When dealing with cut logs, occasionally an axe will get stuck in the wood. In this video, I demonstrate one way to safely remove such an axe by using the same mallet that drove it into the wood in the first place.
On vacation with no tools except an ax and I was stuck good. Not my place so I didn’t want to leave axe for someone else to solve. About 10 taps and it was free. The fact you used another piece to mallet the axe made the video for me. Saved me from a shit guest review👌🏽
My best advice would be to make sure your axe is sharp and your wood is properly dried, and to get a heavier mallet. If that fails, the piece of wood may simply be uncooperative for your purposes.
works for full stable rounds i guess, my peice is a smaller split, blade driven in deep enough to be at the handle... i'll get it tomorrow with a wedge.

I have the opposite problem. I want to drive my axe into a log so I can do some carving on it. But it won’t stay. Any tips?

my axe head started to split, the handle is old and rotten and the axe is more stuck than it ever has been, i hope this works

my axe is twice the size of yours and sunk bad. (wet wood). I clicked on stuck axe, not expecting a stuck large hatchet lol
