I've been told he actually asked Final Answer every time and they just edited it out, but here it really seems like he was able to just make it go orange himself.

This is ridiculous, these questions are way way harder than anyone gets for the first 5 questions, these are usually between 2-8K

No they're not, I was 7 years old when I saw this. This was in the days before the Internet was big and tv ruled the home. Eastenders was the biggest soap on tv and we used to buy tv guides each week to read spoilers on the soaps, it would mention the actors names, even after all these years I still remember many of the cast's names hence Todd Carty. Even if you didn't watch football than you still would have heard about Everton fans fighting Liverpool fans in the news because they've been at eachother's throats for years. The aer Lingus one was obvious and air on a g string is an incredibly famous piece of music used in many tv shows and movies over the years, in fact at the time it was being used in a chocolate advert where they would mention the name of the song at the bottom of the screen. The last question you can just work out.

If you dont know the tv series, the question is impossible. The question about the placement of stadiums is similar in that sense. The first questions is easy, but definitely more difficult than usual first questions. The question she failed on is imo the easiest one out of all of these. But it is very weirdly worded and just doesn't make much sense in general
I agree. I didn’t know the football, EastEnders, or archbishop ones. The rest I was able to guess. Usually £100-£1000 is much easier.

Breaking it down, she said she doesn’t watch Eastenders and isn’t a football fan so there’s no reason why she would know it. The £1000 question was more difficult than usual and her linking it to pri was right. It’s easy to criticise when you don’t have cameras pointing at you and studio lights.

I personally would’ve been dead on the Eastenders question, and the only reason I got primate is because English is not my first language and I managed to link Prymat (Polish) and Primate.

If you don’t know for certain what the answer is, then use a lifeline. There’s no point in saving them for later, if later never comes. What’s the point in going home with 2 lifelines 🤷♂️
She used 2. She had one left. Chris could have asked her if she knew what a marsupial was. That would have made her think twice. But yes, may as well use all your lifelines!

Unless you’ve completely no idea then you’re best saving them for later questions that are worth significantly more. If you use them all up in the beginning then you probably won’t get very far anyway.

I feel sorry for anyone who never makes it past the first threshold or even past the first question. There have been some times where contestants say answers quite too fast and they don't check themselves, just before turning their answers orange. Yep. Seen it before, not a good feeling.....ever.
Scandalous so called easy questions and I'm very good on general knowledge
I’m a wiz on the first 5 and even I only got 2 and guessed the last. Poor women got rigged questions probably to bait the lifelines .

These questions aren’t just easy, they’re very easy. She made them look more difficult than they are. He even gave her the answer to the first question, which anyone could work out fairly easily. Aer Lingus - easy question. Everton - easy question. Mark Fowler question is easy even if you didn’t watch Eastenders at the time. The last question is a deviation of a classic general knowledge question that comes up time and time again; “Which archbishop is known as the Primate of England?” - which is the Archbishop of York but it’s used as a trip question as the instant answer most will give if they don’t know is the Archbishop of Canterbury - which is “primate of all England” just to add to the confusion. Maybe you could say the last one is a 1000 or 2000 question, albeit a very generous one. If I somehow got on this show and these were the first five I’d be delighted. Seen much more difficult ones in the first five in the past

The thing is - that it is possible to prepare to a certain extent - british geography , football , classical music , nursery rhymes , soaps and tv ,sayings , plants and animals are recurring themes - I don’t watch football , but I would have revised top 30/40 teams - players managers and locations before going on the show - I also would have revised east Enders and coronation street (which both come up often)

These questions were a piss take! They were actually horrendous questions that were hard to answer (not the Everton one as I think thats pretty common knowledge) the questions leading up to £1000 are silly answers with an obvious answer but these were really tricky.

The Everton question didn’t necessarily require knowledge of football. Reasonable knowledge of UK geography would have been sufficient to know that Everton is an area of Liverpool.
I think you will find if you watch the clip again that the contestant’s husband was horrified when he heard her answer which he knew was wrong......whether he knew the correct answer is of course pure conjecture.

"Gust up a gusset", I am waiting for the first song of any genre to be titled, gust up a gusset. Lack of knowledge on football and soaps is excusable, but it is a general quiz and that sort of knowledge is a prerequisite to answering the more basic questions.

To be fair, the questions prior to £1000 are usually not just 'easy' but humorously obvious as well. The ones this lady has may be easy to some, but they're not obvious. The Eastenders one, for example, is only easy if you watch Eastenders, I didn't know that one either, nor the one about the bishop! Real shame

I'm from Africa. I could only scale through to number 3. I failed the Everton question even though I watch football. The questions are too hard for that level in my opinion. I feel for the lady.

I could only answer the Bach one and the Aer Lingus one. My family never watched EastEnders either (and it's not like the average council flat family had a computer and internet back then), so I didn't get into it; I never took interest in football - I just knew Manchester United and Chelsea were famous, my nearest club was Brentford and my grandad supported Ipswich; I don't really know anything about bishops other than the Archbishop of Canterbury - I just knew the name of our vicar as "Father Peter". These were the hardest first 5 questions I've ever seen on WWTBAM!

Primate is the main bishop in a country : the top guy in Ireland is known as 'the Primate of all Ireland'

I just googled “primate etymology” (which I should’ve done before asking the question ) and apparently the use of primate for bishops in the sense of prime/first precedes the use of primate for monkeys/humans (first/best among the mammals) by almost 600 years. I had no idea what the EastEnders answer was, my phone a friends wouldn't either. So I'd have to waste an Ask the Audience on such a low value question. Plus if I didn't watch football I'd probably have no idea Everton was in Liverpool.
It's the british show and everton historically are good, famous even. Shouldnt have a question about any show like that in the first 5 but the rest of them were fine.
