  • Fritz Christen (June 29, 1921 - September 23, 1995) was a decorated soldier of the Totenkopf division of the Waffen-SS during World War II.
Christen and his anti-tank battery were engaging Russian targets north of the village of Lushno (Luzhno). In an initial engagement, Soviet skirmishers killed all of the other men of the battery. While exposed to artillery and small arms fire, Christen manned his 50mm cannon alone, holding on without supplies or provisions for the next three days. When a counterattack by other Totenkopf troops recaptured Lushno, Christen was credited with having knocked out 13 Soviet tanks and killed nearly 100 enemy soldiers singlehandedly.

Many thanks for sharing this extremely interesting and much appreciated video. I have studied German WW2 Military History for many years especially that of the Waffen-SS but, until today, had never before come across any mention of this amazingly Brave and dedicated soldier - I will now try to discover more about him. I have now, both 'liked' the video and also subscribed to the 'History Teller' channel, and look forward to receiving notifications of any future videos - Thanks again and Best Wishes.

I am glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your like and subscribed. Even I got surprised when I found out his name there are many famous pictures of him on the internet but I didn't know it's him. I am already working on the next video but I have already a few videos , they are interesting also.

a lucky nazi that survived and died on his bed in peace time, bravery in fighting for the wrong cause makes you either stupid or fanatic,we had a sergeant who fought in a machine gun nest against these nazi beasts,Dimitrios Itsios, when no bullet was left he surrendered, the nazi hero officer had him executed or shot him himself,a war crime unpunished, like so many in Greece, this country blackmailed Greece on the matter of greeks going to work in Germany in the fifties for the man who organized the gathering of jews in Greece with most of them exterminated in the death camps,he was set free after a few years in jail due to political pressure from Germany
