  • Since our arrival on May 2, 2022 in Nuku Hiva, located in the Marquesas Islands, we have been dreaming of flying over its vertiginous and green peaks with our paragliders. We had to wait 10 months for this to happen! Finally the trade winds fade and the weather conditions allow us to fly for 3 days in a row.
As soon as we arrived in Anaho Bay, we went ashore to do a reconnaissance walk to find a suitable launch site on the surrounding peaks. After 2 hours of walking, we find a dry grassy slope. It's not luxury but it will do!
The next morning we set off with our paragliders on the do. Climbing and climbing under a blazing sun. We sweat of all our body during a good hour to reach the deco.
We make a small flight to put back in the bath. we go back up at the end of the afternoon for a second flight already more confident and a little more engaged.
The landing is a little limited. There is not much beach which remains at high tide! Fortunately there is always a small escape route and the landing is done in the dry with only one line hanging in a palm leaf.
The next two days offered us two more great flights. With a little more wind and clouds, we gain some rapid ascent and manage to fly to the top of the Nuku Hiva mountains. When we reach the cloud base at about 900m, we can see all the contours of the island. It is incredible!
Unfortunately, we are heckled quite a bit from the bottom to the top. It is rather uncomfortable. So we decide to move away from the relief to lose some height and fly over the peninsula between the bay of Anaho and the one of Haatuatua. The emotion is in full swing. We put ourselves full of eyes it is magic!
When we land the legs still trembling of adrenaline, the inhabitants applaud us and thank us for coloring their sky!

Merci de m’ouvrir la voie… je comptais déjà y aller avec ma voile en soute, mais c’est génial d’avoir confirmation que ça vole là-bas aussi 😊
