He was so mistreated from the beginning by Ward and all the way to the end he was neglected, even when he verbally told many people he needed help. He’s not a psychopath, he just needs help and someone to genuinely love and care for him.
That’s all understandable but it doesn’t give him the right to inflict pain on others. There are plenty of people in this life who have been abused and mistreated, but it doesn’t excuse shitty behaviour so pls don’t enable that.

I think the only way his character could be redeemed is if he died doing the right thing, like helping Sarah & her friends, and yes picking her over their father and getting over his obsession. He’s too far gone at this point. The shit he’s done to Sarah. Even if her character does forgive him, her friends won’t, we as an audience won’t. And then there’s the matter of the fact that Rafe did indeed kill sheriff petterkin, and everyone knows it. I think it’s unlikely he gets away with something like that long term, especially since he has shown 0 remorse about it and 0 remorse about anything he’s done, like shooting and drowning his sister. He is a psychopath and I am not sure if professional help would help him at this point
@@ariellasubs firstly, he doesn't really seem like an actual psychopath with aspd. secondly, psychopaths aren't inherently bad or violent; they're certainly not irredeemable. there are so many stigmas ugh. even if he had aspd, he's not just evil.

@@lgic4206 yeah he is definitely messed up in the head and I am not justifying his actions in any way but I really do believe that deep down he does love her you can see glimpses of that love when after JJ stole the money from Barry and barry told rafe that he would avenge them and he went to Sarah and tried to get her to tell JJ to give the money back and I know it was more self preservation for him than caring for her but I think that some part of him did care and when ward was believed to be dead he showed a lot of caring towards her.
I doubt it he probably never loved her. Not everyone love thier siblings. Could have hated her since she was born. He got two sisters so I guess he doesn't have to be worried that any of his siblings will grow up to be bigger and stronger than him. If one of his siblings was a boy then he would have something to fear lol.

And the fact that he promised his father in the last episode of S2 that he will bring her back and make their family whole again, that shows how much he cares about her being part of the family. And don't forget how much ward played into Rafe's psychotic mind and nature.
"You've always been against me" Rafe is in the wrong for killing, but that line hit deep. He was misunderstood and needed help. He told his father, someone he wanted to receive love from, he needed help. All he wanted was love, he craved his father's acceptance and love so bad that that is what fucked his mind up, and that's the scary part, since all he wanted was his father's love, he was willing to do anything for it.

I hate how everyone brushed off the fact Rafe needs help, when he himself admitted he needed help. Like Ward literally told him to "Man up" when he said he needs help. What type of father is he? Yes, he has a lot of problems but i just think he needs someone to love and care for him. I feel like once he gets the love and care he needs he'll turn into a really good character.

one thing i take to heart is rafe and his struggles, i see so much of myself in him that it hurts when people say such horrible things about him - because it’s reflex’s onto me, in my eyes. his pain and suffering is so under spoken and misunderstood, he wasn’t okay at the little age of ten years old and nobody helped him, nobody even spoke to him about it. yes he killed the sheriff, and in no way am i excusing him actions, but he’s losing his sanity trying to push himself to his limits and prove himself to his father, but he just gets pushed away.

Ward, Rafe and Sarah. My favorite characters. I really believe that the last episode showed that he truly did care for Rafe and I see that as a huge step for someone like Rafe. He went from not caring that he shot his own sister, potentially almost killing her, to having a choice on whether to shoot her in the last episode, and he chose not to. I don't know about you guys, but I see that as growth.
I hope that Rafe gets the help he needs in season 3 and him and Sarah get the relationship they should’ve had in the first place

Would you say they loved each other? They were both nasty to one another, Dan especially and did and said horrible things to another.

For all the comments saying Rafe loves her, I think you’re wrong. I don’t think he loves anyone. I don’t think he even knows what love is.
His entire life he’s been neglected by his parents, watching as Sarah the “perfect child” got all the attention he so desperately craved. This caused jealousy and hatred towards her. His stepmother doesn’t give him the time of day, he has nothing in common with either sisters and never bonded with them, his dad was a bully to him and we can assume not ever nice or loving towards him, and it’s never discussed if he’s had a serious someone in his life he’s been in love with. He craves to be loved I think, that’s why he does everything he can to please his father, and ultimately, to be loved by him. But he doesn’t even love himself, he hates himself. I think it was the cause of his drug problem too. That’s just my two cents.
And I think the only way this will end is with Rafe dying, perhaps as a “sacrifice” for the greater good may make him redeemable in everyone’s eyes. Though he makes an interesting character, like Topper, and I hope they find a way to salvage his character.
God I wish they showed more Rafe and Sarah moments where they were brother and sister, lovingly, but some families aren't like that, it's really sad, but it's the sad truth

he never had an easy life. but he is a sociopath. he is maybe not an bad person, but he is mentally ill and he is dangerous. Yeah, how the people treat him, brings that out, but it was there before. he knew that. he asked for help. but no one listend. when you watch closly, you can sometimes see how he is afraid of this part of him, he gets scared when he realizes what hes about to do or what he has done. And yeah, he also needs love, but what he really needs is psychologist help. Because he is sick and dangerous.
