    My father has been a construction worker for years. Recently things have been bad, we can barely afford a 1 room apartment. The contractors he's been working for screw him over, by not paying him or avoiding him. It's gotten. So bad he almost got into fights with those people. As for me, I'm sick and tired working so hard at jobs that pay me so little. So I decided to stand up and start up my business soon. I know it won't grow right away but I want to make it work for the sake of my father, he's had 30+ years of experience, as long as I can negotiate then I can make this business grow. Hope u guys liked my story and if anyone is willing ti give tips or help me out, I would appreciate it, I would love a mentor hahahaha.

The new name I like most, as construction people put a lot of "sweat" what they do. For me creating and growing company is like rising a child, giving him/her what you have, your time, your money, your heart and when you get the result desired, I sit back and think "This is life, and you have done something in this life". This is a great video! I have a roofing business that does well! I believe that showing your clients pictures of your work is truly another way to land that deal. Clients choose their contractors not only based on their reviews but also on knowing they can do the job! This is where my portfolios come in handy and I send at least 10 with every bid and land 98% of my bids! I built this software with my team and love it because I have everything nice and organize with the ability to share it in seconds! You have to love what you do and most importantly, take pride in your work and the word will spread. Return every call asap and make sure you always follow up, but never be too pushy.

This year is off to a rough start and having issues collecting. Seems like I always have open invoices 60-90 days and the contractor I do 90% of my work for says he hasn’t gotten paid on the job therefore can’t pay me. Lets say I have already developed a million dollar business and now I need advanced procedures for joint ventures or developing a corporation with other partners? I am a KB1 General Contractor and I think I would like to take it a step larger. How do people build skyscrapers? I can not bond for that amount and I have never built one. I would need partners. How do I develop partners whom I have never met? I think its beyond a business plan. I may need to compile a portfolio that lays out my financial standing and resources but I am not sure what that looks like. How do I find the right businesses that would like to partner with me? What does that business look like? What would I request of them to prove they are worthy?

    • @SweatVenture
      @SweatVenture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are great questions Philip. Firstly, I would recommend taking the HeavyApe.com course, bc there's a lot of good nuggets of info pertaining to scaling a construction business on there. That being said, the first thing that comes to mind about finding "big", reliable partners is speaking with experienced, "big" attorneys who handle contractors. Consider how many big fish they know and have worked with in the past. If you approach them in the proper way and show that you have some clout, they shouldn't have any issue referring you to potential partners.

Anything is possible if you insist on things being done but now I am looking for these next big steps.

    • @SweatVenture
      @SweatVenture  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should take the Heavy Ape course, which explains more, but yes you can always buy an existing construction company. But, I wouldn't do this unless you have extensive experience and know what you're doing. Sometimes, it's ideal to build a company from scratch so you learn all aspects of it.

      That's not a bad idea. Although digital marketing is usually the way to go these day, you might benefit from literally going door-to-door and simply ask homeowners if they need their driveway pressure washed. You could, at least, leave a business card.

    I have 1 year experience of selling software and was thinking of helping my dad’s home renovation business (tiling, flooring, painting, masonry). In order to sell these services do I need to have experience myself working in the construction business? Because I don’t understand the equipment or technical aspect. Also is door to door sales a good approach in construction to find clients?

      @SweatVenture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment Ali. Short answer is no--go ahead and help your old man! I actually have a similar experience helping my dad a while back. You just need to learn how to win more projects for him. IMHO, I wouldn't recommend door-to-door. I would focus on social media. Like comment below this said, HeavyApe.com is the ideal place to start. This course has an entire section of lessons dedicated to marketing and scaling construction businesses.

      @@SweatVenture Thank you for your advice. I will look onto this course for sure. Could please also tell me if this makes sense. So I was thinking of helping his business after my current software developer 9-5 job. Is it feasible to do this alongside my 9-5?

    • @SweatVenture
      @SweatVenture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ali-bk1hr Short answer--yes. It won't be easy... but then again it wouldn't be easy if you didn't have a day job. I am a consultant in the Heavy Ape private group so I'm happy to help you more more there too, but, for now, I would recommend learning about marketing and prospecting leads as much as possible. This is how you will help your dad the most. He really doesn't need your help with construction-related work at all. You need to get more clients for him. It's that simple.

    These numbers are so off. Im currently working on a construction job where the minimum income earned on-site is 90k a year. This includes spotters and laborers. There are plenty of two crew HDD construction companies generating 2-3 Million a year just in that field alone. These numbers are more along the lines of landscaping or maybe residential construction.

    Hey just went into business with my brothers all as sole proprietorship to do windows and door installs, we wanna hire people, what’s the structure of what I need to do it all legally , Canadian “ON
    What sort of registration do I need , ideally the people we hire are more or less already qualified installers, it’s much less of an apprenticeship.

      We’re located in the US so, of course, regulations will be different in Canada. That being said, I’m assuming to legally hire employees for your business in Ontario make sure that your business is registered with the Ontario government, acquire a business number from the Canada revenue agency, and check out the Employment Standards Act. It’s always best to speak to an attorney. Also, you should definitely check out the Heavy Ape courses. GOOD LUCK!
