It had to do with their schedules but also with the fact that Michael insisted on bringing his pet Llama to the studio. Freddie couldn't cope with that. Sorry - MJ had a great voice and was a sublime performer but there is absolutely no way his voice is "stronger" or more powerful than Fred's. There's another "golden duet" mix of the same song in which Freddie is given more lines and overwhelms Michael.

Freddie actually sang OPERA, with a famous operatic soprano (Montserrat Caballe ) and had to hold back so as to not overpower her. He could also sing just as soft on the opposite end of the spectrum. (I’m guessing you’ve never watched/listened to Fred sing live, or to any of his ballads.) Again, I ADORE Michael… They’re just totally different creatures.)
