@@paramjeetthakkar7088 I just followed Jake's advices tbh. At the beginning I tried to remember and do active focus everytime I went outside. By the time it became a habit and I didn't put too much thought into it. I also stopped with the measurements. That's the amazing part in my opinion, you passively improve without much effort. One thing I did really attentively though was taking off my glasses everytime I read or looked at something up close. I also feel like the biggest step for me was when I didn't need a Differential for close-up anymore, that's when you really start to notice the changes. Wish you good luck bro! I’ve even had it wrong myself for a bit, I thought just because I’m low myopia I could end glasses wearing all together but even a little myopia is too much blur. I had a really good eye doctor who reduced my prescription from -1.50 & -2.00 to -1.25 & -1.75 so I lost a quarter diopter in each eye and with these new glasses I was very slightly blurry but over a month or so the blur disappeared. I was seeing noticeably better without glasses too so I stopped wearing them. My vision went no where. I ordered a new pair of glasses this time -1.00 & -1.50 and I will wear them all the time outside. Another important mistake to avoid. You NEED to go outside and get sunlight for your eyes and stare at things in the distance. Jakes method in a nutshell works flawlessly with gradual diopter reduction over time along with plenty of time spent outside
Hi jake! I'm a 15 year old girl who has a -3.50 vision. I started wearing glasses back in 2013 because my eyesight was starting to meddle with my grades. Thankfully I have never changed them since my mother knew that glasses were bad and would only impair my vision even more. recently, I've started to notice floaters in my vision. Scared, I immediately searched it on google and all they said was that floaters were normal. I didn't buy that BS though so I searched up myopia conspiracies and found this website that talked about axial elongation and the cause of myopia. Somehow, I found your blog and I immediately signed up to your 7 day emails. i went through them and I just wanted to say that sadly, I don't have a credit card and I'm not 25 yet. So, I can't do the systematic approach. But I'll definitely do the DIY approach for now! Whenever I can I try to do active focus as much as I can and I've noticed that my vision has started getting better! Still have floaters but I'm guessing that will go away in time. I love the community as well as your passion!
Floaters are normal. Unless you see a dark ones that actually affect your vision seeing floaters is normal and not a worry. I was afraid of them when i first got them and my eye doctor checked my eyes and said they were healthy and its normal. Hope this helps
I totally misunderstood what blur adaptation was. I thought it was almost the opposite. For me, blur adaptation is really only a thing when I take off my glasses completely. As long as I'm wearing glasses, psychologically I feel like I should be able to see what I'm looking at so I keep trying to see. But if I take my glasses off.. well, I kind of just give up. Unless I'm specifically forcing myself to try to see.
This is great stuff. A lot of us are following this, and it works. But I love to go back to basics every once in a while for affirmation from Jake, who has himself had such success with these principles.
4:59 Yeah my eyes are currently something like L -2.50, R -2.75 sph and R -1 cyl and so far I've been doing close up work without glasses but at the moment it is the case that I either need to be really close or it's too blurry to focus through. I'm gonna get -1 glasses for the close up work and see how it goes
I wish you didn't speak so negatively of Bates. He broadly had the same understanding as you, but with massively fewer resources, and in a time where people probably didn't do quite so much close up work. I couldn't quite understand how and why you differed from him until I watched this video (newby to endmyopia), but you've explained it well, and your view makes sense. So grateful that you share so much so freely - but that's the internet (and its screens!) for you. Many, many thanks.
Bates was brilliant for his time. When I'm less positive, it's about "Bates Method" today which has little to do with Bates original work, is largely out of modern context, and sold as some miracle fix for myopia - which of course doesn't work. Thanks for the note!
Sir I have -4 for one eye and -3.5 for other eye i did blur adaptation and that was worst part of my life i was only -1 but by forced seeing on school board i make it 3 and than in lock down phone use make it 4 and 3.5 i will try your method i am going to watch all your video and 7 days email. So what exactly causes axial elongation when it comes to wearing glasses? 1) Wearing all glasses? 2) Wearing only overprescriptions/perfect prescription? Or 3) Wearing glasses that are more than the diopters needed to view how far you are looking at? I’ll wear underprescribed glasses to not see blur as long as it doesn’t lengthen my eyeballs even more....
Paramjeet thakkar I’ve been pretty busy since then, I’ve decreased it by 0.50 so far. I barely do active focus nowadays due to my workload but I’m hoping it eases off a bit
I just found your videos and your blog and program. I have recently been having issues with my new prescription from the eye doctor. At first it was because the BC measurement was too small. But then I noticed that I had trouble reading things whether it was when someone showed me something on their phone or on a page of text. This is on my new prescription. But I found some unopened contacts that have an old prescription -5.00 in both eyes while my new prescription is -6.00 in both eyes and I decided to try them on if I viewed things blurry then I would just use the new prescription but instead I see just as crystal clear with the Acuvue2 -5.00 contacts. Also so far I am not having any issues with the lower prescription. Lower prescription no headaches, no dizziness, I can see my phone screen clearly throughout the day. If I look at things like a clock from 22 ft away I can read it well. So far I am going to keep using the lower prescription contacts.
Depends on the specific scenario. Perhaps start with correction that lets you see clearly to a useful and comfortable distance. (and of course be safe with driving etc etc)
But the instructions for people with -1.5 that you shouldn’t need to use glasses. I’ve already dropped .25 not wearing glasses (90%) of the time. I used to be -1/-1.2 now I can see clearly at -0.75 should I use -.5 glasses?
Yeah he did say in a video about the final dioptre that a good way to deal with that final dioptre of improvement is to have the -1.00 glasses or whichever strength you have around that value and just take them off when you can, like in the mornings when your vision is better, go outside and active focus in the distance, then when you need to put those glasses back on because things are too blurry, do so. Over time you can reduce your reliance on those glasses without needing to step down to 0.75, 0.50, 0.25 because those are very large steps that can be frustrating during the days when your vision is worse. That advice kind of confuses me because if stepping down from -1.00 to -0.75 feels like a big jump then surely taking off your glasses as a whole feels like WAY too big of a jump, but I wouldn't know because my myopia's stronger at the moment. Give it a shot though, he's helped a lot of people through this by the looks of it so I think he knows what he's talking about
@@harry_page mmm yeah, that would make sense but i stopped wearing the -1/-1.5 and tried old ones i had (after a solid month or two of active focus and not being on my phone as long. And i could see clearly with them but mostly with the -0.75 lens. Then i started being more inside using my phone more and the -0.25 progress was gone. I think consistency is key. Getting sunlight look into moderate to far away distances without glasses. That will work
@@DrACAPELLAS Ah yeah I see, maybe those final improvements are the hardest to make and require the most outdoor, distance viewing time. Good luck with it :)
So, if I am -6.00 dioptres, and according to your 7-day emails to minus 1.5 dioptres off your current prescription, I should get a reading/up-close-objects glasses of -4.50 dioptres?
i have around -1.50 in one eye and -0.75 in the other and i haven't worn my glasses in two years. i've only seen slight changes on my vision but no worsening at all (thank lord). i'm currently trying to figure the whole 'active focus' thing out so i can get on with my improvements, but so far i'm still very confused lol should i go back to wearing my glasses?
Omg this is totally crazy. I had all these questions a few days ago and you have answered almost all of them with this video. Jake your timing is incredible. Thank you. But I do have 1 more question. When finding glasses for close up work, if my optometrist won't help me find the diopters I need( for close up work), do I spend time looking for another one who can help me or is there a way I can find out myself? I just started summer school (I'm 15) so I need to find a way to get close up glasses fast. Anyway, I'm sorry if jake has answered this question before ( I know how much he hates ignorant people who are too lazy to find the answers on their own) but if someone can just point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
Exotic Parallel I'm sorry. I should have clarified. I'm wondering how to find the diopters I need for close up glasses. If I am at -4 d what do I decrease to? How could I find that out on my own?
Nobody can answer how much you need to reduce. You need to find lenses that allow you to see the screen clearly from about 50-60cm away, without creating additional hyperopic defocus and so that if you lean back a few inches it will begin to blur. Jake has a diopter ruler on the site that will help you get an idea if you aren't sure
I tried Bates method last year. I wasn't wearing my glasses and I was really depressed then. I haven't put 2 and 2 together. I had no idea it may have been because of the glasses. I actually started to feel better when I came back to glasses. Now I'm gonna try to improve my eyesight different way (I mean: using your method), so wish me luck!
Well, i have a question. I've never really wore glasses and I don't feel uncomfortable without them. My eyes are about -1D, maybe just a little higher. Sooo... should i put on my glasses at least sometimes, like when going outside?
another excellent video, thanks for that - a short question - whats the key to continue improve the eyesight when (for example : actual 20/20 with -x.xx D , and a reduction of 0,25 gives not a little bit of blur, it gives only 20/50 or 20/70 ? What to do, if the smallest possible reduction feels to much ?! How to continue .... ?
I might start wearing -0.5's but I don't know if thats right. Anyways I really needed a video like this because I've neglected my -1 glasses for over a year, hence I think I'm blur adapted. Its hard at -1 diopters.
It depends. I'm 22 and for the last 10 years I've never wore glasses. Somewhere at the age of 12 I started to notice reduction of my eyesight, but it was so gradual that I haven't noticed it and adapted to my blur vision over the years. As Jake has mentioned in the video, one of the major contributing reasons to my depression was exactly that but I didn't know about it consciously. I have -1.5 now. Not wearing glasses didn't let me to screw my eyesight even further but not wearing them haven't improved it ether. So, It boils down to establishing proper vision habits and reading Jake's blog as often as you need. Started wearing -1.0 glasses. I'm still learning but what I've figured out so far is that one needs to have total visual acuity of -0.5 / -0.25 diopters to improve eyesight while avoiding hyperopic defocus, eyestrain and actually using distance vision.
wear a 0.5 less always . i had tried 0.25 less which did not chalenged the eyes. i tried 1.0 less and it was too hard to handle. for me 0.5 works.ie you put on -0.5 lens
honestly, no. from my understanding, that would create TOO MUCH blur, when you only need slight blur. it's like weightlifting, go bit by bit. reduce, to .5, find the blur point and try to clear it with active focus.
Here I want to ask something please consider my question🙋 Actually I have -2.75 in left nd -1.5 in right eye.I don't have much work on screens nd also I don't go anywhere more. I can spend 2 hrs outside in sunlight easily. I want to sat that I have much time to pay attention to my EM journey there is no obstacles. So my question is should I use my normalized? I really not able to understand how much time I should use them I m not using them inside my house at all apart from watching TV.I only use them when go outside, driving other than that I barely use them. Please please suggest me M I doing right or I should have to change my habits please
Hi Jake, I have glass prescription of -0.75 and -1 with astigmatism of -1. But I haven’t wear glass on a regular. Should i have to wear those glasses or not. However, I see blur and double vision.
Hi jake. My prescription (self measured) is -1.25 both eyes. Should I get lower prescription glasses or should I continue to not wear my glasses or should I wear my glasses normally except when looking at screens. I’ve found active focus in the past 5 days of not wearing my glasses and I do it, I’ve also been going on walks since I started. Should I just not wear glasses when I’m inside because I can see fine? And wear glasses when outside?
Another question How low do you need to go on finding the right low prescription on contacts and glasses ? As I just got an increase to my prescription of 0.25 when my vision hadn’t changed much, but I can see almost perfect with a -5.00 Acuvue2 app contact lens prescription. I am currently wearing those -5.00 contacts and so far no issues.
If you -1.50 try getting -1.00 reduce half of dioptor to have small blur to challenge you distance in hard condition like indoor but on day light you should active focuse without glasses
I wear an IONSPEC medical eyeglasses and it improved vision and prevented my glaucoma from getting worse. You also need to change your diet and lifestyle...and trust in God the most🕊️🙏
steveo314 I’m currently -4.00 and have my prescription glasses for that. But you’re saying I need another pair that are -2.00? For what exactly? Reading? I am short sighted (myopic) why would I need reading glasses
Is it possible that this subject is actually very crucial in improving? As if , should you be seeing clearly all the time (trying to convince your visual cortex to see 20/25 or so all the time?)
My prescription is -7.25 left and -7.00 right. I ordered new glasses online via “tendaglasses”, with -6.00 every high, and same cylinder. It’s been 4 months but I don’t have any improvement. What can I do? Is it waste of time?😢
Important: Go to a new optic shop, don't bring your existing glasses / contacts. They'll always start with the diopters they know you've used and go up from there. Also relying on their measurement solely makes little sense. Have an eye chart, always cite your own measurement results for context.
So basically reduce your prescription to a point where there is a relatively small blur but you still can read texts, rather than extreme blur where you can't see crap.
Thanks man. Now i really understand what i am going through.when at home i dnt wear glasses and many times eyes are not challenged. In office while on computer i remove them most of the time and sometimes wear them and i feel that eyes are working on the Blur. I had -3.5 and -2.75 , but i think this will be less now.
This blur adaptation topic is a little confusing for me. I get the example of just taking your glasses off and then suddenly being under corrected multiple diopters. But what about wearing your differentials most of the time? In theory they’re about 1.5 diopters weaker than your optometrist prescription and I can see ok in the distance with mine. Not quite enough to drive but otherwise pretty good. And when I get a clear flash I can really notice the difference whereas if I were just .25 under corrected a good clear flash might actually make me feel overcorrected.
Can I spend time in outdoor with out glasses for an hour period of time? Can that be helpful? Like If I spend 3 hours outdoors.. Can I spend 2 hour with lower correction glasses and 1 hour without glasses? (Considering current glass power is about -3.00)
So basically we should be used to be seeing things clearly and then challenge our focus when we remove our glasses by doing active focus. I have low myopia and when i do active focus I can see clearly even thought i don’t wear glasses that much. So should I start wearing them to challenge more or not
is there any information about spherical, cylindrical, axis numbers? Because I just see -4.25, -5,-8 etc. What are these numbers exactly? Spherical or cylindrical or what? I have spherical+cylindrical+axis numbers. how to convert this to a single number for each eye as everyone is saying. Please help Jake
What if we spend 8+ hours a day on a computer for close up work? Also would you recommend plus lenses for doing uplose work? i currently have to use my minus lenses for uplose work... I just feel like that's really bad. My eyes are getting worse. Also i can see about 18 inches infront of my face before it starts to get blurry. my computer screen is about 24 inches awway from me, So it's like REALLY blurry but i can still make out letters / images. would you say i should use plus lenses? well you talk about if you had -3 lenses and a -1 lens would make a blr challenge, i thought using plus lenses upclose was the solution, not minus?
I have -2 myopia and I can see on screen with no glasses with little blur. Does clear blur challenging on computer screen help at all on improving myopia?
I have R: -1.75 and L: -1.50) and astigmatism R: cyl -0.50 / axis 100 and L: cyl -0.75 / axis 055...the lower part of my glasses with +2.00 for reading...since going through your 7 day email course and looking at blogs, I have been going without glasses, except to drive...so would this be considered blur adaptation? or am I close enough to being glasses-free that this is OK? thanks!
Otie, thanks for replying! so I got a snellen off the internet (hope it's accurate!), and I can sometimes see some of the numbers in the 20/40 line... BUT it seems like I do the best with snellen or reading licence plates when I close my eyes tightly and then open them widely...is this shutting tight/opening eyes wide still fairly accurate?? thanks for any help you can give me!
Otie, thanks again! I feel honored! so shutting eyes tight and then opening them wide to clear text you are saying is an ok method to clear snellen? (because i heard that squinting is not good...)
Sharon Kuepfer Thank you for asking these questions ! I wanted to know too I am at around -2.25 in both eyes, and I don't feel that uncomfortable when I don't wear my glasses, so I was wondering whether I could also stay without them. And I also have that same effect when I close my eyes and then open them widely, it makes the writings look much more clearer for a second ^^
I've lost two diopters in my left eye and three diopters in my right eye over the past thirty four months using pinhole glasses and strong +6 reading glasses for at least 300 hours per month. I'm aiming for +2.5 D, which is the blindness point meaning you have far points of 40 cm. You can't just eliminate minus lenses. You have to do the opposite thing you did to get more myopic in the first place, which is to wear progressively stronger minus lenses as prescribed by optometrists. The whole hereditary thing is total bullshit, because my parents and grandparents didn't have myopia. You have to think of it as a homeopathic technique, where like (reading glasses) cures like (myopia).
Wow what valued content seriously👍 Is this true for children as well? Or children shouldn’t be put on glasses children age 8 years or around should start with a weaker prescription or they should rather do things that can help them grow out of their myopia naturally ? Kind regards

Depends on the specific scenario. Perhaps start with correction that lets you see clearly to a useful and comfortable distance. (and of course be safe with driving etc etc)
Not sure...
There are ways to measure for yourself, also on his site, but on average ppl try 1.5 diopters less and adjust from there

Another important and clarifying video, thanks Jake!
i have around -1.50 in one eye and -0.75 in the other and i haven't worn my glasses in two years. i've only seen slight changes on my vision but no worsening at all (thank lord). i'm currently trying to figure the whole 'active focus' thing out so i can get on with my improvements, but so far i'm still very confused lol should i go back to wearing my glasses?
hi , have you made any improvement ?
Omg this is totally crazy. I had all these questions a few days ago and you have answered almost all of them with this video. Jake your timing is incredible. Thank you. But I do have 1 more question. When finding glasses for close up work, if my optometrist won't help me find the diopters I need( for close up work), do I spend time looking for another one who can help me or is there a way I can find out myself? I just started summer school (I'm 15) so I need to find a way to get close up glasses fast. Anyway, I'm sorry if jake has answered this question before ( I know how much he hates ignorant people who are too lazy to find the answers on their own) but if someone can just point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
go to eyebuydirect or zenioptical, bing-badda-boom. Simple As That!
Otie Brown excellent! Thank you very much!
Exotic Parallel thank you!
I tried Bates method last year. I wasn't wearing my glasses and I was really depressed then. I haven't put 2 and 2 together. I had no idea it may have been because of the glasses. I actually started to feel better when I came back to glasses.
Now I'm gonna try to improve my eyesight different way (I mean: using your method), so wish me luck!
how did it went?
@@Golden2Talon It didn't went too good.
How's your eyesight improvement journey going
Well, i have a question. I've never really wore glasses and I don't feel uncomfortable without them. My eyes are about -1D, maybe just a little higher. Sooo... should i put on my glasses at least sometimes, like when going outside?
Find active focus. Get an eye chart. Challenge your vision, keep a log, see whether it improves.
Apparently with -1d you can do distance Active Focus without glasses snd gradually recover back to 20/20. You are a lucky person!
another excellent video, thanks for that - a short question - whats the key to continue improve the eyesight when (for example : actual 20/20 with -x.xx D , and a reduction of 0,25 gives not a little bit of blur, it gives only 20/50 or 20/70 ? What to do, if the smallest possible reduction feels to much ?! How to continue .... ?
Then it's too soon.
I have -1.00 is both eyes and am wondering if wearing no glasses is is the right thing to do as the blur is only minor. Great video once again!
I'm still learning but what I've figured out so far is that one needs to have total visual acuity of -0.5 / -0.25 diopters to improve eyesight while avoiding hyperopic defocus, eyestrain and actually using distance vision.
wear a 0.5 less always . i had tried 0.25 less which did not chalenged the eyes. i tried 1.0 less and it was too hard to handle. for me 0.5 works.ie you put on -0.5 lens
honestly, no. from my understanding, that would create TOO MUCH blur, when you only need slight blur. it's like weightlifting, go bit by bit. reduce, to .5, find the blur point and try to clear it with active focus.
..........so he should get -0.75 glasses ???
My question is when do you do the D2 reading ? I can do the D1 and D2 reading without contacts or glasses.
Here I want to ask something please consider my question🙋
Actually I have -2.75 in left nd -1.5 in right eye.I don't have much work on screens nd also I don't go anywhere more.
Hi Kirti, how’s it going now?
Hi Jake, I have glass prescription of -0.75 and -1 with astigmatism of -1. But I haven’t wear glass on a regular. Should i have to wear those glasses or not. However, I see blur and double vision.
chasma lagauna laage vane chasma maathi nae depend vai haalxau ra time to time ajjhai badxa..
If I don't really need to focus my eye too much, for example doing a morning walk without wearing glasses, then is it okay for my vision to be blurry?
I have flashes or glare of light without glasses and I have myopia any suggestion? if I will not wearing glasses that may harm?..
Not wearing glasses doesn’t warm you in any way
Very, very good Jake, I was wondering about this. I am used to blur because I'm -1,50 both eyes and through my glasses away... Thank you!
You also need to change your diet and lifestyle...and trust in God the most🕊️🙏
So when I go get my prescription what do I need to tell them when I'm buying my glasses?
steveo314 I’m currently -4.00 and have my prescription glasses for that.
Yup. Active focus / blur challenge is the key stimulus.
Can I fix blur adaptation by wearing my glasses?
My prescription is -7.25 left and -7.00 right. I ordered new glasses online via “tendaglasses”, with -6.00 every high, and same cylinder. It’s been 4 months but I don’t have any improvement. What can I do? Is it waste of time?😢
I reduced my contact lens from minus five to minus 3.5 three years i went eye exam still my eyes are minus five no changes
By the way, if your blur adaptation has made you stuck, is there still a way to stimulate your eyes to reduce prescription? Thanks.
I stopped wearing glasses unless I’m crucial moments like when I’m at work(not every time) or driving. Is that good or will it make he adapt to blur
Thanks man. Now i really understand what i am going through.when at home i dnt wear glasses and many times eyes are not challenged. In office while on computer i remove them most of the time and sometimes wear them and i feel that eyes are working on the Blur.
I had -3.5 and -2.75 , but i think this will be less now.
But how?
Nitin Patil update?
Update
How's your eyesight improvement journey going
(Considering current glass power is about -3.00)
For distance can i go with glasses or not
So basically we should be used to be seeing things clearly and then challenge our focus when we remove our glasses by doing active focus. I have low myopia and when i do active focus I can see clearly even thought i don’t wear glasses that much. So should I start wearing them to challenge more or not
best video ever! beardless Jake!
what if someone has never used glasses but knows they have myopia lets say of -2 should they start wearing glasses?
is there any information about spherical, cylindrical, axis numbers? Because I just see -4.25, -5,-8 etc. What are these numbers exactly? Spherical or cylindrical or what? I have spherical+cylindrical+axis numbers. how to convert this to a single number for each eye as everyone is saying. Please help Jake
A blur adaptation is kind of like going to the gym but only doing the same and only workout without progressively overloading anything.
hey, i have -6 on the left and -5 on the right, should i active focus for close up or distance vision by reading a book? Appreciate your response, thx
I have been doing this for about a month and if I ago back to the routine of keeping my glasses on will I be able to regain that active focus?
blur adaptation really do be ruining my life huh
What happens if i have never worn glasses? Should i start now? I have about - 1.5 D but I am used to live this way?
I would probably be tempted not to start wearing minus.
How do you fix astigmatism, does active focus fix astigmatism
This should be the Summary video the "Just" of it. Its the title thats off.
is it helpful for cylinderiCal glass
Three dislikes are from retail optometry dudes
But I can't afford glasses
Ayy yo wtf ??
i feel like there's some deep life lesson here lol
What's the diopters of that ending video? 🤔
Wait, blur adaptation can cause that??
thank youuuuuuu so much Jake
I have -2 myopia and I can see on screen with no glasses with little blur. Does clear blur challenging on computer screen help at all on improving myopia?
How's your eyesight now? Did it improve
Hey Jake, How's Your Study Comming Along? Can we get any update on it?
It'll probably be a couple years. In progress with data collection but not a high priority for the actual writing for now.
What does mean by lazy eyes?
I wanted to know too
I am at around -2.25 in both eyes, and I don't feel that uncomfortable when I don't wear my glasses, so I was wondering whether I could also stay without them.
And I also have that same effect when I close my eyes and then open them widely, it makes the writings look much more clearer for a second ^^
Na Nasria, good to know someone else does this closing eyes thingy!
I am -14 on right eye and -15 on left... Help me
What should I do exactly ?? Plz say...I hv -3.50 myopia....
How's your eyesight now? Did u try active focus
You have to think of it as a homeopathic technique, where like (reading glasses) cures like (myopia).
thanks man i appreciate for your help
Did your eyesight improve
FUCCCKKK. Did not know the part about depression / social anxiety. Screwed myself.
All fixable, most likely.
Thank you Jake.
Wow what valued content seriously👍
Is this true for children as well? Or children shouldn’t be put on glasses children age 8 years or around should start with a weaker prescription or they should rather do things that can help them grow out of their myopia naturally ?
Kind regards
