    I’d very much enjoy the video you suggest of revisiting perfumes from when you first started your channel and seeing how they resonate now!
    Thanks for the video, Cherie!

    Ah, perfect length video. I'm enjoying the rare English summer heatwave on my day off, eating a half-melted Toblerone and watching you chit chat for half an hour about 'fragrance'n'stuff'. 😎👍 What's interesting is how my fragrances smell almost totally different in the heat, with really hot slightly sweaty skin making everything smell ten times more delicious and moreish. Certain fragrances just do NOT make sense to me mid-Winter. Like the fun offering from J-Scent 'Ramune'. It smells like weird fabric softener in January but now, today, late June in the heat?! Wow! And Koke Shimizu by Parfum Satori smells like a rain-soaked hot Australian cement pavement and freshly mowed grass, right after an unexpected rain shower, with a bit of petrichor mixed into the sweet green juiciness for good measure. I could go on. I think Brits know exactly what I mean as this sort of weather is short lived and thus, the way in alters their fragrances is more dramatic and distinct to the sense. Anyhow, loved this video as usual. 30 min is a good length as my coffee is gone by then. 😄☕

    Amazing video Cherie! So interesting :)
    Btw really love the idea with revisiting old fragrances! I was thinking that you could really do reaction video on your own old videos, I think it would be super interesting to see the development of your taste and perception of smells, I can imagine that it developed a lot over the years on youtube.

    That was great seeing your life with perfume and the ‘journey’. Songe is definitely a bit spicy and has a vintage powdery quality. I have the EDT, which was a blind buy. On paper it’s right up my alley, but it makes me sneeze my head off for some reason on top of not being a true like or love.

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh what a shame! I have the edp and I actually love it but it’s not an anytime/anywhere perfume, by any means. Thank you for sharing!

    I Love Songes for summer and I adore a well done cumin mote. I find it so sexy. At any rate, last week after sampling Un Bel Amour D’été by Parfum d'Empire, I immediately got a full bottle. I also thought this had tuberose, but it's more gardenia, ylang, champaca, turmeric and an even stronger cumin note. I didn't even realize what it reminded me of at first, then someone on Fragrantic mentioned Songes and I had to go compare the two and yes, it's very, very similar to Songes but more animalic as more cumin. I guess I didn't need it but I totally didn't connect the two when I was sampling. All I knew was it was fantastic, and it is! oxJulia

    This was such a fun video Cherie - glad you got your hands on Coromandel, the 200ml bottles are huge. I have a 200ml bottle of Beige and it doesn’t fit where I keep my perfumes so I have to keep it in the spare room 😂

    I'm sad the Ormande Jayne line went up in concentration and so much in price. I'm tempted to buy Sampaquita or Tanger, since my local store still has the older formula and bottles. I already have my beloved Champaca.

      same, same. I managed to buy another bottle of Woman (old bottle) discounted.

    I think it is possible that it is the orris itself at higher strength that makes Vanille des Afriques seem darker. To me it has a tang that was not so much there in Vanille d’Iris!!

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hey Cherie, I will be visiting Brisbane for a couple of days soon. I live in a small, regional city in NSW and don't get to smell a lot of perfume so i want to take advantage of being in Brisbane to do so. Can you suggest some perfumeries in BrisVegas where I can get my nose on some great perfume?

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Libertine parfumerie on Robertson st in New Farm. And a few boutiques around there also stock various ranges (e,g. I think Calexico across the street has Carner Barcelona, Beso Beach and Parle Moi? I can’t remember what the other boutiques around that area stock but worth taking a wander through them)
      tbh that’s pretty much it other than the department stores which have some more of the Libertine/Agence de Parfum range but the libertine Parfumerie is small so they are very selective about the physical stock they keep on the shelves. Zena the store manager is lovely, tell her I said hi! The whole team are great.

    Do you like Ormande Jayne woman a lot because i feel based on notes I would adore it but im currently obsessed with Sycamore Chanel which i have 5ml decent of. Do you think ormande maybe would be up my alley?

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ormonde Woman is by far one of my top favourite perfumes! And I’m not just saying that- if you trawl back through my videos where I talk about OJ, Ormonde woman has been at the top for me for many years. That said, it is a bit darker and spicier than Sycomore. It truly is hard to tell if you would love it but if you like spicy, green and woody, you might enjoy it. Where are you based? You might be able to get your hands on a sample fairly easily as they do lots of discovery set combinations. :)

    • @dmac6704
      @dmac6704 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheTopNote thank you so much! I live in UK. I am able to get a pretty nice discount on OJ woman at the moment as they seem to have replaced all their formulations with Parfum rather than EDP I believe? Curious if that would also factor into how/if it smells different. Yes I love spicy and dark perfumes. I want to smell like a spiced forest 😅

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dmac6704 yes they had a massive sale recently with up to 50% off the edp formulations. My understanding from the ones that I have smelled in the new bottles is that the scent profiles are pretty h the same, just stronger concentration of oil :)
