- This is the big boatyard, teardown, fixer-upper episode, it has been a long time coming. Will Goodwin ever go back in the water again?
Several years ago I embarked on taking this 45 year old tiny 4meter boat around the coastline of the UK. I didn't know what the hell I was getting into. Now it's time to take up the kind offer of some maintenance by the professionals. Cockwells custom boat builder in Cornwall offered to step in and show me how fibreglassing is done by the professionals. **Warning, things get a little drastic down at the boatyard. I don't think they expected me to be there for so long or make so many useful suggestions about other things we could fix whilst we're there.

That’s not generosity, that’s one very astute MD and a great workforce.
Did you watch the one where Raymarine upgraded all Harry’s electronics, must be over a year ago? They don’t do it because they are philanthropic. They do it to keep their name at the forefront of customers’ minds.
@@PhilbyFavourites - Meh. Cockwell’s don’t need the publicity. They have a solid business. I think you’re being a little cynical. Raymarine are a worldwide company, so yeah they can afford it. But Cockwell’s didn’t have to put so much effort into it for free.
@@Liofa73very company needs publicity. Getting 100,000 or so people who are interested in boats to watch a video showing the craftsmanship and quality of your boat building business seems worth the few dozen hours of skilled work and the few hundred pounds on materials that this would have cost. It’s good business.
It’s still generous stop being so cynical even if it is a publicity stunt it’s still a nice thing to do to help fix up a guys old boat

I don't think I've ever a smile on my face for such a long time. Perfectly shot, annotated, edited and presented. The folks at Cockwells come across as a thoroughly decent bunch of guys who clearly love their craft and are so incredibly proud of it too. Can't wait for the next installment!
It just makes me SO SO HAPPY to see good people offering their resources, expertise, time and effort to help others! This was stunning to see how everyone were so kind and humble and just hard working! Goodwin is a lucky boat !

Great stuff as always. Lovely advertisement for Cockwells. They seem like a very good-humoured and professional bunch.
Andy & Cockwells have done an amazing job, helping you out. Wood encapsulated in plastic always sounds like a recipe for sous vide wood if water gets between the layers, presumably some boats are glassed entirely? No sandwich of materials? small jobs turn into bigger jobs, and electronics aplenty relative to the size of your boat, they’ve made a gem out of your boat, let’s hope it weren’t too crazy expensive all round, what a marvellous set of folks at cockwells.
The mention of Tally Ho in this video (another You Tube channel) made me want to see you take Leo as a co-pilot for a short leg of the journey later in the summer. If he is back in the UK this year, it would be great to see and I'm sure he would enjoy it and fit right in.
It's always a joy to see craftsmanship like this. And seeing it aplied to the little speedboat that could makes it even more satisfying.

I put this video on, the moment I saw it. I had intended to do a bit of work while it played away in the background, but there is no chance. I am CAPTIVATED by this series. It doesn’t matter if it’s Renault Aventime servicing, or bouncing over the waves around the coast of wales, every single time an episode is posted I am enraptured. Love love love it…. Thank you !

The attention to detail that Goodwin got, and the workmanship is amazing to see. It was great to see how despite all the adventures thus far Goodwin is still holding up really well.

I really missed this show and I'm always so amazed how beautiful your trips are. WOW seeing the buffing polishing result is so nice. The boat with the two diesel motors is now on my list of what I will buy if I win the lottery.

Harry’s videos always make me happy. I’ve never been into boats but I have become an enthusiastic follower of his adventures. He does seem to meet some lovely people.
I remember when the light boat video came out originally, and saw Goodwin on the crane at the side. So nice to see hwe being taken care of, and being brought up to new spec. Need to get her up to the Arctic!

What a great company Cockwell are, brilliant people and dream boats. Goodwin looks the seal’s flippers, tactical and built for purpose, incredible workmanship. Never though I’d sit through 45 mins of a tiny boat rebuild.

Harry it’s wonderful that the generosity of a top line boat builder has made it possible for you to completely renovate Goodwin but then it’s not everyday that someone endeavours to circumnavigate Britain in a very small vintage speedboat, so I think it’s well deserved. Can’t wait for the next episode and hopefully sea trial.

Was surprised when he said "vinyl ester" instead of poly. Enjoyed watching the Cockwell's crew ply their trade and professionalism. It has been my experience that no matter where in the world a waterman may find himself if he is among other watermen he is home. A pleasure to see these watermen in action.
I live in Texas now but I grew in Devon. Every summer the Dart River was where I spent all my time. I went to KEVICS in Totnes etc
I competed at regattas all over the uk growing up. I loved sailing.
I really look forward to every new you tube video you release.
The views from the water bring back such memories for me. Sometimes you are filming in the exact place I sat or sailed years 40 ago bobbing up and down gazing or perhaps intent on a regatta race.
It’s amazing how it takes me right there. Suddenly breathtaking as I see again a memory long gone.
Also, and importantly!
I have lived all over the place since leaving Devon at 18 years old. I learned 2 things relevant here.
1. Ya’ll’s accent is correct ! Everywhere else is wrong.
2. Devon is beautiful. It’s as beautiful as just about anywhere.

One of my absolutely favourite series on any TV media. Cockwells are an amazing group of people - demonstrated their fantastic capabilities and experience.
Having watched this video, I wish I had some dosh to spend with Cockwell. British workmanship at it's absolute finest. Not a corner cut in sight.
I am really enjoying this but it makes me want to live on a boat again. Had a 43 foot cutter rig in San Diego bay. It was a good old wood with fiberglass over and was a great blue water boat. When it was in the Marquesas it got into 135 mile an hour hurricane and put the mast in the water twice.
God I miss the water.

OMG Goodwin looks 30 year younger!! What a refurb, utterly amazing and I never knew you could sand and compound painted on Gelcoat to that level of shinyness!!
