You were the first bassist on internet to make clear that Bill Wyman plays a minor progression over a major chord. I Had never understood this until now. Thanks!

I love it when someone takes the time to get it right. This attention is what differentiates real musicians from bad pub bands.

You are brilliant, man. It is imperative to me to play all riffs correctly. I arrange pop rock and country songs on solo cello, and sing along. I’m currently working on this song. Thank you for this lesson. I usually play the main riff once, and then play the bass line while humming or whistling the lead lines. It’s so refreshing and even comforting to see you teaching this. Keep rocking, man!

Great lesson! This song is always debated. I isloated the bass line by itself. The pick up lick at the beginning of the song is major not minor (like bluegrass) Up major, down minor . The rest is all minor. Also on the accent you metion with the vocal, the major third is there the first time, then minor up and down. Not sure if he is doing this on purpose. There is also syncopation going on in the verse on the A chord. The E is like a county bluegrass line the A is syncopated with a R&B feel ....

You are correct it is not a G, its very clearly a G#. He's a good sales guy I'll give him that

Search for the isolated bass on youtube.
It sounds like minor on the way up, and major on the way back down.
      Tell me what you think.

@@clownpocket I agree... not the same going up as down. I hear G# on the way up, G on the way down. Also in the Ed Sullivan clip you can see that Wyman plays it higher up the neck.
