

      Make sure you aren't cleansing the tacky surface from the color before applying the top coat. If you do, this will leave a shiny surface that can cause the product to pull away. Also, if you apply some top coats too thin, it can leave bare spots as well. Make sure you use a good amount of top coat to fully cover the nail.

  • @iamdreday8224
    @iamdreday8224 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for this!! I don’t think I’ve encountered this yet but I’m curious...what is the difference between protein bond and base gel?? I see both of them used at the same time and then sometimes only protein bond and then gel polish or paint right after. Can both be used In the same application or better WHEN do you use both as opposed to only 1 of them?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Protein bond is like your primer. It stays sticky so it sticks to the natural nail and then also sticks to the product. Base gel is your foundation layer. There are some instance when we don't use base gel. When we use our one step gel polish, you don't need base or top. When we are putting gel polish over an enhancement, like acrylic, you don't need base but we use protein bond to help prevent the gel polish or top coat from chipping, lifting or peeling.

      Make sure that you aren't using anything finer than a 150 grit file (not a buffer) or a medium arbor band to remove the shine. Cleanse the nail with Swipe and apply one coat of Protein Bond, making sure to cap the free edge. If you are using other cleansers, they may still be leaving residue on the nail. Additionally, make sure your clients aren't touching their nails at any point in the process (especially scratching their skin or touching their face, etc) as this can get oils on the nails.

      @@youngnailsinc I'm having the very same issues with my no wipe top coats as well. It's so frustrating!! The main ones that do it are aprés, Shine E & Venalisa Tempered Top... The only one I seem to not have this issue with is my Gelish topcoat but that's not a no wipe... help please.

      Are you using it over our polish?

    What if the buffer is a 80 80 grit?

      An 80/80 grit file or buffer is very coarse. The only time we would recommend using something this abrasive would be if you are hand filing off an MMA product.

    Sometimes the finish shrinks on top of the nail and creates holes when i pout it over mission control designs

      If your going to use finish over mission control. Cure mission control for 30seconds.

      Jill Parrish I've had this happen also, mine almost looks like a hunnycomb

      You might need to apply more during the application. You could also apply Protein Bond over the top of Mission Control.

    What would you do on a natural nail?

      I forgot to add that you were about gel polish just to clarify.

      Hi, use a medium grit buffer and cleanse the nail with swipe. I like to apply Protein Bond on the very tip of the nail and then go into your Base.

    Can we also do this with natural nails before gel polish. ?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, even with a natural nail, you want to make sure the surface isn't too smooth as the product will pull away. We recommend prepping your natural nails with the medium arbor band to remove the shine, cleanse with Swipe and apply Protein Bond for the best adhesion.
