    Great video Fraser. Got a real feel for the ship. I have to say it looks a lovely ship. I love the deck area. I would seriously consider this for a cruise. Thanks for your hard work.

    Lordie, those seas look like what we experienced in the north Atlantic, westbound crossing southampton to NY on the Queen Victoria at the beginning of January in 2009! Kind of makes sense, as it looks that it was christmas time on your voyage. And you looked absolutely wonderful on your formal night! Although I much preferred the oh-so-very-scottish-look of the red bow tie 😉 That just screamed scottish!

      Yeah, this was around Christmas time, so far from calm seas were expected, haha! Oh, I’m glad you think so - I do really love wearing my tartan bow tie! 😊

    Enjoyed this, thanks! Yea, I like when they split the buffet up late in the morning setting up lunch so late risers can still get breakfast. Crazy seeing the pool area so deserted in the evening. 😳

    • @FraserAtSea
      @FraserAtSea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree re the buffet - I found it great on MSC that I could go up at 1130 and still get breakfast! I do LOVE the areas of the ship that feel quiet - it’s a real trick finding them at times!

      Ah, they’re very similar ships - I’ll be getting a full ship tour from Azura online in a few weeks, so that’ll hopefully help you get a feel for what she’s like! Thanks as always for watching Tina! :)

    Hey Fraser, great video - we were on Azura in February around the Canaries / Madeira so this brings back great memories. We had a couple of rocky nights towards the end of the cruise which to be honest my Son and I loved walking round the ship late at night shooting a couple of videos for our little channel, however the wife and daughter weren't as keen on the waves so had to turn in early to try and sleep through it! Great trip though and absolutely loved Azura! Cheers 😉

    • @FraserAtSea
      @FraserAtSea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh, sorry to hear they were sick - did they take anything to help with that, out of curiosity? I do love Azura after my week in the Canaries - I’m hoping she has good, cheap rates again this winter that would allow me to jump back on for a week at some point!

      @@FraserAtSea They had some little patches that you can put behind your ear or on your belly button, they tried behind ear at first but most effective when on the belly button! We fancy trying a different ship next, but would definitely go back on Azura again. Just wish we weren’t limited to the school holidays as we keep seeing cracking deals come up in term time! 😉

    Totally chuckling at your pre dinner, dinner.
    Guilty as charged your honour
    Well....its like second breakfast, breakfast really.
    And the portions on MDR evening meals on most ships are small and actually the snack after your buffet pre-dinner....kinda 🤔🤣

    • @FraserAtSea
      @FraserAtSea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha, in my defence, on this cruise I wasn’t frequenting the midnight buffet, so maybe I’m allowed to snack on additional meals… Haha, safe to say I’m now paying the price wardrobe-wise…!!

    Ah Fraser - that was fab. We have been on Ventura 3 times and Azura twice (had one on Azura cancelled due to Covid) so it was lovely to see around her again. Booked on Arvia in June a bit worried it'll be in your face and a bit too "family friendly" for our liking as we love the sisters so much.
    Off to explore your other Vologs now x

      Hey Deborah,
      Ah, amazing - welcome to my channel! Also, thanks so much for taking time out of your day to watch and leave a comment - good to e-meet you :)
      I completely appreciate your fears about the biggest ships - I had the same fear with Britannia, as I was worried she’d feel huuuuuge compared to the smaller ships. However, I was really pleasantly surprised! I’m super jealous that you’ll be on Arvia in June - she sure is built for the sunshine! ☀️ 🤩

    The worse weather we encountered on a Cruise was in the Carribean. It was our 1st cruise and we had 2.5 sea days before arriving at San Juan in Puerto Rico. Whilst it was nice and sunny out on the ocean, the wind was fierce and the sea very rough. It was so bad on one day that they closed all of the outer deck areas and you basically had to stay inside. I think the Captain said there was a combined headwind/ship speed in excess of 80 knots. We discovered (thankfully,) that we did not suffer from motion sickness either, and on the 3rd morning as we arrived in port, arrived at what had been a very quiet buffet over 2 days for our usual breakfast only to discover the place was jumping with Americans who had suddenly appeared from their cabins. Apparently most of the ship had been suffering from sea sickness for 2 days, which was a real shame.
    I liked your video diary of a sea day. When the weather is good we sunbathe and go to quizzes. When the weather is bad, we read, go to the casino, eat and go to quizzes. We like quizzes. Never win, but it's nice to find out how little you know about some subject.
    We are going on the Azura in late August for 7 nights around the Eastern Med and are really looking forward to it. Last year we were on Cunard Queen Elizabeth and I was amazed to see that the room decor and general ambience of the Azura is very similar. Both ships were launched in 2010 so I suppose this is to be expected.
    Thanks again (fellow Scot.)

      Oh, sounds like an interesting couple of days for you, ha! I’m so thankful it doesn’t impact me, but I have friends who really struggle with the notion.
      How interesting about QE - I’ll be on there in August - you’ve got me very excited!
      Also, delighted to have a fellow Scot on my channel - hello! 👋🏼 😊

    Great vlog Fraser, so no Kilt or tartan trews yet? I find the kilt very heavy to pack, Black Watch/Campbell tartan as trews, being dark blues/green are easy to match with 😆. Have had a couple of North Americans with apparent Scots heritage being very disappointed, on hearing my accent, that I wasn't wearing a kilt tho!

    • @FraserAtSea
      @FraserAtSea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! This is exactly why I wear the tartan bow tie as a ‘nod’ - the kilt is just SO heavy, and also a bit tricky to fit into a suitcase! I do really want a pair of tartan trews though - might treat myself this year at some point - I know what you mean about people expecting you to be in tartan, haha! Thanks for watching - good to hear from you Stephen!

      @Fraser at Sea on MSC Seaside in the Caribbean, did once have a elderly lady from New York insist I stay to talk to her for 30 mins, eventually telling me I reminded her of her grandfather, a Glaswegian who was the original immigrant to the states. It was lovely.

    Your formalwear is super cute! Rough seas always makes things more interesting. I know you mentioned the movement briefly, but I may have missed it if you answered this: do you ever get sea sick? Do you take anything to combat motion sickness? Looks like you had a great day at sea!

    • @FraserAtSea
      @FraserAtSea  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I don’t get sea sick, but I have a friend who does (not actually sick - she just feels a little ‘off’). I’ve never been impacted, but you can take tablets (which apparently work really well), or wear pressure bands etc! Do you feel it much?

    • @TravelingWithTravis

      @@FraserAtSea I am prone to motion sickness, so I used to take Dramamine every day of a cruise. The problem is, it makes me drowsy (you’re not supposed to mix it with alcohol, but I’m a rebel). My last few cruises, I’ve been weening myself off of it, and so far I’ve been pretty unaffected by the movement. There was a bumpy sailing recently where I didn’t get sick, but I started to overheat, and felt off the rest of the night. On that sailing, I only took Dramamine once. I’ve seen the patches and bands, but I’ve never tried any of those. My goal is to get to a point where I won’t need anything at all.

    • @FraserAtSea
      @FraserAtSea  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Charlotte! It really depends - the pools were open for most of our cruise - only when it got really choppy did they close for safety reasons. The easy way to tell is that the pools will be covered in netting if closed - otherwise, it’s fair game to get in, haha!
