When Infiniti was introduced for 1990 their ad campaign had zero cars in them but rather images of nature, and they were ridiculed and struggled to be taken seriously. Jaguar should have taken note. R.I.P. Jaguar!
That was probably the worst ad campaign ever. Infiniti never recovered in part because their products are mediocre. Jaguar is victim to the woke - they’ll go down as the automotive version of Bud Light.
@@BenzsandBowTiesThankfully you are correct! Mercedes is going returning to their 4.0-liter V-8 on the 63. I just hope they reintroduce their I-6 on their C43 as well.
I worked for Jaguar in the early 2000s, it's sad to see what their product lineup is becoming. Do you think they'll even exist as a brand in 10 years? Starting next year, their product lineup will consist only of three bland EVs. As a luxury and performance car company with a rich heritage, this isn't going to cut it.
I bought a 2012 xf supercharged brand new. I knew the brand was loosing it way when in 2018 I walked into the dealer and wanted a new one and they informed me they don’t even sell them in v8s anymore.
The only Jags I really see anymore are Waymo's, basically a self-driving Uber with a ton of gear on it like Lidar. That alone would alienate future buyers, people don't want a premium luxury car that's associated with a goofy looking taxi.
The issue with the Aztec wasn't the original conceptual design. It was that GM executives insisted it be built on an existing minivan platform, which meant the design had to be awkwardly streched and imposed on a platform with hardpoints never intended to be a crossover. As for Jaguar, the only thing they needed to copy was thwmselves. So much rich heritage to draw on and instead they chose a "plastic luxury" aesthetic.
Love the videos, not sure about the words scrolling the bottom, it’s a distraction, we can hear you speak. Some words are changed to words you didn’t even say.
When Benz made the first CLS they said they wanted to build a car that looked like something Jaguar or Maserati would build. Jaguar’s image was never a problem, it was envied by the best. The cars were just kinda crap tho.
Well… it was a sad and dying brand… their newer cars were either weird ford-ish crossovers or weird bubbly sedans with no soul. For me peak Jaguar was like mid to late 90’s and early 2000’s XJ8L, XJR and the XJ8 Vanden Plas models… the comfort, the quietness, the interior quality was second to none. They were a dream to drive for a decently sized sedan and had a very distinct look. I haven’t looked at a Jag in a long time, nor have I thought about one, so I agree if they wanted people talking about the brand… mission accomplished.
I kind of agree. I worked at a Jag dealer in 200-01. I liked the cars then, except the S-Type was horribly unreliable. I love the last XJ, and really want to get one. A 575 model. I’m just scared the brand might be dying out. The cars they have now pale in comparison to the XJ. Just have to wait and see what kind of cars they bring, and hope they’re better than what they have now. The early 2010’s C-Class was bad as well as the E-Class, but the newer ones are much better. 🤞 for good times ahead, despite the negativity.
I know work at an Infiniti dealer now, and their cars suck too. They need a rebrand. Electrical issues, cars at 80k needing new engines, cars with doors that won’t open or lock. 2k cars having problems. The new QX80 has had 3 recalls already. I saw a video that thought the brand would be dead by decades end. I wouldn’t be surprised.
When Ford owned jag,,,,Ford to save money on manufacturing used many parts from crown vics and Taurus and Tempo and thunderbird on jag models,,,so at this point jags reputation as a re badged Ford cannot sink much lower 😮😮😮😮😮😢😢😢
Jaguar says copy nothing but has copied every other woke company with an ad like that. But it got people’s attention, even if mostly negative. While Jaguar is pushing debauchery, Volvo just put out one of the most moving, pro-family, pro-life car ad of all time.
The Aztek was a flop but it was 20 years too soon. Now everyone wants a crossover, and they all have plastic body cladding on the wheel wells and lower door trim, the crossover coupe style became a thing, active lifestyle vehicles are a big thing, Subaru Wilderness trim, Chevy Activ trim, Nissan Rock Creek, etc. Aztek was laughed at, and then basically copied by everyone else 15 years later. And Jaguar is dead, they'll never be able to come up with EVs better than Tesla or Lucid or the other big legacy OEM's and why pay more for a Jaguar than a better built, better performing BMW/Mercedes. Same problem Maserati has.
Interesting take on the Aztek. I will agree that many more SUV’s today have some similarities, but I still maintain the Aztek put it together all wrong, it was a very odd vehicle.
Missing the main reason why people upset- people are tired of woke ideology. Tired of the politics of trans, gay, pronouns, etc.. It isn’t that it was merely a change from history and heritage.
Jaguar’s late model vehicles are literal garbage. They’ve been lost for a long time. If we want a majority of electric, we need major infrastructure growth of charging options.
I truly believe the decision for not only the rebrand but the all EV strategy was made years ago when so many more people believed that to be the only way forward
The problem is that Jaguar as a brand has been dead since at least 2016. The ingenium engines have a tendency to blow up, and the cars were underwhelming except for the F Type. There is no hope for the company without the rebrand. Not enough people cared about the image to buy a jag.

I was not aware that was Infiniti’s original advertising strategy. That is another brand that is struggling mightily to stay relevant
That was probably the worst ad campaign ever. Infiniti never recovered in part because their products are mediocre. Jaguar is victim to the woke - they’ll go down as the automotive version of Bud Light.
I know we are talking about Jaguar. But, will Mercedes rethink what has happened to the C63?
I believe they have been closely listening to the feedback on that car

I think it’s fair to say their future is very much in jeopardy

A company that built the iconic E-Type. Shocking.

The cars were great. Until they went to America, where their mechanics have neither the knowhow or sophistication to look after them.
The last good Jag was the 02-05 S Type imo
The Jaguar rebrand reminds me of the “New Coke” marketing fiasco. Perhaps Jaguar will do a similar about face.

Dump the captions…very annoying
In my view they have achieved a milestone everyone is talking about it. Kudos to them they wouldn't have gone viral via a traditional campaign.

Counterpoint: people like you and I are thinking about and talking about Jaguar for the first time in YEARS
Not all publicity is good publicity.
Americans don't appreciate class. Gone have all their large vulgar pieces of junk. Now they all buy honda or other Japanese cars.
If Jaguar sales weren't bad enough, they are now finished!
Lets just say I'm glad you're a Mercedes dealer over a Jaguar dealer

Wrong . Rich people, celebrities and Royalty buy them.
Jaguar needs to be retired as a brand new
Can we talk about handsome he is? 😍
